Boy, are you confused. First of all, two flyable aircraft? Aren't you forgetting the Mustang? But, never mind that. I'm interested in the statement that I quoted, above. You'd better do some reading. By 1944 to'45, defending Germany agaianst air attacks by the USAAF and RAF was pretty much all that the German fighter wings were doing! What, "other way around" are you talking (writing) about? Are you under the impression that at this point in the war over Europe, Allied fighters were defending England against air attacks?

It's an early release. How many times does that need to be said. We 're getting the drop tanks and the template for the skinners. It's not as if you can't get to where youre going, the maps not all that large. If you purchase an early release module you have to go into it realizing some things aren't going to be there. No one knows when we're getting them. I doubt if ED even knows that. At some point, the guy who is working on it will say, "Okay, I'm done, let's kick this out the door!"

While some people are complaining that the Channel map is not a good representation of WW2 England, I don't see it as a problem. First of all, it's a combat sim. I like flying around low looking at the scenery, but I'm looking forward to FS2020 for that. It's supposed to be so accurate that you can fly over your own house! I also don't mind that some modern structures are there because I like the idea of a sandbox. I want to fly my jets there, too. And the Christen Eagle, and that new freeware Edge 540. And besides, when I'm flying combat and I'm trying to keep a '109 from shooting my tail off, I really don't care that some building on the ground is in the wrong place.

Syd, you have a whole lot more patience than I do. I understand. Sounds as though you're a perfectionist. That's good. I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do with the template. Thanks for the answer.

I'm impressed. They look good. Is there a way that you can move the cowlings of the two white P-47's, and put those cowlings on the USAF Standard?

You can't really compare the pricing of other games to DCS. At least, I don't think so. You play one of those other games, you beat it, it's over....now what? You spent sixty bucks on a few hours of entertainment. I bought the A-10C when it first came out. How long, ten years ago? I don't even remember. What was it then, fifty dollars? I'm still flying it. All the time. I'm still not not tired of that module. Fifty dollars for over ten years of fun? I'd say I got my money's worth. But, if you don't feel that way, this isn't for you. There's no point in anyone trying to justify the money spent, to you. It you have the passion for this sort of thing, you buy the modules. If you are asking the questions that you're asking, then you don't.

Glad to see that you guys lilke it so much. I had intended to pick it up along with the Jug, But I'm gonna have to wait to get the map. Just too many things going on, money-wise. Grabbed the P-47 alone. But it looks great, and I will be grabbing this. I'm happy that ED did it, cause their Caucasas map is still one one the best in the sim.

I would like to have flown around with that black and white checkerboard nose of the 78th Fighter Group. Go into the mission editor and stick the units code letters on the side and I could have used that for awhile. Or that red noseed job. Several outfits had red noses on their Jugs, including the 56Th. But I'm not going to fly a white P-47!

And the next one is the Mossie. So figure, what, fifteen or so before a BoB planeset is done? Maybe some enterprising young modder will do a Mk1 based on the Spit we have. I think that's the only way you're going to see it.

I was flying that excellant bomber escort mission that comes with the P-47. B-17's, P-47's, 109's and 190's all over the place! Here they come! I find that I can actually dogfight in this thing. I take pieces off of a 109. The text is sayinG "BF-109 Damaged" again and again, and suddenly, bam! Pow! I'm hit. I do a diving turn to the left. I lose him or somebody got 'im. I'm full of holes and I notice my left flap is gone. I'm also smoking. Oh damn...engine should be stopping any second. But no....this is a P-47, baby! None of that, one hit and your wing is off, crap. I'm still flying and still in the fight. I go after some more targets, scoring hits on a 190 and another 109. But my shooting sucks. No one's going down. Finally, the fghts over and we're sheperding the Fort home. I'm flying for a while before my Pratt and Whitney decides that she's had enough. But she gets me almost home, within site of a field, before packing it in. I head down to a really nice belly landing. No sweat. It's a Jug. After the fight I find out that I've been promoted to Lt. Colonel. Gotta love P-47's. I'm writing a thank you letter to Republic Aviation.

Of the three we have, two of them are that strange white, that some of the Mustang liveries have, also. Don't know what that's all about.

Can the A10 operate from a carrier? Oh geez! Really? But, as to the first question, is the A10C worth it? I will not dignify that with an answer. Oh, yes, I will! After all these years, it's still one of the best modules in DCS....and I have still not gotten tired of flying the beast.

No, but that video you showed looked incredible. I doubt if I'll ever see DCS like that. About a 2000 dollar computer with about 600 dollars worth of VR equipment, I'm guessing, right?

"What use is a still screen grab capture and one without FPS information? Tells people nothing!" I never think about FPS. As long as it's running smoothly I'm happy. I usually worry about heat. I have a heat monitoring app I run to watch that. I didn't even know how to check FPS! But I googled it and did an FPS check. Flew an airfield attack so there would be a lot of things going on. P-47's all over the place, 109's trying to take off, flak, fires...etc. 29 to 36 FPS. Now that might sound great to you guys with powerful computers, but I have an old laptop with a 2 gb Nvidea card. The only upgrade I ever did on it was to add memory. I have 20 GB's. I don't know how you guys with rigs 10 times better than mine are having a problem.

Then again, the P-47N had an even larger dorsal fin." I think you misunderstand something. The dorsal fin was there to fix the lateral instability problem...it didn't cause it.

Flex, I don't know what you just said, but I hope it wasn't,"Boy, this guy's an a#@hole!" And I don't have time to skin. I'm too busy flying! If, by the end of today, we don't have at least fifty skins to choose from.....heads will roll!
