  1. You just have to ignore it, people need an excuse as to why they get shotdown, blaming fc3 is an easy scape goat to make oneself feel superior. I think guns only is a great idea but that is risking pushing some players away and not just fighters but ground pounders and MiG21 pilots also. Maybe start with just short range heaters only and see how that goes.
  2. Not picking up a target on scope that you are chasing which has the same speed is inherent with all DCS radars, FC3, Mirage etc. It's not a bug but a feature.
  3. It's not the hot shots which are the problem but rather the hot heads. Preventing cheating is only part of restrictions, the accusations far outway anything else. When people get shotdown in this sim it can sometimes be quite hard to immediately determine why. With knowledge of the ability to cheat comes accusations rather than trying to understand why. I've seen it before now and I think you have too that people accuse others of joining the other side to see where a chopper is then switch sides back and go on and shoot that chopper down, now the accusation could be true but having the option to see all friendly units turned off removes the accuasation all together, likewise exporting info from the sim gives no excuse for hot heads to randomly accuse and create arguments. Random accusations in a complex sim is the sort of sh.storm server admins don't need. You may say that allowing tacview allows people to see why they got shotdown but unfortunately that is not the first port of call for many. It's an admin decision to keep control of a friendly environment in what is a very busy server accomodating all types of players and attitudes to boot.
  4. More people will buy them obviously. When I had a crappy stick and no trackir I didn't cry foul play I just practiced harder and took the loses and wins as they came, shame people are always looking for an excuse not to be having fun by persisting with a win or bust attitude.
  5. Yes its called padlock amd arcade mode. :devil_2:
  6. There was no dedicated button to simulate this extra pull previously so the brake was used. In the last few updates ED have now implemented a seperate control line that you need to add a button to, in other words the brake no longer controls this as it has its own dedicated switch. I don't remember exactly but I think it is called stick limiter override.
  7. Mirage has insane roll rate, it is pretty easy to barrel roll headon ER shots.
  8. Yes everyone has an opinion on what the rules should be. If you can't respect the format please don't participate, you're derogatory tone is more suited for Call of Duty. Take note how other participants conduct themselves by thanking everyone for making the enormous effort to put on a good show instead of the poor attitude you've brought to this event. Format will always be different so for now enjoy this one. Thanks to streams and tacviews we will be able to evaluate the performance of squads and airframes to help us better understand the pros and cons of different formats in such a scenario, this will allow us to continue to improve the event and make it enjoyable for all. This could easily be discussed in a civil manner, we don't need toxic attitudes trying to tell us how to run an event with their infinite wisdom of such things.
  9. Maybe we'll see some Chinese Flankers now instead of Chinese Eagles. But seriously, uncalled for sarcasm from a moderator, is that necessary.
  10. I'm guessing the guide you read was describing how to fight in multiplayer as a lone wolf. Most servers in mp are more about getting kills rather than controlling airspace. The best BVR is done the same no matter what aircraft you fly - high and fast. This way you maximise missile range and situational awareness. Flying around in the valleys will give you a great insight into how effective a Flanker can be but it won't help you understand the BVR fight or how to get the most out of the Flanker. If you want to BVR in a Flanker online then forget about the kills and concentrate on staying alive and holding ground, practice scanning patterns, long range engagement profiles and learning the cues when your opponents are overrunning you. Understand about F15 TWS shots, when to recognise what your opponent is doing, when you're being outperformed and always prioritise your virtual life.
  11. There is no right or wrong set up. Believe me the setup had plenty of long and sometimes heated discussion amongst the organisers as to what it should be with no conclusive decision on what was the best choice. The idea behind SATAC is to create a competition for all squadrons to help develop themselves tactically, limiting to F15 only is how we felt SATAC was going and while this is a competition we want to encourage all squadrons new and old. The pros and cons of each aircraft and each set up can be argued forever, the fact is we wanted to have a balanced scenario that would not only encourage more Flanker/Fulcrum pilots but also allow the popular Mirage some prowess in rounds. Previous SATACs have been dominated by F-15 aircraft and this discourages other squadrons from participating or choosing anything other than F-15, this is part of the decisions behind the setup. That being said it was pretty clear the best squadron won the last event so we hope to run full payload SATACs in the future. This setup has been put up from the outset, if someone didn't like the look of it or were worried the challenge was too great for them to take gracefully then surely entering was the wrong decision. After entering you can't then go on and complain about it, just knuckle down and get on with it. Future events will have different setups. As for long matches this was forseen as a possible problem and a tie breaker round is needed, hopefully a good decision can be made on that. I think the current setup has proven as much a challenge for F15 pilots as well as Flanker pilots, proven by the 2 face offs from 104th v ITGC and China vs NP, both F15 v Flanker matches and both having F15 squadrons as victors, one a straight 2-0 victory and the other a real stalemate until the tie breaker. With the previous setups I think these would have been two resounding F15 victories so i'm glad that other aircraft can now compete and knowing ITGC thanks to the double elimination format they will look to bounce back.
