  1. Does the Vive only fix to 45 with reprojection, or are there incremental settings for 15, 30, 60 FPS?
  2. Does the game actually play well on the VIVE at less than 90FPS? The downside of the VIVE to me seemed to be the lack of Asynch time warp, which is probably fine if you're playing a game like Job Simulator, a game that looks like it was designed by the guy that made the Dire Straits music video, but what about real games... like DCS?
  3. Hall sensor rudder pedals?
  4. Maybe a silly question, but the OR only has one camera, so... if you turn your head all the way around to check your six, does it lose tracking, or are there IR reflectors/sensors on the back of the headset as well?
  5. I'm curious how the Vive/Rift run when they are below the 90FPS target. DCS runs at great FPS on my system with 1.5/2.0, but it can certainly drop below 90 FPS on busy multiplayer servers, in complex missions with lots of AI, and in parts of downtown Vegas. I've read the Rift uses asynchronous time warp, which is supposed to reduce any sea-sick (VR sick?) effect, but I haven't read much on the Vive's approach, and whether VR headsets are enjoyable at lower FPS.
  6. How does the time warp work in comparison? Is the Vive just adding lower frames between full res frames to 'fill the gap'? It does seem like a game breaker if you can't play DCS at lower frames. Especially when it comes to multiplayer.
  7. The AI in DCS is terrible. If you really want to see how bad the AI is, try a dogfight with a P-51 vs a Mig-15, Mig-21, or Mig-29 AI, they are comically easy to shoot down. Is that a measure of the Mig-29s performance vs the P51? Probably not... DCS AI has an extremely simplified flight model with simple tactics. (A: climb to minimum stall speed B: Turn at minimum speed and shoot). On top of that, there's no DM (it's either 100% dead or 0% dead). If you want a normalesque looking dogfight with AI K4s vs P51s, try adjusting the skill levels. Unfortunately... there really isn't much besides the few AI levels to adjust (Excellent, high, average, good), so if you increase the skill level of the P51, they will snipe down the enemy AI in short bursts (and vice versa). If you play around with the skill levels enough you might make a somewhat believable looking dogfight, but in the end the AI just fly to the deck and turn/stall fight at minimum speed until they run out of ammo or die. Wags said they were working on AI functionality so they could do some different aerobatic maneuvers in the future, hopefully they add some sliders, scripts, combat routines, or something we can use to make the AI dogfight experience more enjoyable. Until then... Ces't la vie Go shoot down some Mig-29s :pilotfly:
  8. This looks really cool!
  9. Maybe the game needs more head inertia in first person :)
  10. Make sure you run the updater more than once for 1.5 if you are still getting the error that the module is not recognized.
  11. Command line? Is there a console command to download the module?
  12. Pull the stick all the way back to lock your tail wheel , slowly advance throttle to 45-50 manifold and let your stick back to center when you reach 100 mph. Also make sure you at least have buttons to control rudder and breaks. Pedals help but aren't absolutely necessary. I have been able to take off using keyboard and mouse so you should be fine without pedals. The p51 Is easy to take off but you have to be methodical about following the right steps.
  13. Using a GTX 780 with all settings maxed at 1920x1080 I get around 30 FPS low over the city and 60 everywhere else.
  14. Finished downloading the NTTR Map. I'm going to fly around in a UH-1 and broadcast on twitch if you're bored and want to watch. http://www.twitch.tv/anakedsquirrel
  15. I've always wondered, does the DCS model take into account bullet angle and velocity when it comes to objects that should be more armored or more sturdy components? Does it take into account different ammunition types? HE vs AP vs Incendiary? I've noticed the game has complex systems which can be damaged, just looking at the damage list after you take a hit or two points this out very well, but I find it hard to tell how the ballistics are modeled.
  16. You should download and try the 1.5 beta and see if it gives you adequate performance.
  17. A fun 2v2 fight. This version is pretty unstable with MP, but we were lucky enough to get at least one dogfight in before the game crashed. Love the way these 50's birds fly

  18. I dont know if it is a bug, but you will notice the F86 AI flies mostly at stall speed around 200kph or less. Hit F2 and you will see the enemy's airspeed listed at the bottom of the screen. You can either boom and zoom it by taking passes at medium speed and climbing up to set up for another pass, or you can just drop landing flaps and fly at 200kph with it. Your average turn speed is around 600kph in the Mig-15, so as you can imagine, the F86 AI is turning a very small, slow circle. It almost feels like dogfighting a Huey The Mig-15 AI makes for a much better dogfight. It flies a little slower than most players, but it keeps around 450kph for turns, and it seems a bit more dynamic than the F86 AI. It's not a problem exclusive with the Sabre AI, a lot of other AI aircraft have a problem keeping their speed. Especially modern ones. They will often drop their air brake and fly as slow as possible, even if they are behind you.
  19. Will this be in DCS 1.2 or Open Beta 1.5?
  20. Q: Will the Mirage come with earlier missile types such as the Magic I, R.530, or Super 530F?
  21. New clouds have not been implemented yet
  22. Windows 10 64bit Intel i5-4690K @3.5GHz 16GB DDR3 Nvidia GTX 780 I started getting FPS hits with 200-250. It was related to 3d rendering since I only got the hit when looking at a lot of planes. I haven't tried at different distances, just one massive furball.
