  1. You look like you have a top rig..do you run 4k or multi displays? Perhaps the wrong combination of game settings can cause issues even on top hardware.
  2. When your fps is cut in half you promise not to complain? I like nice clouds too but the fluidity and high frame rate is more important in this combat flight sim. Think FSX with REX2 and VRS FA-18 .A dream combination...hell no. Not enjoyable because of sluggish feel and poor frame rate. And frankly not played because of it. ED has to balance performance with good visuals. The visuals that are coming with the Caucasus update and the many exciting modules on the near horizon show that DCS is sim heaven for most who play it. I think you can expect better looking clouds in the future but the photorealistic ones in the pictures are for the next iteration of DCS world.
  3. Yeah post your settings and hardware first and the guys will assist you.
  4. :thumbup:Will give it a bash..cheers
  5. Just flew the quick start A10C CAS mission in Normandy in the rift. The labels are a mess to be honest. Its probably been suggested before but how about .....1(one) description for the same vehicles in a group and the rest as dots only!!......Instead of the overlapping descriptions currently. Btw this mission was a staggerfest before but after putting DCS 2.1 on a brand new 480gb ssd its at least playable in VR.
  6. I have found that setting the shadows to high in the left panel...the shimmering is much improved in Nevada.
  7. DCS 2.1 After putting the shadow quality in the left settings panel to high I noticed a much cleaner image in the rift in the medium distance over Vegas. A hell of a lot less shimmering and cleaner and more pleasing to my eyes. FPS still looks good in Nevada...1080gtx
  8. Try setting your gamma in game to 1.2 or 1.3 for nighttime. Thankfully you can change it while on the fly. With this setting the ground does not glow as much and banding in the sky is reduced. You will need your night vision if you have it. It seems more realistic this way but improvements are needed from ED to use VR at night.
  9. Thanks a bunch for this...works wonderfully in nevada:thumbup: Hope the other modules get fixed real soon too.+1
  10. Hey man I hear you...but what you expect and what you get are different in VR. Plenty of much more knowledgeable folk on this forum than me. Do some digging around. Best of luck
  11. Try that gamma in the middle of the night with no sun illumination....its way too high. You dont need your night vision! Somewhere between 1.2 and 1.3 and it doesnt appear washed out and wrong. Would like to see contrast and brightness controls in the game too because at night the ground glows.
  12. As a feature request I would like an option to press system time into the open mission editor instead of having to do it manually every time.
  13. Press the VR preset and adjust slowly up from there.Quite a number of your setting are pushed higher than these. Maybe push terrain and textues to high.Water too if you think medium is ugly and dark. Pixel density to 1.5. Any more and busy missions become unplayable due to low framerate. ps...tried that mission too and its bordering on unplayable due to the amount of units..who makes these unrealistic missions?????
  14. Easier way in the rift is to use middle mouse to shift your position forward or back a touch. Back a couple works well in the a10c. You should start up centered anyway.Left alt + c to bring back your pointer to screen. You can map a key on your hotas to recenter the view in the rift in the settings ui layer tab.
  15. Would you care to share it Cibit:D
  16. The hue didnt seem to work Cibit as I set it in stark grey. Set digital vibrance to 40% and that seems to make the pixels less glowy. Or it could be just placebo to my ageing eyes!" Edit: had digital vibrance set to 0% but ti seems to affect the 3d effect so I will leave at 40%
  17. Will try..thanks Cibit.
  18. Seriously the Gazelle gives you the rollercoaster effect...sweats...exhilarations...vertigo with a dose of nausea to boot. Its tremendous in DCS 1.57.
  19. Try the Gazelle in realistic mode..that will bring the nausea back. Have a sick bag close by...its a blast:pilotfly: In 2d you would follow a train track for a bit and quickly get bored. In VR you follow the track for miles..catch up to the life size train(much smaller in 2d) and look in the bored drivers face as your going by grinning like a cheshire. What a hoot VR is in DCS.
  20. Just had another "wow holy sh***t" moment in the rift after the free flight night in the Huey.dcs1.57 :megalol: The only downside is the washed out sky and banding. What do you guys use for contrast/brightness/gamma adjustment in the rift?? Or can these be adjusted at all in VR??
  21. As far as I know 512 is the real life resolution.
  22. Hats off to ED for a great game in VR. Had the rift a couple of days and first impressions were not good. The low resolution sucked big time after playing in 4k. But after setting up the touch controllers and playing the free Robo Recall and Dead and Buried my impression of the rift changed dramatically for the better. You can see where this is going. The fun ramps up exponentially. After shelling out 36euro to get VR working in my FSX and playing for a couple of hours I put on DCS 2.1 Nevada and what a difference. DCS is much smoother and playable and really its amazing overall. When the next generation of VR headsets comes out with higher resolution DCS will only get better. So thanks ED for not requiring a fee to play DCS in VR.:pilotfly:
  23. Man a holiday then back to your toys...you lucky son of a gun. Enjoy:thumbup:
