Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
ApoNOOB replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Two Mi8 is simply not enough to get the job done in most situations. If a helicopter "can't make it there" it's superior speed will be useless. What if random-non-comm blokes block the spot? What if you need to build defenses and attack at the same time? And even more important, what if you have a lot of dedicated trans pilots, should they sit out because of this? That calculation microvax did, I think is a little silly, if this is the stuff robbing you guys sleep please just put both trans helo's on both sides again please. -
Big thanks to upuaut for making this possible, you are doing great work and getting this officially into DCS:World is like an medal of honour. Looking forward to try to lift all that stuff. :)

Apparently I got this with the DelanwareClip confused. Can't find anything on Ebay either, maybe sold out right now?
-
I have been itching to buy this since my TrackClip is really wrecked now, so much that even while taped together ingame experience gets 'wobbly' since it's not 100% fixed anymore. But in this forum (don't make me find the thread^^), somebody claimed he had undesireable outcomes with the LukeClip. If I remember right he had problems tracking his LEDs in the way the old TrackClip did or something like that. I really would love some feedback from owners of this, especially power users.

I think mission builders should use ideas presented by BS-team, but asking them to release a SDK (and probably support it in the future) is a bit much to ask. Think how much work they put into their project and now we ask to give it away - putting them in an awkward position to refuse. Generally mission builders can learn A LOT from the buddyspike team and personally, since blueflag other MP-missions (non persistent, no progress after mission restart etc.) don't interest me much anymore. :) I am watching this thread 24/7 as much as the next guy, but please refrain from being pushy and also stop the passive aggressive tone with questions like "so this is over now?" since nobody on the receiving end - EVER - appreciated such behaviour. :) edit: Also if a post only consists of 'yeah', '+1!', or just 'Thanks!' chances are you could have just used the rep system or said nothing. Afterall we are all getting excited seeing the thread bumped, expecting some Blueflag news... Thanks. :)

Hey guys, sorry I don't want to be Betty here... But did you get around to updating SimpleRadio yet or is it a problem on my end? Sorry I don't want to bug you but I use your server to test if my SR is working, no pressure. :D

Has been stated time and time again that moderators of the forum do NOT speak for ED. Not moderators, not testers - only devs speak for ED. So please stop pretending there was an official answer from ED and everyone should just 'practice some more'.
-
Moderator is not ED dev. I don't know why half of the post's in this thread are from you, without really adding something, just arguing semantics. :) On topic: I agree completely and this wish has my support.
-
Don't spoiler grrr! :D
-
So happy to get this patch especially about the Gazelle fixes. :) Thank you ED! Looks very good from the notes, I think this will be a huge difference in the future: Kneeboard. "Added support of localized folder inside mission" edit: Also before people race home from work, it's not live yet. edit2: Patch is live, you may race home now. :D

Would be great to be able to eject eg. leave the aircraft. It's really an issue in SP when I can't spawn a new plane without killing myself. For example load mission -> tail brakes off on spawn -> reload mission again. :P Also thinking about MP scenarios where we can rescue downed pilot's, if I can't get out on the ground nobody can script something 'to rescue pilots'... :P Same prob with BST helis honestly. :)
-
Yeah please check, couldn't get SR working with 1.2.2.0 with Gazelle intercom & UHF between flights.
-
Only had two or three flights in multicrew so far but loved them completely. It really is something else now, DCS on a totally different level. When I did a little multicrew in the L-39, it wasn't even close to the immersion and fun with the Gazelle. :) I second the wish for some kind of feature to see the mouse input of the other player but I guess this is something we have to ask ED about? In hand with that, it would be really great to see on the control indicator where the other pilots inputs are in case you need to take over the controls. Maybe also another (player) seat for a passenger? If I have two noobs and need to train up both of them at the same time for example. Real pilots can't do that outside a simulator, ha! :D BTW we had a lot of little quirky bugs aswell, I gotta dig into the bug report section a bit and see what is already reported.
-
ED should please consider to atleast make a patch/hotfix for the recently released modules... I don't mind waiting, but when we have patches already provided by 3rd party devs, which don't make it in for whatever reason, watching weeks go by without a new patch is very painful. :)

