Skulleader's P-51D cockpit v1.0
ApoNOOB replied to Skulleader's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
IC will show as passed untill you actually try to connect to a server / spawn in the AC the mod is used in. I saw many mod creators fall for this trap already: "But my IC is passed!", "Try connecting.", "oops" :D -

Also english cockpit mods etc. :(

Mustang's land textures zip file package
ApoNOOB replied to Mustang's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Any official word from ED on this? There seems to be the idea, ED want's to block texture mods, which I find silly when looking at the official starway support. Is this maybe unintended change while fixing something on the IC system? Bug report it? -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9

I think this is very indicative for the state the BF 'community' has been in for a while. Any issue simply has to be mixed with some 'friendly banter' e.g. 'your side can not x', 'your side always does Y'. In case you haven't noticed, that is not friendly banter but baiting. Baited people will 'friendly banter' (which it isn't) back and nobody ever talked about the issue you wanted to talk about. Why not cut this needless shit? Do you honestly believe that red is the holy side, where skill flows and nobody ever teamstacked? If yes, sorry that is not the case. If not, why bombard your own argument? Honestly, I am afraid to log into the server because of how toxic this has become. And with this I specifically don't mean the person I quoted but the community at large. (Sorry if it sounds as if I bash on your^^) -
Through The Inferno (Dynamic DCS) - Public US Server

Hey just had my first flight on your server. Mi-8 slots 1&2 @ senaki, I was in nr 2 and nr1 joined in, damaging himself fatally and me lightly. The common SR helicopter frequency suggested in the briefing is not a channel the MI8 can tune into. (Mi8 FM only via channels) Didn't even get my heli off the ground, base attack... Was kinda cool. But so far it only happened to me once... :D -

But people that do rename to easy and known callsigns help a lot. I might not know how something is pronounced, weird number/letter combos where I have to think first etc. Also it enables the GCI to quickly grasp who is working/communicating together on seperate radios. About the F10 map again, I don't think if we try it, many people will get frustrated/really hindered by it. As pilots of all airframes stated it's not really an issue for anybody but really new guys who don't know their navigation aids. On the other hand I really enjoy the flightplanning/nav stuff, especially in my long transport flights and would enjoy some more challenge there. I think nobody is really set on it either way, but it would be neat to try it out. :) -

Mi8 pilot here: I do actual flightplanning, plotting navaids etc. F10 map does NOT affect us like that. This is even a little demeaning. :D Don't look at rotorheads with F10 - not our problem. This is a FC3 problem.^^ -

About the Shark issue, should we make a wishlist request to ED for a feature(server or ME setting) that disables the 'all seeing ABRIS on spawn'? Seems like a big balancing issue that would only get more annoying over time. Imagine MP servers getting more and more stable, but the small things like this bite us. :) On a similar issue, I never thought the Huey door gunners had any place on blueflag. But neither do manpads hidden in forests... So what does this silly Mi8 pilot know. :) -
Not to be harsh either but the sound quality is really that bad. :(

The simplest would be to just download the installer, specify the install directory into your Steam directory and the installer should recognize all the existing files. Protip(if done as described above): delete retail.cfg and start DCS over steam -> you will have the module manager (standalone) but still have access to the Steam features.^^

I nominate Cribob https://forums.eagle.ru/member.php?u=112175 for his revolutionary work on SimpleRadio and his greatly valued contributions to the Buddyspike Blueflag Team. And for CTLD of course!

Your linked source has nothing to do with the issue at hand. I am aware of that post and it is not about beta patches (for example beta for 1.5) but different branches. Again, a vocal minority has spoken out against early access. To clarify, there were a bunch of capslock threads, that are frequent, over issues close/on release. I dare you to make this assertion over on the steam forums right now. I dare you. Overwhelming sentiment has been, that the delay on beta releases (not completely different branches 1.5 vs. 2.0) is unnecessary. I understand you do not speak directly for ED but are a voluntary mod but your tag gives your opinion weight... To put it nicely, you are not in touch with the dcs-steam community.
-
This is straight out wrong. If you take the time to look at the relevant threads you will notice that most of the active users in the community really want the same release dates / early access / beta etc. as the standalone community. Major frustrations come from the delay between steam&standalone versions. Yes there is always a vocal minority that whines at every issue, but it's intellectually dishonest to suggest the steam community likes to wait months for releases. Not true, this won't work like you suggest. To have full access to steam features the game needs to be fully installed. (Gametime tracking, community screenshots etc.) This pisses me off a bit, since we get this a lot as 'counter argument' against Steam client. And it's plain wrong. :)
-
This is going to happen. I accept it as a fact. 1. Customer buys Steam modules. 2. New module is released and not on Steam for weeks/months/years. 3. Customer try's to migrate to standalone. 4. Customer rages. There is a bunch of dedicated people that do support over on steam forums and this is going to be a nightmare for us. Not to mention the weird discussions I am going to have with casual DCS friends who are all over Standalone/Steam and somehow having to explain to them why this stuff got even more complicated than it already is. I always accepted the old solution, since when in doubt you could always migrate to standalone without any downsides. That's something I can explain with a straight face. But it's getting too complicated now especially when taking new customers into consideration. We need a new solution, this can not be the future. :)

