Looks good, man. Very clean. I do the same for my missions. I wish we had the same ability to mark maps as Steel Beasts. The group that I play SB with spends nearly an hour prior to each session just planning and drawing our tactical mission graphics (routes, checkpoints, battle positions, observation posts, etc) It's all about establishing the battlefield architecture so that players can communicate and coordinate!

Top 2, since I only own 4 modules (CA, UH-1, A-10A, and KA-50) #1 Combined Arms I am a ground pounder and have always had an affinity for armored vehicles. I think the DCS game engine is powerful and IS suited for ground combat - much better than ArmA or Steel Beasts. If I wanted JUST ground combat then I'd go play Steel Beasts, but I'm here for more; I want a combined arms experience, and DCS does it exceptionally well. The CA module balances the game, in terms of combined air-ground integration. There's still some improvements for the CA module, but I think there is a fun balance with the vehicles that lands it somewhere between ArmA 3 and Steel Beasts. In a community that is 99% pilots, I sometimes have to remind folks that aviation is used in support of ground operations :D. You'd be surprised at how much fun a mission can be with a dedicated ground player. #2 UH-1 Huey I'll echo what several others are saying: it just feels right. I like to use the UH-1 as a recon/light attack aircraft in the missions that I create. I'd love to use it more in the transportation role, but the lack of a decent infantry model makes immersion difficult - no interior infantry models & strict scripting for transportation missions.

Every vehicle is equipped with binoculars that allow players to lase & mark targets. I've done this for friends without assuming the JTAC role. It works well for the A-10C that can identify laser codes, but not the KA-50. If you are working with helicopters your only option is to mark with smoke.

Looks great, but I think I'm going to wait until the FLIR is fixed, whenever that is... -

Why are the trees hotter than the vehicles? Ive used thermals quite a bit in real life and ive never seen that. -
Images aren't showing up.

The video looks wonderful. How will this look from the ground level, from Combined Arms? -
The 50cal mount for the M1A2 in game is also incorrect, and is actually the mount for the M1A1
-
This is not just the chat bar, but also the message bar. If the mission editor enables it, you will see kills and information like when friendly units take off from airfields, or when friendly players spawn into a vehicle. You can hide it / view it by pressing TAB. I like to keep mine open because it provides more situational awareness.
-
Also, the M1A2 main gun optics can zoom up to [edit] 50x power in real life, versus what we have in game (3x and 10x) The M1A2 in game is closer in capabilities to an M1A1.
-
M1A2 50 caliber Zoom in See old, M1A1 sight. In real life The M1A2 doesn't have an optic. Just uses iron sight
-
1.5.35147 The .50 caliber on the M1A2 is a free gun in real life and uses the weapon iron sight, the same as the M113 or HMMWV in game. The current ingame model uses the gun site from the M1A1 - not used on the M1A2. The current in game model should not have a special sight.
-
1.5.35147 Any time a player engages the stabilizer on a tank (Default V button) then switches to Isometric View, the control axis becomes inverted in Isometric View.
-
You could use the mission editor to have the aircraft start cold. -Load Mission -Click on your Aircraft -Information on the right should say: "start from ramp hot" -Change that to "cold"

I have found that I need none of that. I only need to link the FARP supply to a nearby friendly Airfield and the ground crew will be supplied.

The CA manual states that if you want AI to follow you should set the formation prior to movement. This seems to be hit or miss; sometimes if I change the formation they will fall in on my vehicle, but sometimes they do nothing. IF they do fall in on me, normally they don't match my speed. If I move to quickly then the AI vehicles fall behind and/or become separated. I have no idea what the F3 'Following Leader' command does from the radio. It doesn't seem to be functioning; vehicles don't follow me. This is probably something that should be changed to 'Follow Me' and the platoon follows. My current workarounds: First -F10 Map -Set Waypoint -Autopilot -If I make contact I stop autopilot and engage Second -Manually move my vehicle -Move the AI forward to my position by pressing 'G' + Left Mouse Click'

This weekend I created a small combined arms mission for a group of friends. The mission objective was to seize an airfield and clear insurgents from a small nearby town. The mission included 3x Stryker Platoons, KA-50s, UH-1's (for recon), and A-10s. This was the first time that I've played DCS Combined Arms in a multiplayer capacity - what an awesome experience!. I was the ground forces commander, maneuvering platoons and identifying armored vehicles and bunkers, while my buddies in the air rained steel metal on my targets. There were some frustrations with AI vehicle pathfinding, but overall it was an awesome experience - further proof that we need Combined Arms developed further.

1.5.35147 Tree's seem to be missing thermal signatures - causes a giant black/dark 'block' around tree objects
-
1.5.35147 The following vehicles have real life thermal sights, but lack them in game: M1126 Stryker ICV M1128 Stryker MGS Warrior IFV BMP-3
-
1.5.35147 M1134 seems to get stuck in an infinite ammo replenishment bug. Not able to replicate - but when it occurs the vehicle cannot move or shoot.
-
1.5.35147 In Multiplayer, players who select Tactical Commander or JTAC don't have any briefing displayed at start - or at any time. Players who select to be tactical commanders or JTAC will not see any briefing text or pictures uploaded by the mission editors. This is especially important for editors who use pictures to display tactical graphics, since we have no ability for a tactical overlay in game.

I really dislike this mentality. Some of us want to enjoy the ground aspect of DCS.

Soft skinned armed vehicles deeply needed

More equipment to fill out the Insurgent side would be nice. Technical trucks, and flatbed trucks with equipment. -
Much appreciated! I was watching an old video and it wasnt working. Need to check 'Distribution' for the helicopter advanced waypoint Another issue though - my dismounts are not advancing past the disembark waypoint.
