  1. Cool Razor, I am a diehard VF-111 guy, so there is two of the Air Wing 15 Squadrons already! Now here are some secondary benefits to an airwing. You could share server costs across multiple Virtual Squadrons. Different squadrons could have different schedules or time zones. All squadrons could share one website, with the webmaster serving as the "CAG." As an airwing, you potentially have a large group of people, that are familiar with similar operational procedures, thereby making Topgun style competitions much easier to implement. A standard set of scenery and object mods could be instituted as a group. In a private setting, unofficial mods and or Maps could be created by members for development and testing. These are just a few that immediately came to mind. For those that are more casually available, a reserve squadron could be implemented as well. -Woog
  2. Hello Nick, I like the airwing idea. In fact I vote for CVW-15. It is an airwing that was decommissioned in 1995 I believe. I am in the same camp as you with regards to authentic liveries and paying tribute to the legacy of those who served to create the heritage and ritual that is the U.S. Navy. CVW-15 last served aboard the USS KittyHawk with such squadrons as: The Sundowners, Screaming Eagles, Royal Maces, the Warhawks, the KnightRiders, Hormel Hawgs, Dragonfires, Garudas, etc..... If that isn't a mixed bag I don't know what is? That covers, F-14's, A-7's or F/A-18's, A-6's, E-2C's, S-3's, and EA-6B's respectively. As the airwing transitioned from A-7's to F/A-18's it also transitioned Helos from the venerable SH-3 to the H-60 series. Now, we will probably never get an S-3 or a E-2 as full modules, but Razbam is doing an A-6 eventually. If you are a naval aviation fan, no doubt you will buy all of these modules. Why not have a dedicated group of like minded individuals to fly with? -Woog
  3. VFA-106 Hey Josh, By all means keep going on your paint it will be a great learning tool. I have also begun work on this paint. I also plan to do a multi-Shaded blue camo L-39 that is a local here in the Pacific NW. -Woog.
  4. Tic Tock the Mouse ran up the Clock......... I wait and Repaint and check, and Paint some more.......... -Woog
  5. You do really good work Starway, but Nevada is a desert, and S.O.H. is a desert. Do we really need another desert? What I did notice the other day, is the Black Sea map bears a slight resemblance to the West Coast of the Korean peninsula. I wonder how much reconfiguring could be done to create a workable scenario for the F-51, F-86, Mig-15, and B-29 Ai? -Woog
  6. Helo Blade, It is great to see someone working on this! It is a definite must have for our future carrier ops. The fact that you are doing a U.S. variant with the 5-bladed tail rotor is the best news of all. While you are at the 3d modeling stage, maybe you guys could think about another version that would be a Very welcome addition to DCS and even the NTTR map. The CH-3 Jolly Green. I can see all kinds of CSAR scenarios created involving the Jolly Greens, Huey's and the Cobra if Belsimtek ever releases that one. Similar the the EH-101, the CH-3 essentially is just a rear ramp version of the SeaKing. The Forward fuselage is the same, and depending on how build your model, could be basically just re-used with some minor modifications like the nose wheel well, and the Refueling probe. Flight performance should be almost identical as the drive train is the same. Even if this idea is not feasible, I will be a happy customer all the same just to get the Sea King in game. Thank you guys for trying to tackle such an Iconic Helo. -Woog

    Scenery

Hello Cichlidfan, Please correct me if I am mistaken, but I thought this was part of the new engine? A spherical global presence. It is my understanding that the globe is there with full Latitude and Longitudinal Co-ordinates, just missing landmass, until a specific area is created by a developer. I'm not sure the Combined Arms environment statement makes sense to me? Are you saying the ORBX Map locations don't make sense? Or the style of land Class based scenery, with High detail Photo-real Areas for specific airports? This is exactly the same method E.D. uses to create their own maps. Orbx just does it better with a much larger catalog of 3d assets. Sincerely, -Woog

