Can't imagine why you'd want to fly a 737 in here. Where would you go? It really wouldn't be all that interesting. That's what MSFS 2020 is for. It's incredible, in my opinion. DCS for military types and MSFS for civilian flying. They are the only two flight sims on my computer. I just can't see any reason for any others.

Oh Hell, let's not get all serious over an airplane in a video game. I think we have different definitions of the phrase, "Freaking Out." My post was meant to be tongue in cheek, and I was actually expecting at least one, "lol!" However, if we wanted to get serious....yeah, an animated computer model of an airplane versus a real nuts and bolts metal machine, twelve thousand or so of them as a matter of fact. Well, yeah....it's been a little long. And with DCS being my favorite combat flight simulator I'm not sitting around waiting for it. I'm flying "something else" almost every night.' Hell, if we never get it, we never get it.

Yeah, I've already said in another post that, in the same time that this model is taking, the real F4U was designed, flight tested and then saw combat in WW2. Pretty soon I'm going to have to include Korea. Hopefully not the 1960's Soccer War.

I watched a film on Netflix last night. I'd never heard of it, and I think Netflix just released it. It involves Mossies, which is why I'm posting it here. It's a Danish film about the RAF's bombing of the Gestapo headquarters in Copenhagen in March of 1945. The scenes bounce back and forth between RAF crews, the resistance people that they tried to release, and the civilians who ultimately paid the biggest price for the raid. It's a heartbreaking and brutal film from the first ten minutes and does not let up on you. It's not the "feel good movie of the year!" But watch it. I thought it was well done.

So. if they did this, what would you do with it? What would be the point, really?

I have never heard of anyone referring to the F4U's nose as cute. It's like saying Jimmy Durante's nose was cute. All right, I know you kids don't know who Jimmy Durante was. Massive, yes. Cute, no.

Hell yeah, an SBD would nicely, too.

I never really saw the purpose of these mods that use the Mustang. You are in the Mustang cockpit, using the Mustang flight model. You are flying the Mustang, not the F6F. Great as AI, though. Maybe someone will do a TBM Avenger mod using the Yak. Flying the Corsair in a combined F4U, F6F, TBM air strike would be very immersive. And now I see that there is a bunch of AI Japanese airplanes. Plent out there for a terrific Pacific air war experience. Where is that Corsair!?

Yeah, if I were a flight sim developer, that would surely be my number one priority to fix.

I just read that Flying Iron has a BF109 G-6 in the works. So we can chase each other around over Europe, instead. That works.

I might have to pick this up. If someone comes out with a Zero for MSFS it might be fun to chase each other around, online, over some South Pacific Islands. Even if we can't hurt each other.

Oh, I'm such a sucker! But I can't help it. From that 2022 update, it does appear that we may get that F4U this year. That cockpit is a work of art.

Yeah, the invasion of Japan was set for November. I'm sure a couple of carrier air groups would have had them aboard. They would have been real killers.

I'm going to have to look into this. I don't see why anyone would not have that amazing A4E. It's a payware quality airplane, for free! The F86 and the A4e are about the only Cold War jets that I have. Are there Sabres on the server, too?

It's tempting to believe that the F15E is ready for release, because of that 2022 and beyond film. But, of course, I've seen that before. An airplane appears finished, but two or three years late still hasn't been released. The F4U for instance. Thought it was any day, now. That was three years ago. But this sure looks good. It's gonna be flying off of the shelves, no pun intended. I think it's the airplane everybody is going to want to be in. It'll be hard to find an open spot online!

You really need to go back to aircraft identification class.

As a cancer survivor, myself, I wish you the same luck that that I was afforded. That was way back in 2002 and I'm still here. And enjoying the Hell out of DCS (I just purchased the Viper and the Syria map...damn!). It drives me crazy when people tear the sim apart. They just don't realize what they have here. Let's hope that this time next year we're both still flying. Who knows, maybe in the F4U!!

Damn...I'm just having fun using the rockets. And you're creating diagrams that prove one rocket goes 1.5 seconds faster than another! You guys must have no lives!! lol!!!

The thing is, that's not what DCS is about. It's about flying high fidelity military airplanes. It's about the aircraft, in here. Not about the battles they fought. It's not about the Battle of Britain, Guadalcanal, the Yalu River or Operation Rolling Thunder. They build incredible flight simulator combat airplanes. People like Reflected give us campaigns to use them in. But ED is concerned with the hardware of aerial combat. I like the approach, frankly. I don't want to see them turn into a "Great Battles" type of flight simulator. Let the guys at IL-2 do that. You can't get the complexity in the models that we have here, when you do that. It takes years to build a DCS airplane. In the same time IL-2 turns out a huge map, battles, a campaign and a dozen or so airplanes. That's fine, but I don't want that.

Considering the fact that we have a late model Mustang, late model Focke Wulf, and late model '109, I'd say you should be complaining about the Spitfire Mk9. Not the 109K. The Mk14 Spitfire should have been thrown into the mix. But guess what..the Luftwaffe guys would have been the ones crying, instead. Like somebody said, you aren't going to make everybody happy. But the Anton helped even things up, timeframe wise for the Spit. I love the Spit. I just simply don't fly it against the Kurfurst. If you want to, just knock their talent down a couple of notches, in the editor. Lower them down to trained (I think that's what it's called) or even rookies. And go kill'em. In the last year of the war, that's what most of them would have been anyway!

It's annoying when I read things like"...it's unplayable!" And yet...I'm playing it. Funny how that works. I have an ASUZ Zephyrus G14 laptop. It was top of the line last year, as a matter of fact it was best voted gaming laptop of 2020. But that was last year. It's no longer top of the line. It has an I7 processor that puts out 2.6 ghz. An RTX 2060 6 gb video card. And 16 gb of RAMM. I am running the Syria map as smooth as silk. I don't watch framerates so I can't give you those. They just don't interest me. If it's running smoothly and not causing my laptop to catch fire, I'm happy. I picked up the F16 and the Syria map during the Christmas sale and have been using nothing but them since I picked them up. I'm very happy with the purchases.
