Yeah, I've heard good reports regarding their controllers. No idea what they are like price-wise.

No Joy on PAPI lights at other airfields and another Q.
CrashEd replied to mooshim's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Welcome to the forum. You are running the training missions, trying things out and asking the right questions. That's a good start. Get your head into the manual and have a good read around the radio section. It's quite involved as there are 3 vox radios (left panel) and then the ILS and TACAN receivers (right panel). You also need to know the ILS and ATC frequencies for your airfield. Check out Shu77's excellent airfield charts. The best thing you can do from there is to get yourself logged into the beta forum and start searching for threads relating to the radios. WarriorX's radio guide is excellent, so probably a good place to start. You need to read, fly, read, fly, then read some more! ;) I'd post some links but I'm away from my pc at the moment. Hit the search button. Good luck  -
^^Good thinking. There's also the new Wathog World website. They may also have a serial database? http://www.warthogworld.com/ Hope you get it sorted one way or another.

SSD noticeably smmoths flight experience
CrashEd replied to JaseGill's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I've been reading up on SSDs recently and the thing to look for is what controller it has (JaseGill pointed this out in another thread as well). Most SSDs at the moment have good read speeds but poor write speeds (almost half the read speed). This is because the controller has to perform a delete operation followed by a write operation, hence the speed reduction. OCZ seem to have overcome this somehow with the use of the Sandforce controller in the Vertex 2E. Something to keep an eye out on when shopping for SSDs ;) I, like others, am not sure whether to wait until next year or buy now. Prices are getting pretty good for ~240GB drives utilising the current technology. EDIT: Nice setup Loz  -
Probably not the place to discuss this, but...Your processor is no slouch and your card is probably the same as mine. I notice no FPS penalty when using the TGP or MAV seeker. Could be a Win7 thing? (better hyperthreading - just a guess). May be worth running some system diagnostic tools to see if you have any bottlenecks.

lol, that made me chuckle :D

Nice. Cheers guys

Viper - can you point me in the direction of where said text exists? Would also be handy to know where mission info exists as well e.g. the Hideout mission for example. There is a lot of info to take in on that mission. I had to take screen dumps in the end! Some kind of mission info to PDF converter would be very useful in the future perhaps...
-
^^ Interesting, will try this with Auto off i.e. semi or manual.
-
 I'm an idiot. But mine does include a track. hehe :D

Haven't even attempted the campaign missions yet. Think I'll wait until the core sim is more stable... I've been having problems with the Hideout mission as well. The green screen issue is there every now and again. I shut-down and restart of the sim usually fixes it for me. The second issue for me is that the sim crashes without fail at the point in which UZI 2-1 gives the command to attack the target. This happens in both Beta 2 and Beta 3. I also have the issue with the dormant wingman parked on the rwy taxi area

Can't remember which beta this is from (B1?), but you'll get the idea... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60648 HTH

Cool beans :) ----------------------------------- Just for the record, I'm getting a 'hitch' in the A2A mission just after the training geezer tells you to uncage the AIM-9M. After you do that, there is no further response from said tutor. I can also confirm the crash in the Countermeasures training mission, as reported by others. I'm running beta 2.
-
^^ Not a bad idea. Perhaps we could have another sub heading in the Training Mission section that is labelled 'Advanced' for those of us who really want to learn some serious systems info/tactics. I'd also like to see an 'advanced' training mission on SAM evasion - something that has never been taught in any sim as far as I am aware (training mission-wise). There are some excellent videos on YT for Flaming Cliffs 2, but it would be good to have a proper training mission included with the sim  It's hard to find info on this stuff unless someone has created a video on YT.

Please check out the beta forum and report/check for issues there. Read this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=61749 You have to assign the default profiles for both Warthog stick and throttle in the Options> Controllers menu.

I also noticed that in the TGP mission, LSS is referred to as being OSB 5 and LSR as OSB 6. I think they should be OSB 6 & 7 respectively?
-
Yes, this is where the confusion arises and is what prompted my original response. In my mind thereis no "enhanced" version of beta 3 as far as I'm aware? (I'd be super-happy to be corrected though! ;) ) Are you refering to the client aka "Full Install"? As far as I know there are only two versions of beta 3: 1, Patch: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=2364&scr=products&lang=en 2, Client ("Full"): http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?scr=products&end_pos=135&lang=en I thought the "Full" version was just all of the patches in one handy install + the June 2010 dx9 redistributable. I don't think there is anything "enhanced" about it is there? Is there a 3rd option that I don't know about??
-
Eh?? Do you have a link to where this has been officially announced??
-
It works fine for me (Beta 2 though ;))
-
Thought I'd run through the new training missions to check for new content. I have to say that they are far better than the original beta 1 & 2 TMs that I've used before. The flow is much better and the content is excellent. I particularly like the landing mission. I'm only up to the DSMS mission - no crashes/problems so far
-
Known 'issue'. There are one or two other threads regarding this. I hope it gets fixed in a later Beta.
-
Also getting this in beta 3. Hide Out mission is a one example.
-
In answer to my own question, yes ;)
-
Will they work in Beta 2? I'm getting so many crashes in Beta 3 that I no longer know whether is is sim, mission, JTAC or training mission-related ;)