  12. The Su25T still has AFM, the flight model is of the same standard as AFM+. The fuel and hydraulic modeling adds next to no difference. Just to add, having a less detailed FM does not give you an advantage unless the FM is created for arcade. The FM's designed within this sim have all been given realistic limitations, even SFM, that don't allow for advantageous maneuvers. What the AI can do though is a different matter.
  13. Su25T has AFM but there is no advantage really to be had as you say. To quote the difference. A further evolution of the AFM is what we term the AFM+ and this uses the same calculations as AFM but adds limited modeling of the hydraulic and fuel systems
  14. I agree with this totally but OC is not a server i'd consider for players at the leading edge of combat capability. People just want to have fun in their helos, strikers, F5s and MiG21s etc. Having Eagles, Flankers and M2Ks buzzing around on a realistic proportion makes fun for the challenge aspect and a realistic threat but a lot of casual players don't want that, even though (contrary to what people are trying to make here) it does then force the requirement for much more organisation within the team hence less airquake. Unfortunately mp is a case of which type of airquake (fighter deathmatch or ground pound turkey shoot) the players want and the server tailors to rather than having a realistic set up, getting players to work together on a large scale is so hard to achieve as proved by the amount of dedication poured into making the blue flag server successful. To force teamwork and reduce lone fighter spam there needs to be several fronts with lots of SAMs and shorad dotted around the area, fighters can't press without getting shot down and require strikers to work who in turn need fighters to hold the line. Add to this small pockets of resistance within the safety net for weaker strikers/players to attack. This requires more ability, patience and co-operation than is required from a random loner who just wants to shoot stuff or deliver potatoes which is really all that most want to do or have become accustomed to doing.
  15. Welcome. Manual, first post in this thread, look for SOP, standard operating procedure.
  16. Rb74 probably shouldn't be available for Viggen, introduced on JA37 in 1987.
  17. Sorry but just entering the server before any deaths, with FC aircraft being restricted to empty fuel tanks like suggested, FC pilots would have to sit patiently doing nothing for 7 mins while Mirage pilots jump straight in and be airbourne in 2 mins. Like I said if you missed it, if empty fuel tanks is to be used to reduce airquake then it should be across the board.
  18. So Mirages taking off in under 2 mins without aligning would never happen, right? A-10Cs can be airbourne in well under 5 mins, aligning can be done in the air. I think the problem is that starting up is part of the experience of owning full fidelity, it is part of the reason people enjoy it so much. Making FC pilots sit staring at the screen doing nothing for 7 mins may benefit your mind but to what end does it help in reality other than to induce excessive boredom. I think for the most part it is currently fine as is with the exception of the F15 being able to take tanks which then gets transferred to the main tank during flight allowing you to drop them having not refuelled at all and the Mirage able to get airbourne in under 2 mins. There are no aircraft FC or full fidelity that cannot be used in an airquake fashion, it is all down to the individual. If you want to try and kerb this with empty fuel tanks then it needs to be across the board.
  19. Yes refuelling, rearming and starting up can all be done at the sametime in the M2k but refuel takes longer than start up.
  20. This is a big concern. With the strikers and fighters having a nice selection of A2G weapons it's a shame not to prioritise teams using them. Recon is far more effective than ground attackers which makes it more focused on being a fighter v fighter scenario. It takes a lot of striker time and ability to close an airfield compared to recon aircraft. Maybe toning down bomber effectiveness might help. With the more modern BF the recon and bomber aircraft had a tougher time getting to target.
  21. If your expected target range is set default of 10 (bottom of hud) then yes. But I suspect the target you're looking at is much further than 10km away therefore no elevation would be required. Remember your radar cone covers more altitude the further from your aircraft. The approx. centre of your cone elevates in relation to your expected target range. eg. +1 at 10km tgt range = cone +1000m@10km (a big elevation change) +1 using 50km tgt range = +1000m@50km (a smaller elevation)
  22. Easy tiger, round 9 hasn't started yet, still testing. ;)
  23. Sounds like an incorrect use of radar, scan zone of 17-30 sounds pretty low range where his designator is, this would mean if he was higher than the bandits say 35000ft with the designator reading 17-30 at about 10-20nm range his radar would probably be seeing well below 20000ft at 60nm. The fact you can see MiG29s above 60nm well before they see you should give you plenty of options to plan for your advantage all depending on the situation, enemy weapons, assets, etc. You can go in straight on or play a ghost and use AWACS to bounce them but seeing them first gives you the options they don't yet have, the more aircraft involved in a non scripted event the greater the need to see and act first.
  24. What the fact that with 4 aim9m, rwr and mws the A10C is the chief air superiority aircraft. No I don't think they did.:D
