  1. B/U starting with OFP 317: FMC Upgrade, -WCP Upgrade -MDP Upgrade MIL STD 1553B Data Bus Upgrade * Required Both Processor Upgrades above to be integrated first, Pilot's VDIG were upgraded, RIO Tactical Display were upgraded, Both positions ECMD's were upgraded, Weapons Interface Computer Upgraded, After OFP 317, Integration of the LANTIRN Pod was started. It really depends on how far HeatBlur goes, a Full on D has nearly every thing replaced in the cockpits, tearing out a majority of the VDIG and replacing it with a MFD System, same for the Rear position
  2. they kept maybe a dozen flying, using the other 55 or so airframes for parts. Outside of widespread use in the earlier wars, in the last 20 years they've been used as "AWACS" or they simply buzzed troops on the ground. Their tomcat's haven't been in a dogfight or pulled more than 5Gs in prolly a decade. The last aircraft that tried to pull a 7G break, was one of the newly retrofitted AMs, and it quickly crashed. another AM, Lost Hydraulics and both engines on Final in '22. So out of less than 10 converted to the "AM" standard, 2 of those had crashed, the Units selected for the "AM" upgrades were the best airframes they had. The only good thing to come from the "AM" program was an awesome new Asia Minor Splinter Scheme.
  3. Note: the Navy is not in control of the information the DoD is via ITARS, the only data that is an issue is the IRST systems. Iran's tomcats are already being retired, their AM program failed, as did their retrofit plans. A B/U would allow HB to use the current external and cockpit model (w/ some changes), vs retrofitting a new external model and cockpit (w/ digital displays) for the D. The Sparrowhawk HUD is leaps and bounds better than the A/B Minimal HUD (Closer to the Hornet HUD), the B/U also has the upgraded databus for a few newer weapons and stores. The D would also required a Flight Model re-work, as other than the Digital Radar and supporting systems, the Flight Control System was also changed. So if you break it down between B/U and D Model: B/U: Uses existing External Model. (A few tweaks to pylons data busses and appearance). Uses existing Cockpit Model. (Upgrading to a off the Shelf SparrowHawk HUD Unit and VDIG) Uses existing Flight Model and Engine Model Uses existing Radar and Supporting systems. Updates and Code revision for the upgraded Digital Data Bus. (And SparrowHawk VDIG). All Data is available (if they can find it, for the Digital Bus changes and SparrowHawk/VDIG Upgrades). D : Requires Adjustments to External Model (Adjustments to Control surfaces, wings, Chinpod, Intakes and a few other small changes) Requires Adjustments to the Cockpit Model (replacing all of the Radar Displays w/ Digital Displays, plus VDIG). Requires Updates and Code Revision for New Kaiser VDIG, Radar Displays, MFDs. Requires Updates and Code Revision for New Radar Requires Updates and Code Revision for New Flight Control System. (and Engine Management System). Requires Updates and Code Revision for new Digital Data Bus. Data for IRST and a few of the upgraded Digital Radar Systems are still blocked from public release through ITARS So Minimal Reworking for a B/U, Or A lot of Reworking for a partial D. Which one is more financially feasible from a business standpoint.... I wonder.. The Tomcat Module Honestly could have been separate Modules, F-14A (Early and Late) F-14B (B and B/U)
  4. if the App is launched as Administrator, then any child process it launches should also be Admin Processes shouldnt it ?
  5. Just a quick blurb.. I do know there's still several issues with preset editor (and German Locale especially), Work continues on revising and re-writing the functions, but over the last 2 months I have been working 12-18 hr shifts every day. Once work calms down and I get more time off I will continue to develop these functions as well as others. I haven't gone radio silent I promise.
  6. not through the DCS_Updater you can't. You can Create an Symbolic Linked folder.
  7. The buttons were replaced with context menu in the last update. Right Click the Build Button to bring up the menu.
  8. Oceana in the 80s and 90s was one big oil / hydraulic fluid stain, Oceana in the 2010's Plus is super clean.
  9. Look at sat photo's of NAS Oceana's Tarmax in the 90s, then look at NAS Oceana today..
  10. F-14s have both Hydraulic and Electronic issues off the line. All surviving US Airframes had the wing box cut...
  11. Depends... Do you want Regular MAC or Deluxe MAC Complete with the liquid gold cheese sauce and better elbow noodles.
  12. Per dev comments in interviews, the Chinook BARELY made it into that video, and it was 100% stationary art only, no systems or flight., which is why you've seen 'nought afterwards. None of the published content has been recorded in Vulkan.
