Flying near trees causes great fps loss.
OttoPus replied to OttoPus's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Thanks, I'll search and try that mod, and report back. But I think the issue remains here: the level of detail I see from near field trees is not so greater than distant trees, I wonder why such performance hit. -
Not easy to describe, but I'll try: flyin with certain angle and distance to some trees agglomerates, produces great loss of fps (near 50%). In example: Near trees in view, FPS 30-ish Now the same exact location, but the view to distant trees, 60fps Another Example: Distant trees, smooth Now the same trees, but nearer, stutterfest: Could it be related to the calculations needed for the trees shadows? Or maybe to tree shadows LODs?

I tried, attached the result. I'm noticing that also other items have a fancy anti-aliasing applied, despite the 16xQ MSAA setting...

As in the attached screenshot. nVidia GTX 670 nVidia drivers are 355.98 Windows 8.1 In the nVidia control panel I have the antialiasing set to "application controlled" My DCS settings:

How's the input lag? Does it bother you in close formation flying? -

As the new modules from ED/Belsimtek came out (like the Mig-15, or the L-39), it became clear what's the lastest visual quality standard for the modeled aircrafts cockpit and external model visuals. The Warthog, with its 4 years old model, shows its age, and it's not comparable to the new big boys. It would be great, as a payware add-on, to see some fresh cockpit and external model visual realism upgrade for our beloved A-10C. Thanks for reading :)

Can anyone post some screens at night plz? :)

Aaaand it stops being a DISCUSSION forum. If we all think the same thing, there is no discussion. You don't want comments on your video? Do not show it to other people. It's just simple as that...

lol, 20fps or so?

Also have a question about shadows: in the last Wags video (the Mirage 2000 one), we see very strong, high contrast shadows projected on the cockpit glass. Is this a bug to fix or it's a feature? I don't find them very realistic in their actual status. We see also the aircraft ground shadows disappear for few moments every now and then, but It think that's only a temporary bug.

M-2000C for DCS World by RAZBAM - Available for Pre-Purchase
OttoPus replied to MemphisBelle's topic in M-2000
With no visual cues it's not funny though. People loves simulations because they simulate things, if I can't see what's simulating, it's a little bit pointless if you know what I mean :D -

Considering that DCS World does not simulate terrain deformation, it could result in a not very useful weapon. -
DCS World Video News and Q&A for September 20th, 2015

Thanks for the video! Was the "smart scaling" option been activated for the ground vehicles in this recording session? -
Pre-Purchase NEVADA Test and Training Range
OttoPus replied to KEULE's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Just pointing out that there is an etiquette and appropriate places/tones to make critics. Things written like he did, imho just sound "unconstructive blame"; he was clearly stating his opinion about what he saw in the video (which is the very reason a forum exists) in a place it doesn't belong (because it's more a wishlist kind of statement) and in a rude manner, which I found inappropriate. No sarcasm intended (English is not my first language either). Back to the topic, sorry for the deviation. -
Pre-Purchase NEVADA Test and Training Range
OttoPus replied to KEULE's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
This kind of criticism is not allowed in this forum, sorry. If you have to say that the map at this developement status looks blurry , you have to ask a question, like this: "Thanks for the video! The NTTR is coming along great, very nice. The new colors look very realistic. Are the textures the final ones? Because I think (but maybe is due to the Youtube compression) that they look a little bit blurry at medium/low altitude. Great work though! Already pre-purchased!" And only then you can get (maybe) a decent response/reaction, otherwise you get some very aggressive behaviour. Sorry for the "lesson", maybe you are new to ED forums. Now to what you ask: 1) as far as we know, Matt is doing these videos in his spare time. You just have to thank him for his effort and making us see things before they are released. I know, it's weird that an ED employee has to do these ( today essential ) community teasing and communication tasks in his spare time, but apparently these are the ED politics about advertising. If you have something to blame about, send ED an email or stop buying their stuff, don't get mad at Wags, who's doing a great job imho. 2) If you have some specific request about the news Q&A videos, there are appropriate threads for the videos coming, where you can (IN A CIVIL MANNER, not saying "this is boring" ) ask something you would like to see / been clarified. 3) about the blurry map textures, it has been stated several times that is due to performance reasons. :pilotfly: -
Just a question for mods: - the only official info are those stated in the first post (or newsletters AFAIK) - every question asked about DCS 2.0 is replied with "the only official word is in the first post" - every request for updates is inhibited - NO official (or un-official for that matter) response from the team ever came in this thread I wonder what the purpose of this thread is. Wouldn't be better simply to comment with a thread the single piece of info/video/whatever when they are officially published instead of a huge post filled with nothing? And maybe let this thread be as info-only with the first post and nothing else. This, or some rules must be changed. At least some official response or insight every now and then, otherwise this thread is simply put useless IMHO. Just my 2 cents

This YEAR? I was really, really hoping it was "next month", not later than that :no_sad::no_sad: At least now we know that "10%" of a project means "not least than 6 months delay" :D

Helmet mounted display to be added at some point?
OttoPus replied to Serp Supreme's topic in DCS Wishlist
It's a sim, visuals are 3D objects rendered with limited details at a limited distance. In real life, with optimal daylight with good weather, you don't have such limitations and the point made by tigersden is perfectly correct. BUT We are not in real life, and visual spotting of ground (and air) targets is very limited by graphics engine and viewport (monitor distance, dimension, resolution, etc) limitations. So that point makes less sense to me. My 2 cents :) -
Nice graphics :D

Oh lol it happens all the times in Georgian Oil War campaign: simply accomplish your 2 hours sortie killing all the enemy tanks, land in Batumi, park at the parking spot, wait a minute, then another aicraft spawns right where you are. Obviously the two ac get in pieces. Then you committed fratricide, not the AI-spawning thing. YOU. lol :D
