One quick way to restore all views to default is to go to your Saved Games config folders and delete the VIEW folder.

Voice commands software - which one ?
Blooze replied to tob.s's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I use VoiceAttack and am very happy with it. It's cheaper than dirt (free trial to get started) and very easy to program. There's one thing I have learned and that is the many hours that people spend training voice recognition in Windows really isn't necessary with VoiceAttack. Here's why, if I say "better" in VoiceAttack and it thinks i said "butter" or "bitter" or "mother" or whatever, the only thing that matters is that whenever I say it, it activates the proper keystrokes. If someone saw my profile it would probably look like language from another planet, but who cares if it works. I am hooked on VoiceAttack and highly recommend it. Cheers -
This was a no brainer for me. Without Sithspawn this community would be nothing more than a cesspool of anarchy and chaos, festering with backbiting and blasphemy, resembling the atmosphere of Dante's Inferno.

Problems with radio transmission for some clients
Blooze replied to baltic_dragon's topic in Multiplayer
If you are using the mission prepare function could it be that if a client changed his loadout it has the same effect as using mission planner? I think the answer lies somewhere on pages 66,67 or 68 of the user guide and how these settings may have a different effect on how a mission behaves in single player versus multiplayer as well as how each individual's personal settings chosen on their gameplay page may have an effect on what they hear or don't hear in a mission. I don't see how port forwarding our anything else related to hosting hardware setups could possibly be contributing to this issue. -
Problems with radio transmission for some clients
Blooze replied to baltic_dragon's topic in Multiplayer
If in the creation of the mission the in mission comms are utilizing the allied flight reports component of the ME then it's possible that both host and clients may have to have allied flight reports checked ON in their individual DCS options settings so everyone involved will be in sync with how the mission was created. Just a theory of course. -
There are many issues that can be resolved by going to your Saved Games/DCS folder and re-naming it to DCS1. This will allow DCS to create a new Saved Games folder and eliminate the possibility that your problem resides in the Saved Games folder. Try that first. It's also wise to do a DCS Repair from the Start menu to be sure that all of your files are correct. Often times with connection issues you may get a quicker solution by going to the USER SUPPORT section on the main DCS page and submitting a ticket to ED.

I ran a MP mission today with this script and IMO it really enhanced what I perceived to be a more realistic enemy behavior regarding manpads and zu23s. I used a 2 to 4 minute suppression time thinking that 15 seconds is a bit too short. It's great that it's so easy to tweak it until it seems accurate. I will add this to all of my missions in the future. Thanks for making it.

Of course that depends on the mission and the number of pilots involved but I suppose that 2 hours would probably be average.

IMO learning an aircraft's systems and procedures without being involved with a coop multiplayer group to practice with is not only ignoring a vital aspect of one's training but also leaving out the most rewarding benefit of this sim.

OK thanks, I'll try that.

I would like to see if this script is still viable with the latest build Could someone please walk me through the exact steps needed to install it a mission, ie type, conditions and actions? Thanks

I am one of many others that have concluded that the default head position is not accurate and in an effort to make the same corrections that you have made, ended up with the same result, with no available way to modify the HUD size. It is apparent that ED considers the default view to be accurate and as long as that is the case we will just have to accept it as is. I only wish I had a chance to consult a real A10 pilot to get clarity on this issue and until then I must admit that my opinion remains pure speculation based solely on photos of pilots sitting in the pit. I used to think it was a big issue but I don't give it much thought any more.:noexpression:

When I try to open DCS I get an update error message ERROR: JSON error: parse error: premature EOF Tried repair but the same error message appears preventing me from using the repair. Auto update log attached. Update: Problem solved, please remove this post. autoupdate_log.txt

Try going to your Saved Games/DCS folder and deleting the VIEW folder. That will return all views to default. If that works you may have to re-do any saved snap views if you have them.

"I would love to get involved in a squadron, but I don't want to be "that" player who through their lack of knowledge and experience slows down the whole process and spoils the fun for others playing." This is the imaginary fear that keeps many from enjoying the best part of this sim.....coop mutiplayer activity with a group. Just jump in with both feet. After all......what's the worst that could happen?

Would it be safe to assume that the reel would be locked in a combat situation?

Although at first I assumed that the 6DOF feature of Track IR represented realism in the cockpit I have come to think otherwise with time. As I imagine a real pilot strapped into the seat I really doubt that he would have that much room to move and I always had the feeling that I was flying drunk. I have opted to turn off everything except yaw and pitch. I think if you try the same settings you will find the HUD to be much more stable as a result. Even when I enable the roll axis which I do consider realistic, it can make it difficult to maintain a good view of the HUD in the heat of battle. Just sayin' :joystick:

As I read it a created mission would be considered "new program materials" not the program itself. I'm calling my lawyer. :book:

If you look HERE and read the PROGRAM UTILITIES section it should clarify things. It looks like a green light to me with very few requirements. Thanks for raising the question. I think that others will benefit from this thread as well. I know I learned something that I consider valuable as I continue engaging in this addiction.

You asked for comments so here goes. I am convinced that what the multiplayer segment of this community needs most to maintain enthusiasm for this sim are new missions to fly. Considering how few new missions have been made available for public use I think that anyone that takes the time to create something new and shares it with the community is doing the community a service. As far as using an ED mission as a base for your mission is concerned, I would be disappointed in anyone's objection to that. I'll be looking forward to trying it out.
