  1. Oh, I want this. Flies beautifully. Had problems with that left engine overheating in the engine start tutorial, but now it's not doing it. Not sure what I'm doing differently. Letting it sit longer so the temps come up, maybe. I was on the fence but I decided to try it out. I'm getting it.
  2. It isn't even just air to air combat. Flying low, the ground passes by at a dizzying speed. With a one second delay, the target would be far behind you by the time the guns fired. Let's not be silly. This is wrong.
  3. At the speeds that air combats occur, having even a one second delay before the guns fire would mean that you'd lose most of your targets. It's ridiculous to think that's correct.
  4. I don't have the Mossie. Would like to get it, just can't do it right now. I was wondering, when you set up your controls to see your pilot in the cockpit, is you navigator there , too? I'm guessing not, or someone would have done a screenshot. If you can't, I hope they're working on that.
  5. Looking at the history of what has been built for this sim, I'm really doubting that you are ever going to see a PBY in here. Unless it's done by some modder. This sim is all about tactical fighter airframes.
  6. The A/B-26 Invader has been forgotten by combat flight simulator developers. And it saw combat in WW2, Korea, Viet Nam, Cuba, and so many other "small" conflicts around the world. No one has ever done this airplane. I'd love to see it.
  7. I guess that I hadn't seen the latest videos. The navigator is in quite a lot of those shots. Hopefully we'll be able to see him sitting next to us when we enable the pilot figure in the cockpit.
  8. .."Although going on what I saw in the latest video there was definitely a Navigator sitting alongside the pilot,.." I've seen what I thought were the latest videos, and I saw no one sitting next to the pilot.
  9. Just out of curiosity, what can't you do, mission wise, with those two airplanes? Mission makers and even campaign creators haven't been having any problems.
  10. Wow....unflattering, to say the least. If you like to dogfight, this isn't going to be your airplane. But, to be fair, that's not what it was designed to do.
  11. Graf, "strip K-4 from MW-50?" Give it a less powerful powerplant? I will look into that. Thanks.
  12. As someone who only flies Allied airplanes, I say yes. Please hang those big, heavy gunpods on the 109K. It'll slow it down, and make it a whole lot less maneuverable. I think it's a wonderful idea.
  13. The K was fast though. 20MPH faster than the Gustav. I would like to have seen the G, of course. It was built in the thousands, as opposed to the 700 or so copies of the Kurfurst. And no K's over Normandy as we know. They didn't even begin to roll off the assembly lines until November of '44. But, sorry. I'm derailing the thread. It's about the 190A.
  14. "They fly perfect, but at same time AI sucks at high alt. I don't know what is in idea of running spitfire away from Anton, just shot it down" Yeah, they're my favorite opponents, actually. I think that the 109K is a bit ridiculous, but maybe I'm wrong. It seems too fast, too maneuverable and climbs too quickly. I'm not an expert on the airplane, though, so maybe that's the way it was. But I've found myself thinking, "If the 109K was this good, what did the Luftwaffe need jets for!?"
  15. The trouble with flying against A.I. is that they fly perfectly. When we fly we may be using input controls that slow us down a bit. We probably don't always trim our airplane out for the fastest flying. But the A.I. do. I think that has a lot to do with it. Their turns are perfect, they never stall....etc. Flying against a human opponent to test it out is a good idea.
  16. "And of course aluminium was in short supply." Actually, I don't believe that it was. In 1944 alone, the U.S. built over 100,000 airplanes. The vast majority were metal. I think that De Havilland was preparing for the possibility that with the U-Boats controlling the Atlantic, one day there would be a shortage.

    Corsair Hype!

"The Spit a good DF but short legs so best for home defense. I would get the Mustang." What home defense? We're not talking about real life. The Spitfire can reach anywhere on the map. Go Spit if you want a dogfighter. Of course, that's if you're talking about the classic, tail chasing, type. Tight turning, fast climbing. I don't think you're going to outturn any airplane we presently have, in the Corsair. You'll have to stay fast. You know, what everyone likes to call "boom 'n zoom." But I like a turning airplane. In the WW1 sims I always grabbed the Sopwith Pups and Camels.
  18. "What you’re talking about is the detail needed for a WW2 naval sim, DCS is a flight sim. It’d be great to have ships with that level of AI, systems and damage modelling but I really don’t think it’s a realistic aspiration." Yeah, and I don't see it as necessary. As you said, it's a flight sim. I don't want it turned into War Thunder....not that there's a danger of that. '
  19. "you say when there’s more flyable modules maybe it’ll be time for a “BOB pack”, “defence of the Reich” pack etc with a flyable and AI bundled together." Lotsa wishful thinking, there. When has ED done bundles? That's IL'2's thing. Doubt if you'll see it in DCS. BOB pack? Don't hold your breath. If you did, you'd definitely be passing out. It takes so long to do one DCS quality airplane that a whole pack at once is a silly thing to be wishing for. I'm into quality and not quantity, Anyway, so I'm fine with that. Rather than wishing for a whole slew of airplanes, I'm excitedly waiting for that Corsair. And I haven't heard about this F6F you guys are talking about. More wishful thinking?
  20. I use the hat switch at the top of the joystick for the RPM's. Works great. I use the mouse for viewing so it's not a problem.

    ships

Please don't turn this into War Thunder. It's a flight sim, so let's leave it alone. Actually, as far as I know, the CVE's didn't carry F4U's very often. Their normal complement were Wildcats (FM-2) and Avengers.
  22. Just to clarify something that I'm not sure is true, or just some rumor that started. I know we're getting a carrier with the Corsair, but are we supposed to be getting an A.I. Zero with this release, too?
  23. Six years worth of posts and still no Corsair. And we're still seeing untextured screenshots. Got my fingers crossed, though. Marianas appears to be right around the corner, so maybe the F4U will be released about the same time. I'm the eternal optimist. Flying a DCS quality F4U Corsair over Pacific islands, shooting down Zeros, and operating from an Essex class carrier....well, we're talking flight sim nirvana.
  24. I grabbed it for the two week trial, and I'm finding that it's the easiest of the high fidelity jets to get into.
