  1. One day I will be proficient enough to join a virtual squadron. For those that wonder what the NTTR map really offers in usefulness, I say this: Virtual Squadron meeting ground. Tournament style Squadron Vs. Squadron Vs. Squadron. I can't wait! -Woog
  2. The F-14 has been known to Best the F-15 on multiple occasions. The F-14 can pull very high Alpha, to the point that it can perform the "Cobra" maneuver. The Phoenix missile is a joke, and NOT TO BE USED AGAINST FIGHTER AIRCRAFT. The Phoenix was designed to be used against non-maneuvering, high altitude bombers that are trying to penetrate, and destroy the Aircraft Carrier. An old slower video, but a great bit of insight into the F-14's maneuvering capability.
  3. I'm guessing Fallon NAS. Here is why: It is part of the NTTR map already. Albeit the very far NW corner. I mean Barely on that map. But a single airbase would constitute a small scenery right? Fallon is the current home of the Naval Fighter Weapons School (NFWS). What used to be called Topgun, has been integrated together with NSAWC (Naval Strike And Warfare Center) to give deploying Carrier Air Wings a place to "Work Up," and get up to speed for the kind of combined operations they will be facing in theatre. Fallon has it's own Bombing, EW, and Tactical Air Combat Ranges. For further reference, most of the "Top Gun" scenes from the movie were filmed on the Fallon ranges in the Nevada desert. Just my Guess though. -Woog
  4. I am going to start creating logos, and squadron paint in Adobe Illustrator now. This way I can mass produce paints as soon as he's available! Yeah Baby! -Woog
  5. Why Wouldn't you read into them? It is far more unlikely of LNS to put images on their website of aircraft they are not working on, then the way you explain it. Judging by the Detail of the Mesh they show, the F6F will not be Ai. Think about it logically. If you ran a similar company, would it make any sense to essentially advertise a product that you had no intention of selling? Edit: On what page have you seen an image of a Corsair? I would really like one as well, but have scanned all that can be scanned. I did not see a single image of the F4U. They made a great choice by doing the F6f IMHO.
  6. You must not have seen the picture of the F6F on the Home Page? The guessing was over a long time ago.
  7. Not to mention this photo was from 30 years ago. A-7's were some of the first to convert to TPS Paint. Most were done by 1985. Also, A-7 do Not take off straight up. Ever.
  8. 1 Picture. A single picture is worth a thousand words. Judging from prior interviews, The cockpit is where this Extraordinary team likes to start. I just want one picture of the the Tomcat Pit. It will answer so many questions! After that I don't need anything until it is complete. Honestly, I don't want any more to be said by LNS, it only brings out the crazy fanatics. We all know that LNS doesn't do mediocre. I can rest easy at night knowing OUR favorite Air Frame is in good hands. Thank you Leatherneck for your Hard work and dedication. It will be worth the wait. -Woog :)
  9. Vampyre Knows his stuff. I can't help but think that Fallon would be a great airbase addon for Leatherneck to bring to the NTTR map. I've mentioned this elswhere, but it would complement both the F-14, and the F/A-18C when released. Also would make a good test bed for Leatherneck's scenery development team. Vampyre, Reno Stead is a great idea! Mustang's, Spitfires, Bearcat's and dare I say an LNS Hellcat? -Woog
  10. FALLON NAS is the new (since 1996, when the Marine Corps took over Miramar) home of TopGun Sith. By my calculations it should lie inside the NTTR Map...... just barely. (Far NW corner) I highly doubt it is modeled, otherwise Wags would have previewed it by now.
  11. TopGun is not what you say it is. Topgun, is an advanced weapons employment school. You will have been trained fully to fly the Tomcat (Now Hornet) and probably have even been on a cruise or two before you ever go to Topgun. Topgun is like a post Graduate school, that not everybody gets to attend. BIO Baranek is releasing a book soon, that you should probably read. -Woog
  12. Forget the AI, Drive the Ships! Hello Matt, and the Rest of the E.D. team. I would love to see you guys bring models like DeltaSim's Burke DDG or their upcoming Wasp Class into the sim as a complete module like any other DCS Aircraft. In terms of multi-player, with share-able equipment, It would be great if the "Carriers" supported multiple positions like: air boss, deck boss, LSO, and of course the ship pilot/Captain. As far as weapons go, I want all S2A assets user selectable from the CIC screen. If running an offensive ship like a Cruiser or Destroyer, then of course we would need a S2S weapons page, that gave us targeting options for both land targets, and also maritime targets of opportunity. As combined arms has shown, we don't need absolute authenticity for a new feature to be an effective tactics training system. Get it close, make it plausible, make it look good. If adding the puzzle piece brings a new realistic facet to the combat simulator, it is relevant. As far as operations go, most ship need to refuel at sea. A tanker then needs to be created, with some kind of formation lock feature. As the formation feature is triggered, an animation sequence with the cables, hoses, and cargo transfer would be AMAZING! Speaking of cargo transfer, Ship to Shore offloads from a Wasp, or equivalent Foreign Amphibious landing ship, could make for some exciting game play. Just some thoughts for an old thread, -Woog
  13. I'm not necessarily partial to the Il2. It is just a well known Russian EXAMPLE. The point I tried to convey; was that WW2 DID happen on this existing Black Sea map. I am surprised that the WW2 Roadmap doesn't include more Russian equipment, so that they could utilize the existing work in a new way. As a side benefit, more people get to learn about these important battles. -Woog
  14. Being a Russian company, I am really surprised ED hasn't focused more of the WW2 stuff on Russian equipment and operations. With the addition of a Stuka, an Il2 and a couple of choice Russian birds, the current Black Sea map could be reborn. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Sea_campaigns_%281941%E2%80%9344%29 While the Leading competitor is focused on Stalingrad, ED already has a great basis for the replay of a little talked about front during WW2. Just a thought. -Woogey
  15. Hello Dojo, Do any of you operate the "Steam" version? Would Steams' community features be beneficial to an online squadron? -Woog
  16. There are more than 2 maps being worked on.
  17. Addressing the "Soft and Blurry" issue, I believe there is a Noise filter that causes this. Even the old caucuses map has Photoreal tiles, but the filter washes out the detail. I believe ED uses this to help even out the scenery for smooth blending and transitions. I'm not really sure of it's actual purpose. I think this is the key factor that needs to be tweaked in order to achieve the clarity we are used to in the other flight/Scenery sims. Any way you look at it, DCS 2.0 is a huge leap forward in capability, and I can't wait! -Woog
  18. I remember reading somewhere that this "Edge" game engine is actually version 4, and that Professional sims have been using it for years in all its versions. Is that not what the AVIA stuff ACTUALLY IS running in? (EDGE). That would make it actually cousins, and therefore directly relate-able. Please correct my info, I like all the back story stuff. -Woog
  19. Good call Weta, cameras make all the difference.
  20. That is not an accurate comparison at all! Different aircraft different engine. Here is an SU-27: Keep in mind, the Orange color is washed out at night time, just as the blue color is washed out during daylight hours.
  21. PFM=Professional Flight Model
  22. FSX is DX9, with later versions having a DX10 "PREVIEW MODE."
  23. Skeletal Animations mean exactly what the sound like. In humanoid models, all the skeletal joints will be animated for fluid natural movement. I believe it actually applies to all models though, so that the moving parts will be "hinged" exactly as they are in reality. Someone correct me if I am wrong with that last bit........
  24. Because the foreign country owns the satellite that flew over and took the pictures. If I take a picture of you, you don't own it, I do. It's my camera. ;-)