Here then is it time to revisit this subject? Different maps is NOT an issue, as we have seen. Compatibility? Well now, that is what development is for is it not? We have this great thing called ingenuity, whereby things that are not, become reality. 3d assets are 3d assets. Anything that ORBX does can be brought into the DCS World with determination. That being said, it would require an official partnership between E.D. and Orbx. Orbx is known for their desire to stay on the Civilian Side of the spectrum. However, E.D. have stated they are not opposed to allowing Civilian aircraft development. Anything is possible, and quite frankly, I think E.D. should really think about approaching Orbx to spark up some kind of Co-operative agreement. Orbx is the absolute master of creating scenery in the same way that E.D. does. It would behoove E.D. to enable Orbx to port all of their maps over to DCS, as this would cover almost all of the areas that are highly desired in their platform. If this were to happen, it would absolutely Flip the Flight simulation Genre on it's side. In my honest opinion, it would be the greatest decision either company ever made. This would become the foundation for a flight sim Killer. No other platform would be able to compete. Below is a link to this exact subject over at the Orbx forums. -Woog http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/102784-orbx-to-start-developing-for-dcs-world/
  9. I am a little Slow, but I Assume an activation code only works for one computer? I purchase on my account, but do not activate it. I then get the code, and give it to my buddy for him to activate, correct?
  10. The only thing classified about the F-117A these days is the paint formula. It has No radar, uses all stand off equipment available at the time of manufacture. F/A-18 engines and MFD's, F-15 Landing gear. A FLIR/Laser Designator in the Nose, and on the bottom for Target identification, and Lasing. 2 LGB's for weapons. There you go. All the info you need. 3d model is super easy low poly count, and is already in game.
  11. Yes a KC-10 & S-3 Viking will Refuel this bird. Is there a drogue version of the KC-135 in game anybody?

  13. Trainer Wars I can already envision the competition servers in action. Trainers only battle Royal. L-39 vs, Hawk, vs C-101, vs T-2C. Let the fun begin!
  14. Any chance this could turn into a full module someday?
  15. Sorry guys, I did not intend to go off subject, I was just responding to the information that WAGS touched on. By Naval Ops, I was referring to the updated U.S. Carrier with working catapults that WILL be part of 2.0 for the incoming Naval Aircraft. I am very happy to see movement on all fronts from E.D. Progress is good! The L-39 will be a great little addition, and seems to have been developed in record time. -Woog
  16. Going to a DCS World 1.5 is a nice compromise while E.D. continues work on Multi-Crew, ATC, and the Naval Ops package that are to be part of the full 2.0 release. At least then the other developers can have a fairly stable platform to work in that represents how the new visuals will be presented. I can't wait to hear more when I watch the replay-stream after my return from Camping this weekend. Please WAGS, include the news portion in the replay. Thank you, -Woog
  17. Hello NRG, I am from the Seattle area, but not Mukilteo. I actually live down south a bit near Lake Tapps. I work at the Boeing factory in Renton. Now you may understand my desire to see proper airliners at these International Airports. Also my proximity to McChord AFB put C-141's, F-15's, and A-10's over my home quite regularly as a kid. I think they use the distinctive shape of the lake as a VFR landmark.
  18. Hello Friends, I see a lot of people have mods for things like new ships, and objects. How hard would it be to import new civilian Ai aircraft. E.D. has stated that these are very low on the priority list, but Dubai and McCarran will absolutely look odd, if you don't have A320, 737, 747, and 777 at the gates. Also on the Military side, I always longed for a C-141B Starlifter to match up with our FC3 era aircraft. How hard is it to add in these type of aircraft into the mix? There are a lot of freeware available with the correct liveries. If this somehow still breaks EULA's, I would be willing to purchase 3d models, if someone could help me get them into, and functioning in the sim. Sincerely, Woog
  19. Which is exactly who they did fight. while serving with the Brits (Who are making both those modules) -Woog
  20. Hey George, all valid concerns, however, I am not suggesting I make this. I am simply measuring the communities opinion on what they want. All Photoscenery is built upon a detailed elevation mesh, and should include accurate water masks. Because of this, it would still have mountains valley's rivers lakes, etc. If you read the post, you would get a better understanding of what I meant. Also, I am not suggesting I make this scenery, I am suggesting E.D. or a partner consider this as an alternate product to sell to us user base, to expedite scenery creation. That is all Good or Bad idea? -Woog
  21. In order to increase the map size and expedite the process of map creation, would you support photoreal scenery without objects? I am thinking along the lines of MegaScenery for FSX/P3D. Of course detailed maps could be added on top, or as a later replacement. Would you buy a photoreal only scenery product for DCS World, if you could instantly fly over SoCal, or all of England for example? Just curious, because I would buy it in a heartbeat!
  22. Hello Bunyap, Is there any way we could get the A-10A as an option for us newbs? (In addition to the Frogfoot) -Woog
  23. Just to add a little more fuel to the fire, maybe one of the "2 other aircraft" is an F-111? A2G radar, Swing Wings, and the same engines as the Tomcat. Could have been used by the Marines, but never was......... -Woog
  24. Hey SilverDragon, You are correct, the Export Hornets use the Same style MFD For the Center. The U.S. version does not. Does this really matter? To Me, the U.S. version should be the one that E.D. models, as it is the most prolific, and the Country of origin for the Aircraft. -Woog
