  1. I'd hope that they'd be able to model the "safety wingtips" that popped off if you overstressed the airframe. I'm sure that would be a favorite pass time for anyone flying it. "Let's see if I can make these wingtips go flying off!"
  2. No, the D23 would make the most sense. It was the last of the razorbacks and the closest in performance to the ones we have. They wouldn't even have to change the fm. I wouldn't mind if some modder who knew what he was doing, used the D30 model and made a razorback out of it. And no Malcolm hood. That's missing the point of doing the razorback version, in my opinion.
  3. Yeah, that was my thought when I read the post. Are you watching your red lines? Keep your eyes on your rpm's and manifold numbers. Go over the red line and your prop will stop dead!
  4. You know, no offence, really...but with all the things that need to be worked on, I can't believe that someone is complaining that they can't operate P-47's from an aircraft carrier. Wait 'til the Corsair comes out, and you won't even care anymore.
  5. Well, all I was saying was that it wasn't used in the Marianas, or anywhere else during WW2, in case the original poster thought that. Calm down. From the looks of that cockpit shot it's going to be a beautiful model and I'll be following this one. I don't even care about using it in combat. I just want to fly it!
  6. .....in the meantime I just fly something else (like the Mosquito) Of course. So do I. And that Mossie is terrific. It became a favorite quickly. You can make liveries without having an airplane or a template?
  7. Yeah, not going to happen, I think. I'm wondering if it will even be next Christmas. I first heard about this airplane being in developement in 2015. We're going on seven years. In that time, the real one had been designed, test flown, and seen several years of combat. It is, without question, my most anticipated airplane in DCS. I check in here constantly to see if there are any updates.
  8. Great airplane, and it will be fun to fly. But you do realize that it never saw combat over the Marianas...right? As a matter of fact, it never saw combat at all with American forces. It came out too late to see service with the U.S. Navy, during WW2.
  9. I think it's kind of obvious that he's showing the same versions of the airplane in both the real and Flying Irons pictures. Both have the deep chin intakes of the J and L models. They are definately different. I've never seen that middle inlet look square, like that, on any P-38. Other than that, it's a beautiful model. But, DAMN, would I love to fly a DCS Lightning.
  10. Meaning the Essex class carrier and AI Zero, I hope. This is going to be a good one. Maybe ED will be willing to jump in and add some Japanese equipment into the WW2 assets pack sometime down the line. Maybe an AI Avenger to help fill out the air group....maybe.....fingers crossed, toes crossed...etc.
  11. Oh, c'mon already...for Pete's sake, give us that F4U Corsair! Okay, that's all I wanted to say. I feel better now.

    Hurricane

"No I meant the F4F Wildcat. It’s very loosely a BoB aircraft as the RN had inherited some early models iirc." Oh geez, Mog. I'd say, VERY, loosely! Actually, Martlets didn't get their first kill until December. Christmas day, as a matter of fact. But I'm a Wildcat fan. The FM-2 especially. If they build it, I'll buy it.

    Hurricane

You mean the BF109F-4? Battle of Britain? Nope. All E models. F didn't see combat 'til early in '41.

    Skin Request

Art, the last two are just what I'm looking for. The First is an RAF squadron the flew out of Burma. Very nice, though. I'll go and grab them and see what else you have. Thanks.

    Skin Request

Is there any chance of someone doing some Pacific P-47 skins? I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd like to fly around the Marianas map in a Jug painted in the correct scheme. Several P-47 outfits flew out of New Guinea and later from the Philippines. There were some colorful bubble canopied P-47 flying with the 35th, 58th and Neal Kirby's high scoring 348th Fighter Groups.
  16. If you don't take off with pitch levers all the way forward it doesn't happen. I push them full forward, then back them off an inch or so. I know it shouldn't be, but until they fix it, this seems to work.
  17. I don't see how a DCS "Battle of Britain" could possibly be done, seeing the way airplanes are developed for this sim. They aren't produced en masse, they're more or less hand crafted. Very high fidelity. It would take years to build the Spit Mk1. More years, again, to build a Hurricane. A 109E.....etc...Sounds like a fifteen year project. Unless they went the IL-2 route and I just don't see them doing that.
  18. Yeah, Pete, but if a Fort IS ever done, it'll be a third party that does it. DCS is not going to add a B-17....I'd bet money on it.
  19. Nick, it would probably take ten years to make a DCS Flying Fortress. I first read about the F4U we're supposed to get back in 2015! We still don't have it. That show would be long forgotten by the time a B-17 came out.
  20. Love the Corsair. Was looking at the F4U that is available for MSFS 2020. It's really well done, and I'm tempted. But I'd rather have a combat version that I can kill things with. I have to admit, though. After following the development of this model for about seven years, I'm wondering if it's going to happen. I might have to get my F4U fix in a civilian flight sim. Guess I can fly around and make gun noises!
  21. Considering the history of what DCS developers have produced so far, I have no reason why anyone would expect a B-17. It's a tactical fighter sim. It's all about what happens on the battlefield, there isn't any strategic aspect to the sim. And I'm fine with that. I really don't know why anyone wants to be in a heavy bomber, fly in a straight line, and get pounded by flak and fighters. All the while sitting in your seat and being able to do nothing about it. I'd rather be the hunter than the prey. But that's just me.
  22. I hadn't heard that DCS was supposed to get Vulcan. I used to fly XPLANE 11 before MSFS 2020, and when XPLANE went over to Vulcan, the difference in performance was dramatic, to say the least. When is that supposed to happen?
  23. And here I was, jumping into the forum to say how great the sim is running. I also notice a crispness, a clarity, to the graphics. My temps seems to have dropped a bit. I'm running an AZUS gaming computer with a 6gb video card. 16gb of RAMM. Framerates aren't something that worry me. As long as I get a smooth running game, I don't even look at framerates. To me, CPU and GPU temps are more important. They seems to have dropped a bit.
  24. Brems....that's what I'm doing and it works.
  25. I am trimming this airplane for hands off flying with no problem at all. I'm not understanding why people are having issues. The only thing I can figure is that you are holding the trim button down rather than tapping it. You don't want to press and hold it...she'll be all over the place. Short taps until you get the desired results.
