PRE-PURCHASE DCS: L-39 ALBATROS Discussion Thread
Woogey replied to terence44's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Going to a DCS World 1.5 is a nice compromise while E.D. continues work on Multi-Crew, ATC, and the Naval Ops package that are to be part of the full 2.0 release. At least then the other developers can have a fairly stable platform to work in that represents how the new visuals will be presented. I can't wait to hear more when I watch the replay-stream after my return from Camping this weekend. Please WAGS, include the news portion in the replay. Thank you, -Woog -
Hello NRG, I am from the Seattle area, but not Mukilteo. I actually live down south a bit near Lake Tapps. I work at the Boeing factory in Renton. Now you may understand my desire to see proper airliners at these International Airports. Also my proximity to McChord AFB put C-141's, F-15's, and A-10's over my home quite regularly as a kid. I think they use the distinctive shape of the lake as a VFR landmark.

Hello Friends, I see a lot of people have mods for things like new ships, and objects. How hard would it be to import new civilian Ai aircraft. E.D. has stated that these are very low on the priority list, but Dubai and McCarran will absolutely look odd, if you don't have A320, 737, 747, and 777 at the gates. Also on the Military side, I always longed for a C-141B Starlifter to match up with our FC3 era aircraft. How hard is it to add in these type of aircraft into the mix? There are a lot of freeware available with the correct liveries. If this somehow still breaks EULA's, I would be willing to purchase 3d models, if someone could help me get them into, and functioning in the sim. Sincerely, Woog

Which is exactly who they did fight. while serving with the Brits (Who are making both those modules) -Woog

Hey George, all valid concerns, however, I am not suggesting I make this. I am simply measuring the communities opinion on what they want. All Photoscenery is built upon a detailed elevation mesh, and should include accurate water masks. Because of this, it would still have mountains valley's rivers lakes, etc. If you read the post, you would get a better understanding of what I meant. Also, I am not suggesting I make this scenery, I am suggesting E.D. or a partner consider this as an alternate product to sell to us user base, to expedite scenery creation. That is all Good or Bad idea? -Woog

In order to increase the map size and expedite the process of map creation, would you support photoreal scenery without objects? I am thinking along the lines of MegaScenery for FSX/P3D. Of course detailed maps could be added on top, or as a later replacement. Would you buy a photoreal only scenery product for DCS World, if you could instantly fly over SoCal, or all of England for example? Just curious, because I would buy it in a heartbeat!

DCS: World Virtual Gunsmoke Competition - July 2015
Woogey replied to Bunyap's topic in Community News
Hello Bunyap, Is there any way we could get the A-10A as an option for us newbs? (In addition to the Frogfoot) -Woog -
Just to add a little more fuel to the fire, maybe one of the "2 other aircraft" is an F-111? A2G radar, Swing Wings, and the same engines as the Tomcat. Could have been used by the Marines, but never was......... -Woog

Hey SilverDragon, You are correct, the Export Hornets use the Same style MFD For the Center. The U.S. version does not. Does this really matter? To Me, the U.S. version should be the one that E.D. models, as it is the most prolific, and the Country of origin for the Aircraft. -Woog
-
Constructive Criticism: The center MFD on the Hornet is wrong. It should be Square not hexagonal like the top two.
-
The E-2 has been in game for a long time, along with the E-3.
-
Tanker Tie-in: I really hope that when the A-6 finally goes into production, that Razbam makes a Dedicated KA-6 version just for this purpose. On a typical mission scenario in the Turkey, after launching from the boat, the first thing you did was meet up with the tanker to to off your tanks. -Woog

I don't know why you would assume a minor incident like this would put a Highly valuable Tomcat out of commission. A new Canopy and an Ejection seat and he was good to go! 164341 seen 4 years later in the Bone Yard at DM. -Woog
-
I do have to agree that the A-6 shares a lot of cockpit gauges and functionality with the F-14A, recalling the "systems pioneered by one of our other Modules" statement.

Maybe they will be doing NAS Adak? Now a decommissioned airbase handed over to the local Alaskan tribes. Adak was once a thriving naval base and air station at the peak of the cold war. http://web.mst.edu/~rogersda/military_service/adak.htm

I think this probably means system wise it is complete, satisfactorily functioning as intended. More artwork still in the pipeline though. Just my interpretation though. -Woog

Kind of out of left field, but maybe one of the two unannounced projects is an S-3 Viking? It had A2G radar right? That would be awesome. The Viking has really grown on me over the years. I would build a full 100% scale cockpit of that bad Mofo, if one were created for DCS. -Woog

Yes, SoCal would be an Amazing scenario terrain. So many military bases. I know my version is a bit larger, but it also opens up the possibility of attack from south of the Border. IE CUBA, promotes an overthrow of the Mexican government through the drug cartels, backed by other Communist factions. Could make for some real interesting gameplay. Lots of open desert for combined arms operations. -Woog

VEAO have stated their intention to do a Libya map already on their roadmap. -Woog

If you were to scale the Extension that Nick has "Proposed" to fit the NTTR Map it would look a little closer to this: The Blue Line at the top of the Image is the NTTR Map border. This SoCal Extension would be useful for The F/A-18C at El Toro, the Tomcat at Miramar, and for Razbam's Harrier at Yuma when it is finished. If we ever get a Whiskey Cobra, Twin Huey, or a Phrog, those are all based at Camp Pendelton. NAS North Island, is home to SH-60's, S-3 vikings, and C-2 Greyhounds, Just for fun, look what I spotted out on San Clemente Island. (a Mig-23) -Woog

I find it Very interesting that you chose the Area you did. I agree, this would be the absolute best map possible for "Tomcat Specific" ops. I find it interesting, because it would essentially be NTTR extended. The northern edge of the map you uploaded, Almost matches up with the southern edge of the NTTR map perfectly. Although, it does encompass the Entire San Diego area, and the vast majority of the L.A. basin. Sadly, my gut tells me this is a little too extreme for a free included theater. An operational area map like that would be as important as the Tomcat is, as it's own separate product. I would gladly pay $99 dollars for a SoCal map, if that price would motivate it to actually be created. It would have to include: El Torro, Camp Pendelton, Miramar, North Island, and Yuma though for that price. San Clemente and Catalina Island would make naval ops a little more interesting as well. -Woog

See, there you go Exile. Now if we can get Deltasim to bring there Naval Ship Models to DCS we'll have ourselves a little Amphibious Assault Party! Enjoy! -Woog http://www.deltasimstudio.com/

As far as Razbam/M2M have stated, their intention is to Release the M2000, then The T-2C. The A-7, and then all new A-6 model. The AV-8 will probably come after all of those, as a completely new, first ever VSTOL flight model needs to be developed. In there somewhere is Jose's highly anticipated T-6 Texan II model. Of all the models they are intending, the F-15E will be the most difficult, for technology and licensing reasons. I would be willing to bet the F-15E will not be done after all. ......and if we are lucky RAZBAM will bring us their entire A-4 series..... Crossing my fingers on that one. Please, Oh Please Lord make the A-4 happen. -Woog
-
I hope that a VERY optimized ai or Static version is made from this model. I'd love to see 100 Tomcats parked on the Ramp as I taxi out :megalol: -Woog

Aimless Assumption: WWII Pacific from Leatherneck is Next
Woogey replied to Zakatak's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Hawaii is much too populated. It would be a hell of a scenery to create. Cities, Structures, Many Airports, and a Huge Naval base. Not to mention, too many critics. There are a lot of features, that no one will agree on. Is it do-able? Yes. Is it a likely candidate? No.