  13. with a good mess of graphical problems due to GPU being well below spec, slower memory, etc etc etc. IntelHD Graphics, forget it. 3000/5000 Ryzen Series AMD APU's May run, w/ everything on low and 8 GB of your system ram dedicated to the GPU.
  14. Metallica's agent has strict control over anything related to the band, music, or name and logo use. *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys and a dozen other Boy/Girl Groups of the 90's/2000's have zero legal representation thanks to the Ponzi scheme portrayed by Lou Pearlman.
  15. Does Tom Cruise count as a info source? he must've flown Ds, since he never got promoted, and likely stayed active through the super bug transition.
  16. US DOD don't care what Iran says, the AM Program was a failure, saw that coming, but I doubt they are all EOL in the next 12 months. Until all of the airframes are sent back to the US to be shredded they are still deemed a threat. AFAIK, The last request for non-public manuals was not approved at higher levels. There are US Regulations that need to approve the release of such documents. so for example, if ED were to go to Boeing and ask for Lot 26 Super Hornet Manuals, and Boeing says sure, that request has to pass through 2 more High level government programs. Whether or not someone higher has changed their mind and approved the release of documents, or HB has decided they have enough public information to simulate the systems without them, remains to be seen. if one were to dig through social media posts across the social media networks, the last 18 months it kind of seems like it's the 2nd of the 2 scenarios.
  17. The manuals for the -D weapons and systems is still not released for public, and likely never will. The B(U) baseline upgrades are part of the NATOPs but again, the needed manuals for the upgraded weapons systems are still classified. it's like buying the 20,000 pc lego set, but with only the pictures of how it's supposed to look assembled and no instructions.. the community will speculate. But the VDIG was a separate upgrade program from the B(U),
  18. The drama and political issues alone wouldn't be worth it, adding and naming specific groups only advertises for them, it's best practice to not name them at all, and just have a generalized "insurgents". there's about an equal chance that ED integrates the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC into the game.
  19. suggest you actually click the link, several ED Team Members and devs responded with their source for data.
  20. Attach your DCS Log File, Options.lua, and Screenshots of your shortcuts. There's a Disconnect in on of those files. My App does not touch any DCS Files Except Options.lua, which the user has to initiate the function to edit that file, so it's not an automatic function.
  21. Sometimes 3rd Party interface tools keep the process alive even after you exit DCS. I had this issue w/ SRS Previously, since DCS Launches SRS as a Child Process, even after DCS is Closed, the process remains active/sleep instead of terminated until I closed the child process what was SRS, Other apps have similar effect. But SRS was the only one that I encounter as the only 3rd Party Apps I run are SRS and Tacview. What's the SimAppPro Process Name, it may be a false positive in the process detection. Also, If you Right Click the Process Button where it says 1 Process, it should tell you which path/build is running.
  22. Preset editor is still relatively new, and being developed and refined. There are bugs and limitations, ie: -GER/Locale replacing Decimals with Comas, (working on fixes for this) -Editor is Locked as long as DCS.Exe is Running, (will always remain locked while dcs.exe is running). -Mis-Matched Values or corrupted values if the string is not already in the options.lua (fix/adjustment coming) --To fix that one, next iteration will disable controls for any strings not already in options.lua The best way to Create a Baseline Profile, is to simply launch DCS using the profile and set the items in the game, Save and Exit. The Preset Editor was not meant for 100% gross replacement of using the DCS Menu, it was meant for after profiles are setup, to adjust a few settings before launch without having to launch DCS change the settings, exit, and relaunch. In the screenshots above, DCS.EXE is shown as running.
  23. For the record, they don't really have the same level of Manufacturer's Licenses/permissions as ED/DCS 3RD Party's. *If they have any at all, as all they are using is the visual representation, which IIRC does not require a license. But that series of titles, NONE of the systems are modeled, they have a generic underlying system that is adjusted per aircraft the user is flying, some displays look visually correct but they are simply basic representations of the data the underlying generic engine is providing. Their Content is meant right where it is, in a visually over saturated, cinematic style camera, heavily filtered, arcade game. Remove those filters, and the content would not look the same (I've seen many of the models RAW, w/o the graphics engine filters, they are nothing close to anything ED or 3rd Parties have put out in the last 10 years.). As for Story / Campaigns, again, not the DCS Path, they are fictional out of the ballpark cinematic scenarios...
  24. iirc they were changing the product pages and the videos were having issues..