Steam community is there, people use steam, people like steam. If you don't believe it, check activity here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/223750 There have always been issues with the standalone vs. Steam client differences. If anyone honestly thinks this situation is not going to explode in our faces once the first purchases are made that are not compatible with each other... You are in denial. :) And let me assure you, the steam crowd explodes fast, loud, with bad reviews and little room to reason with.
-
Yes but commenting on every whishlist item with this attitude is problematic. You are not policing ED's resources and you can see what kind of rift this mindset might cause in the WW2 vs modern discussions. Better weather at somepoint will not stop bugs from getting fixed, have some confidence in ED. WW2 planes will not stop modern planes from being made etc. Also big lol @"it's a COMBAT sim!!111"
-
I hear this accusation a lot but have never actually witnessed anybody abusing GCI slots this way. Also I know of no server admins that wouldn't take action on this when told. Imho the severity of the problem is overstated. Better to enforce communications for GCI.

You can change your coordinate system (for the F10 map!) in the options and there is also a key binding to cycle them. Forgot it right now, I need to look it up everytime^^ But it should be under 'general' somewhere.

Ouch, I didn't know that. Anyway glad the issue is fixed, since I had the same joystick once and flew the A-10C a lot, maybe this can help you: http://imgur.com/He2Lq That way my old stick was setup, each number is for one of the buttons I used as a modifier+POV hat.

Update killed my favorites again. :D Yesterday red team on BF claimed they couldn't use SR, because it was bugged for parts of the team. Why don't bug reports in here reflect that? -.-

We have such a nice list of pending Viggen updates, really disappointed. :(

Flight model in all other flightsims is inferior to DCS. That is not even worth argueing about, the lines in the sand are very clear. The closest sim is X-plane and over there the 3rd party devs struggle to come up with something that comes even close to DCS. I own said sim and various high level studysim aircraft and feel that I am not talking out of my ass here. :D What does hinder me to do IFR approaches and procedures in DCS? Really what are you talking about? Wrong headings because of magnetic variation? Or did they get for example NTTR all wrong? And even more with that logic our other Jet's and heli's in DCS wouldn't need precision instruments. Can't even do it why have it? Really confused. Why is ED developing a garmin then? By the way your last sentence sounds very clear like you are on of the 'ED shouldn't make X but Y' kind of guy. As I said I don't see the conflict. A 3rd party making a GA aircraft 'steals' nothing from you. ED making a GA airplane doesn't block the production of other things. You can see the arguments on this line of argument being regularlry dismantled in WW2 topics. I get it. No WW2. No time area X. Only what YOU want. And you will strongly argue against something that YOU don't want. Okay. But atleast back it up. DCS devs have shown that they tend to go for aircrafts they have access too. What better plane in this than C172?
-
While there is the crowd that bleats 'no way something that can't shoot has no place in DCS!1' or 'I'd rather buy XY' I think it's proven fact in many threads that there IS a demand for GA aircraft in DCS. That has nothing to do with wanting to change what DCS is (in respect to the C) but that we have maybe the best flightsim around and are not really using it to it's full potential. People keep sending me over to FSX, P3D and X-plane for my GA needs but simple truth is, they can't satisfy me. DCS flightmodel can. DCS theatres can. People are very vocal about ED/3rdy partys NOT making GA aircraft under the impression that this would take away from other projects. I think that is very far fetched and I am 100% sure that we will get GA aircraft in DCS at some point. Maybe not this year, not the next, but they will come. It just makes sense!
