  1. I've posted two tracks in a zip file for you to look over. 1st track Hi PRF stay Hi PRF locking up a low head on contact at about 25km in Hi PRF the contact turns away enters the notch and turns cold the system loses lock at the notch so switches to EOS lock the contact is fully cold now but only EOS lock remains R-27ER fired on cold target dead off the rail 2nd track Hi PRF switch Med PRF locking up a low head on contact at about 25km in Hi PRF immediately switching to Med PRF the contact turns away enters the notch and turns cold the system loses lock at the notch so switches to EOS lock the contact is fully cold now but the system reacquires radar lock and also maintains EOS lock R-27ER fired on cold target and immediately starts tracking By switching PRF during lock not only does it help keep a radar lock on the contact but also if you lose track totally eg. the contact is slow low heat source then you immediately are at Med PRF at the drop to continue scanning in the optimal PRF setting. It has been like this since LOMAC. The AI is not a very good practice partner, they are predictable and don't try and hide from you. Multiplayer has so much variation in the opponents you face trying new tactics out works in mp because of this and the lack of an all knowing AI. There are so many tricks you can pick up in mp that you just couldn't do against the AI. PRF test.rar
  2. Imagine being in Hi PRF and seeing a contact low at 20km turn to try and notch he will disappear of scope until you switch to Medium, if you repeat the situation but lock the contact up, when he turns cold you will lose lock and your system will switch to EOS lock. To alleviate this during lock you switch to Medium PRF. There is no indication to tell you this but it does work but it requires you to remember the sequence of PRFs, ILV-Hi-Med. A tip is to reset PRF to set you back to ILV so you can work the sequence. It is a quirk of the sim as I believe the radar set locked onto a target should automatically set PRF and know whether the target is look down or look up.
  3. Once they've been trashed by notch or chaff they are dead. If you purposely drop the lock and you lock up the contact again the missile usually starts tracking again depending on the situation.
  4. Set it at 999am then nobody can get GCI calls.
  5. In the ME select the unit, click advanced waypoint actions - perform command/set freq.
  6. If you want to remove GCI calls you just set the EWR frequency to something unattainable such as 999am.
  7. Please stop with the strawman. The topic is how to make the Su27 more of a viable option and get away from the Mirage v Mirage situation. I enjoy blueflag immensely but only because I enjoy flying strike aircraft and helis. The Flanker is a chore before a challenge.
  8. So facts, tacviews and numbers are subjective? I'll keep working on the Su27 don't worry like I said the issue is not myself. I remember splashing your Mirage many times can't say I noticed the reverse happening though.
  9. The problem with this is it's not one guy suggesting change is it?
  10. So you don't have anything. This is because you're struggling to find an effective advantage for the Flanker. I think I nailed your idea of Flanker tactic on the head, fly around in the weeds and wait for something to crop up, is that becoming of team play or airquake?
  11. From my understanding you saw that through GCI so had no idea what happened, it was probably a serious degradation of SA for the Flanker pilot from being low. Case in proof.
  12. It's pretty simple then prove your case by describing the magic Flanker tactic that puts it on equal footing. No smoke with pointless radar ranges 10 times the actual missile effectiveness, magic eos and rwr.
  13. You seem to think i'm on some hiding to nothing flying the Flanker, the purpose of this discussion is to get more Flankers in the air not to make it any easier for me personally. The reason less and less Flankers are being flown is because it is inferior. You won't accept that but instead claim they need to change tactics but haven't come up with any? I've got to explain to you the difference between low and high missile fight, here? You might as well go back to your 1v1 airquake because thats all its good for.