Sorry, I mean the grid system which is used L/L, L/L Decimal & MGRS. Sad news about the slingloads, but stability > all! ^^ I am up for any tests if you want. :)
-
Hi, just started flying on your server, it's really cool for heli copter training. Love it! :) A small request, could the F10 menu stay up a little longer when requesting tasks? I am terrible slow with writing down all the info and find myself rerequesting a lot of tasks. Have you any plans for slingload cargo or did you try it recently? (I think there were issues in MP some patches ago) edit: Oh another thing, would it be possible to display different types of coordinates?
-
While I have you two here... :P Any chance for LotAtc to be able to use data from SRS, for example, being able to see freqs like on the buddyspike homepage in LotAtc?

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 8
ApoNOOB replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
rant I would be very grateful if people stop treating this thread as a chat room. Exploiting of certain functions in DCS has been an issue since round 1. The lack of sportsmanship on both sides is appalling and having played on red&blue I feel very confident in saying that. It goes basically like this, some guy finds something, which gives some kind of unfair advantage. It's totally clear, from a fairplay POV this is not ok. And quickly the argument will go along the lines: "But the other side is doing XY, it's ok to use exploit Z!!11" or even more pathetic: "But we are outnumberd 3:1, so it's okay to exploit Z!!1" The other side will see this as justification also and argue that the other side does it also blabla. I have heard this on both sides over TS3 VARIOUS TIMES. Fact is we have some issues in DCS that can not be really fixed or prevented from BS side. It is to the community, each team on their own, to create an environment of fairplay and hold each other to it. If it comes from the other team it's always just a circle of accusations. Seriously, STOP what you think is some kind of friendly banter, it's not. Most of the time it's very stupid trolling which escalates the smallest things (in this thread and allchat on the server) into distracting flame wars. Every issue brought up ends in a circle jerk of "but your side!1" honestly, if you still think in terms of "the red team" or "the blue team" I pity you. You apparently in round 8 still haven't managed to recognize the nice chaps in the other team and haven't played with them once. Seriously, if somebody still has any notions of that kind, switch the team ASAP to have them dispelled. I swear after you hear the tinfoil hat theory after a server crash, that this is clearly BS team featuring the 'other side' you will have to laugh tears and see it's the same conspiracy everywhere. :D So this is my appeal to everyone, on each side: Play fair, stop the trolling, your 'cute cheeky little competetive banter' is not what you think it is. It starts a vicious kindergarten fight most of everytime. Hold your team to the standard you want to hold the other team. So if you plan to play unfair on my team in the future expect some kind of shitstorm & denunciation. Keep this thread on topic, constructive and don't bloody attack each other everytime and if you think somebody did, stand above it. /rant (sorry if you guys think this undeserved, but this outburst has been building up ~20 pages <3) On topic: about airframes quickly respawning on an airfield under attack, as dedicated transport I have to admit, that I find hot choppers on airfields very problematic. If your GCI can somehow see the enemy approaching choppers, it is very easy to just spam airframes towards them and do a lot of damage and or bind the CAP to hunt a chopper up to 8 times. I had this situation earlier when Nalchik was under attack and I could spawn very quickly and be on may way. (I saw JTAC IR in NVG^^) My suggestion: all choppers cold, whole map. -
Some key binds coloured red since 1.5.4
ApoNOOB replied to Cibit's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Having trouble with greyed out chat bindings since the last patch, anyone else? -
Just stumbled on this in passing, terrible news and a real punch into the gut. My deepest sympathy for all of his family and friends. :(

Nevada Tonopah Air Force Base?
ApoNOOB replied to ThorBrasil's topic in DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range
You should have been around long enough to know that we don't get the info unless it is very close to release. -
I would love to see you guys tweak the 'Instant Missions' nobody needs 4x target range, but cold start, T/O from RWY should be in atleast. The only hot start has a bloody ceiling which auto aborts the mission. Everytime I want to fly Gazelle SP I have to go the annoying way over create fast mission, nearly every module has atleast a hot start in instant action, please add. :)

With the setting 'Radio switch works PTT' Radio Button 1 is the PTT key for that radio. Without that setting I believe you need to select the radio (still with Radio 1-3 hotkeys) you want to transmit to and push the SR-PTT button. If you have a TM Warthog for example you can bind your 4 way mic switch to the three radios plus another free for TS3 etc. Maybe a small text hint on that page would be good to explain? Some kind of questio mark you can hover your mouse over and a tooltip appears... :) What I saw a few times and did wrong myself, was people binding SR PTT + TS3 PTT on the same button and transmitting on both and causing confusion. How are people with other hardware that needs modifiers for example dealing with the hotkeys? Maybe that would be good to talk about to help others quickly set up. BTW a request, I believe every restart SR selects the soundoutput based on my 'windows default setting for sound' (?), I change this a lot around between my headset and speakers. Could the setting I choose please be saved between SR restarts? Another question and possible feature request, how would normal players go about reporting abuse? If for any reason I want to report to server admin "user X says Y" is there any way for players (or even admins) to monitor which player is speaking? I guess this is probably pretty easy to isolate via the frequencys but might get more difficult if there are more players. No idea how much info the server admin currently has. I just wanted to throw that out, not even with specific eye on BS events, but this stuff is sadly sure to come up in the future with, it's the internet afterall. :)

Small wish: In newest version when I join slot as CA all freqs are set to 1.000. Now I have to tune all the way 251 etc. np, but if I have a disconnect / crash for any reason, I have to redo it. Could freqs be remembered between sessions? I know just a small thing, but for me as GCI those few secs could save virtual lives or take them :D edit: Disregard me, SR Team is faster. This apparently works already fine as long as DCS doesn't crash. After normal DCS restart without restarting SR Radio&overlay all freqs were kept.

I have seen this exact discussion a few years ago in the Project Reality community with PR:Mumble. Let me all spare you years of trial and error, getting a complete community on to comms, there is only one way. ^^ 1. Integrate SR to start with DCS, further simplify installer (the worst computer guy needs to be able to install this) 2. make SR auto connect to the servers you join. 3. Make it mandatory & actively enforced by admins. This ensures that everyone is on the same structure and atleast reachable. We can get feature 1&2, but without 3 you will never get the most of the community on SR. I have read this exact same discussion, pro & con, years ago in the PR community. If you look over now, everyone is a PR:Mumble (their SR) believer. I bet BMS had the same process at one point with IVC. People will wriggle around this issue as hard as they can, I don't like the installation, people annoy me, change sucks. etc. etc. Yes people will come up with good sounding reasons not to use it. But for the community at large, and because of the the reasons that speak for SR, I think all should step back and consider if this might not be best for us all. Sorry if this sounds super elitist and I really don't want to attack somebody personally or their reasons to NOT use SR. I don't want to piss you guys off, I just REALLY want you to use SR instead. <3 edit: Also I keep hearing the casual/brevity thing. That is pure nonsense, it's 'cluttered comms' vs 'not cluttered comms'. People don't learn the brevity calls to make them sound super smart 'just like a real pilot!11 lol you nerd'... xD The reasons is more like this: I with my german barely to understand english, can make calls to my american/russian/brazillian/french etc. friends and they know what I want in a simple and brief manner. These procedures are easy to learn for everyone, because NATO designed them like that. Same with most aviation stuff lingo. If you are on a public teamspeak after months of DCS MP and still are unable to make a BRA call - you are seriously failing your buddys. :)
