Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
Frostie replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
You've got it in your head that is when this debate started but the R vs 530D validity debate has been going since Razbam released the missile. AIM-7 outranges R-27R, F-15s can fly high and co-ordinate to box off Flankers outrange them with AIM-7s or come into the merge and flare any IR to death. There is no bad position here you come in on a defensive Flanker and make him eat the M61 spray and pray cannon. Other than guns only this is as even as it gets in FC, there is no overriding debate to be had, results speak for themselves in this setup these two run each other very close in encounters. Basically due to the closer range and speeds of the missiles whoever shoots first optimally usually has the advantage but ED does its best to not make this true. -

Something i'd like to see in the future to give the Viggen an important role is capturable shipping lanes connected to ports. If resources were included these lanes could allow a small supply of weapons previously unavailable 120B, 77, 27ER, Kh58, Mav-H given every few hours, it would add a bit more variation, purpose and dynamic to the campaign as well as an element of planning for big pushes or strong defences. -

Everybody did accept the change from full payload to R v 7s but then they added the Mirage after 'requests', suddenly being outranged by AIM-7 was childs play compared to the 530D so most switched to Mirage. I don't know how to make it plain and simple to you 1v1, 2v2 R vs 530D, equal pilots the Mirage should win everytime. No amount of tactic changing is going to solve that, you can beat tactics with counter tactics but by using equal ability and tactics you can't beat a more powerful weapon with a less powerful one. To be able to gain the upper hand tactically over a more powerful opponent you need better SA than them, I wonder how that could be achieved by the Flanker over an aircraft with a better RWR and the weapon to allow it to fly high and gain good SA, surely there is something it has in its locker to achieve this. Plus please i'd love to hear what you think these guys are doing wrong. -

You need to chill out before you have an aneurysm or something, its just a game, for the most part people ask for changes for the benefit of their own personal experience or what they think would make it more enjoyable by all. No one is asking for change to win. I think maybe one guy asked for R77 on MiG and possibly two asked for ER on Flankers. This doesn't equate to you people. When I make a response to you about datalink then please respond accordingly instead of bringing irrelevant requests by others into the discussion. I know its hard to get your point across without making a strawman out of it but it will save your ticker in the long run. -

Why downgrade Mirage when you can simply give the Flanker what it should have. Removing the 530D is just the same as all the other requests why are you trying to make that sound a different and valid request. If I wanted to just rack up kills i'd be asking for ETS, ERs and 77s don't you think. Seems to me you have no understanding of how pvp works and are getting too hung up on stuff that has very little effect on the overall outcome of BF. -

Anymore weak excuses, maybe the weather or the fact it's set in the Caucasus or people keep switching sides, perhaps its the fact that red don't get hung up on 'the must use SR' mantra that they do so well. The datalink is to make the Flanker an option because it ain't much of one without it, Red win without it. Nobody complained about not being able to win without, if you failed to follow the conversation it was about making the Flanker an option not a game changer. Search on youtube for DCS Blueflag and you'll see a majority of the videos are Mirages shooting down Flankers, and that is a lot of Mirage pilots that hardly know what they're actually doing. Nobody wants to be easy meat for Mirages and combined with its popularity everybody starts flying Mirage. This is stale. Those feature changes are for interest, the A10C doesn't make clearing bases any easier it is more of a fact that it gives pilots a choice to go red or blue. Like the Mirage it is the only clickable module in its class so a popular choice to fly and one of tge best modules in DCS, why not let more have the option to do so. Personally i'd rather see it Blue only. Give us 100% fuel is buffing, now you're making stuff up, this is asking for parity with fighter turnaround be it full fuel or no fuel make it across the board. The only one complaining on these boards that they can't win because of x is you, according to you it wasn't happening for you before either so maybe you should practice what you preach, change your tactics and stop giving unwarranted reasons for your cohorts to cry off. -

