  1. Maybe BackboneOne is trying to say that shadows projected on canopy glass show a very high contrast, thing that I'm experiencing too in certain lightning conditions. BackboneOne, since you write from russia, I can also suggest you to report in the Russian part of the forum, devs, afaik, are more active in that part of the forum (for obvious reasons :D )
  2. Guys you should really move these posts to another thread, not really related to the trees bug :) thanks!
  3. As topic says, is it possible to have the flat shadows color the same as non-flat shadows? With the latter, ground shadows look as a continuation of the aircraft self shadowing. With flat shadows as they are now, the illusion isn't there. Please take a look at the screens to see the difference: Flat Shadows Standard shadows
  4. Maybe your system is costantly rendering higher than 60 fps (idk, like 80-120) and you cannot notice the fps drop. But even if it drops from 120 to 80, there's a 33% of fps lost due very likely to a bug/optimization issue. It means that there are system resources used without reason that can be used to calculate other things (i.e.: IA battles). In my opinion is well worth investigation, if it turns out that is due to the old map though, I'd not bother trying to fix it :)
  5. A little update: the problem is present also with near view at high angles, I'll post screenshot/video asap
  6. Yep, was just about to post this. I have reduced the trees to 2000m, and monitored the vram usage. Well in some areas, with some type of trees, it is around 1800mb (so not saturated), and with very few trees in sight I have a tremendous fps drop. There's for sure something wrong with trees (some type of).
  7. I don't think that shot you're looking for exists. We've seen that effect only in Smartgraph sims screens, NTTR never showed it as far as I remember
  8. I also found that with shadows on "LOW", flat shadows on, Trees limited to 5000, at low altitude I still get stutter and low fps over trees. I'll have to learn gpu-z log feature, then I'll post the results.
  9. +1 good job!
  10. +1000 a dream come true
  11. Yup, the last post I made shows the settings also. I removed the mod of course. Video Ram: 2gigs. GPU-Z shows the 2 gigs immediately saturated as soon as I start any mission. Thanks!
  12. I tried the same mission of the track but without any unit in the map. The settings: Distant Trees + Clouds + and other stuff (counter shows 50 but it was increasing, it was really a stable 60) Near Trees: Thanks for taking the time to explore the possible issue, very appreciated
  13. You have a very hi-end machine and used lower settings, so not really a fair test comparison. But there is an important result though: with only 2 airplanes in the map, with no weather fx, no AI, no other units to take track of, you are oscillating through 80 and 120 fps. This means a 33% variation, which is A LOT in an empty mission. It's weird.
  14. Please see attached files. You can notice how fps drop only when looking at some trees agglomerates systeminfo.zip Track_Trees_Performance.trk
  15. I tried the no tree shadows mod, but trees are eating a lot of resources still. So I've given up and set trees to 5000, so now I feel flying on a desert but fps are decent. There is still the bug of pre rendered shadows even if trees are not visible:
  16. Isn't anyone else experiencing this issue? I can reproduce it very easily on my machine.
  17. This is the real issue. DCS is not a "cruise from A to B and enjoy scenery", it's a combat simulation. This shouldn't happen.
  18. +1, very needed feature
  19. The first shot is so cool, it looks like an access portal to the matrix :D
  20. As title says. This is a short video of the problem. Watch at the front gear lights of the A-10Cs on the ground: These are my settings: nVidia GTX 670 with 355.98 drivers Windows 8.1
  21. In the Q&A videos last month was said that weather fx system is going to be overhauled, so I think we have just to wait to see these fixed...
  22. Update: tried with flat shadows on, but trees still made fps go insanely down. So I installed the mustang mod to remove tree shadows. The problem is gone.