  14. Please enlighten us on these tactics? Hide, play dead or do what stikers do and run or defend for your life. Have you even flown the Flanker on red and if not then how on earth can you have a valid opinion. I bet you believe the eos is some magic tool, i'm sure you don't realise that it doesn't see Mirages much past 25km. Let me explain what tactics a Flanker needs to use in this situation. Teamwork, outnumbering the enemy and out positioning him. To out number the enemy you need more numbers, well when all is balanced in a number restricted server numbers should be even, so this is not a viable tactic, when defending outnumbered it just gets ridiculously impossible. Teamwork and outpositioning the enemy, to do this you need good SA with your buddies and the bandits. Datalink provides this, it is not consistent and i'm sure there would be more times you don't see friendly and bandit than you do. Without Datalink the Mirage and F-15 has far superior SA with superior RWRs that give a birdseye view of your surroundings whether your spiked or not, plus the ability to stay high and utilise the radar for max effect, you can do this because you have the longest stick. You try to be high in a Flanker and gain some SA you're going to get spanked like the tacview I showed earlier of how much faster the 530 is vs the 27R, that being in the advantageous position of being high vs the Mirage low, just imagine co-altitude or even worse the Flanker low. So SA wise it is all down hill for the 27. So currently in BF you have to be low with less SA than your opponents, an eos that doesn't see the Mirage too well and weaker missiles. Is this a viable tactic? The fact is you don't know squat about flying the Flanker in BF and fail to acknowledge the ability of the pilots that do fly them. This is such an over used and wrong statement, the Mirage loses lock just the sameway FC aircraft lose lock, it's called the notch Another reason is because a pilot exceeds gimbal, not horizontally but a combination of vertical and horizontally which gives a false impression of being within gimbals. This is down to inexperience in how to crank and dive efficiently. Add to that the Mirage has a high prf that performs in the chase just as well as its low and med prf does, FC doesn't get this you have to go med prf if you're chasing a bandit which is how prf should work.
  15. Only by adjusting lua files then everybody would have to do it for ic. Basically no go.
  16. Thanks Mike, yes warehouse file, just saying I found it more intuitive to force the warehouse update through the ME.
  17. The datalink in mp is very simple, it uses either AWACS or an EWR unit. Two EWR units exist in DCS where one of them is used in BlueFlag at every airbase to determine whether AI flights get triggered or not (EWR alive or dead). Unlike single player in mp this datalink is not fighter to fighter and ED don't have plans to fix that for mp. From a coverage point of view obviously AWACS gives far better coverage than EWR does from the ground. As far as I remember when checking the EWRs in BF they have had broadcasting turned off.
  18. Flankers are always getting the rough deal. Full payload - facing AIM-120C 80s payload - always being downgraded to 27R<AIM7<530D ED - only fighter jet that breaks wings and stabilisers BF - only aircraft to have systems disabled Someone please make Flankers great again. :)
  19. That is impossible to know right now, nobody knows how effective dl is in blue flag, it's not an all seeing eye and is certainly not a BVR winning tool. The expanse and variation of the map will have so many blind areas leading dl users into a false sense of security.
  20. Well 2 or 3 apparently, i've heard this request many times on BF. If aborted man knew anything of the history of Flanker DL he'd know all about the bugs it has suffered with hundreds of false contacts littering the screen making it pointless and a hindrance, hence why servers switched it off. Well, now it works again thanks to ED so lets bring it back.
  21. The ball was rolling until the 'look how pro I am killing arcade eze mode FC3 aircraft' Mirage pilots started throwing their uninformed oar in. :D
  22. In the same light you downplay the discussion because it doesnt suit your ideals. No one has asked for a change in missile dynamics or rule set, general consensus is to allow the Flanker to receive datalink from EWRs like it should be getting but is currently mission blocked by settings. How is that unreasonable?
  23. My impression is that these systems, radar/eos, are not fully integrated. Surely this eos is limited and just slaves the ET seeker to the heat source rather than guiding missiles to a heat source. Or am I misunderstanding you?
  24. You're lost on the topic, red fly Mirages too, the problem is not red guys complaining they can't win, the problem is Mirage is the aircraft of choice everything else is an underdog hence a server full of Mirages. While there is no problem with this, the harmless suggestion that seems to upset you so much is to tweak the balance a bit to bring variation to the fighters in play. But just keep ignoring the harmless request and carry on mocking players like that is the reason everyone is flying Mirages.
  25. This request was put forward but people (like yourself now) chose to disrespect the pilots flying Flankers by claiming it's all their own fault. Belittling is what causes the angst and that is what you're doing right now, maybe you should make a separate thread with your request and show us the way.