Well lets go back to how it was originally wth full payload. I'd be happy with that. I don't understand why you have a problem with the Flanker having something towards its genuine capabilities. Blue flag has always been a feature/module request. But now because Abortedman has been playing BF for 5 mins and he likes the set up no one is allowed to request anything without his judgement. -

R77 gives the shooter a way out 2 v 2 this will be so hard to counter. With R77 MiG could even fight 1v2 with ease. A bit of elaboration on that. The PVO received the first 20 in '85, in '86 distribution was accelerated, they stopped making Su27S in '89 only producing Su27P. In 1990 the Soviet Union declared the Su27 the standard fighter for both PVO and VVS, that same year the CFE treaty report issued reported 367 Flankers in Europe, 138 VVS and 229 PVO. -

R77 doesn't fit. Four 77 and two 73 would make the MiG far and away superior to anything. Yes the 29 is in a bad place having a small payload with the weakest SARH missile poor mans eos and no dl, other than giving it ER I don't know what could be done, perhaps just ET. -

If refuelling is here to stay this is a must. The Mirage can refuel, start up and align all at the sametime, it will still be airbourne in under 5 mins or longer to fully align. -

Not this again. The Mirage is the only direct competitor to the FC fighters. A high percentage of Mirage pilots don't bother aligning because in an A2A role directed by GCI there is little to no need, they are airbourne within 2 mins of getting in the cockpit. Why fix punish FC pilots to simulate aligning systems they can't even plot with, its not like it was the reason the refuel was added anyway. -

It has been that way for a while, when going gets tough the Blue get gone. :) Not enough camaraderie. -
Elitism is a strange choice of words. Rules are there to benefit everyones enjoyment and tend revolve around no team killing, no taxiway takeoff, no trolling etc. I don't know how you come to the elitism tag. Perhaps you mean difficulty settings which obviously is there for a reason, just highlighting a server will show what difficulty options are set.

Kill doesn't always mean murder Kill can mean murder, destroy, stop, overexert, end, delete, overwhelm and more. To turn the switch off - kill the switch To make someone laugh - you're killing me To make an off topic post in a thread - kill the thread

I wish they'd introduced Mirage with only magics, then I could troll simple requests for 530D with change your tactics and get gud bro! :D -

To remove units showing up on the Ka50 Abris the mission maker needs to set units as 'hidden', afaik doing this renders them invisible to GCI too. -
I believe its just a copy and paste from the frogfoot training videos where a 3 min gyro align is necessary. For comparison the A-10C requires 4-5 minutes to ground align its INS.
-
You're spot on and we've discussed this many times, I have just an old habit of switching to ILV past 40km. Past 25km MPRF will be better than ILV for beaming and cold contacts because ILV uses a reduced strength MPRF.
-
It's not that is more likely, it will reacquire a lock when the contact comes out of the notch, cold, provided the contact is within the PRF acquisition range and EOS has maintained track. Obviously MPRF has the best range against cold contacts while HPRF the worst. As you found out HPRF does work but clearly this is not the optimal choice. But that is not just the only benefit of switching during lock. To maintain track in the notch the target must be giving off enough heat for the EOS to keep track. If not the track will be lost and you go back to search mode. By switching PRF during the lock it will also give you the benefit of being at Med or ILV when back to search mode happens.
-
At 1.35 and 2.00 in this video you can see what I think is a similar thing happening where it takes time during lock for HPRF to be achieved. But HPRF does show during lock.
-
It doesn't happen for me. :( Set at HI at 20nm then bring back to 10nm it stays at HI.
-
The PRF should be shown, the F-15 manual 34-1-1-1 states that when a contact is locked up in HPRF the set immediately transfers to MPRF track, when Rmax is achieved it switches to HPRF unless the contact is low, beaming etc. where it will remain in MPRF track. It then advises the pilot to change heading to achieve HPRF track before launching the weapon. Added interest it also states that at 10nm radar search range the radar automatically goes into MPRF.
-
I put this up for a night and day example. I usually go straight to ILV after 40km and like you say select Medium when he is going cold.
-
Don't worry tracks are used with AI for repeatability.
