  1. Sorry I don't mean to say it so bluntly. But I have to.... you are wrong. As are quite a few people on this thread that don't understand how the change in the FoV of focal lens actually changes the image seen through a camera or a telescope. The standart Cockpit view and standart extenal view are not at the same FoV, and that is why they are viewed at diferent sizes. Distance to the object makes little to no diference. If you move your head closer to something that is quite close to you a meter or so away, even 10cm closer, thats a 10% cut from the total distance. But sitting on the cockpit or 10-20 metters behind the plane, makes little diference diference, to an object 6-7 miles away. What does make a diference is FoV. And FoV affects the aparent size of objects diferently at diferent distances. This became is very aparent in some pictures taken with narrow angle tele-objective, where there is background in the photo that is much farther away than the subject of the photo. If you know the real place location, this will be very aparent to you, as the background will appear much bigger in the photograph than it should be visible from that location. But the reason this happens is because it's all contained in the very narrow field of view of the camera. Now a fun little experience for those of you who are still doubtefull to try. Do like the OP did in his second post in this thread did. And take a plane to that island. But fly closer this time. Until as you fly close enough for the edges of the island on each side are just about touching the sides of your screen. Then pause, and switch to your outside view, you will see, that even beeing now on the viewpoint of several meters behind your plane, you can actually see much less of the island. Even worst try to distance yourself from the plane even further by using "/" on your keypad, you will see your plane shriking rapidly, and the island remaining preaty much the same. Yes it is all because of FoV, and yes I did answer the OP question. Belive it, don't belive it, it's all the same to me.
  2. And again the Ministick does work with other planes, well... as well as it works for the A-10 anyway... But like Yurgon said you have to assign the axis and tune them. And yes when the hornet first came out it had no axis function for the TDC (can't say for the harrier as I only recently got it) but it's been added quite a few patches (months) ago.
  3. FoV - Field of view. You can get the bomber to display at the same size by using the * key on your keypad. But using it on your external view changes the distance of the camera to your plane. It does not control zoom. I can't remember the actual controls for zoom for the external views, I don't think I ever used them.
  4. I have an issue since I started using Vaicom, at first I wasn't sure if it was voice attack, because I hadn't used it in a while, but after some testing to the best of my ability to check it, it seems to only occur when Vaicom profile is loaded on voiceAttack, other profiles don't seem to cause it. The issue is that random keypresses seem to activate from time to time, this is most obvious when trying to type. But I've also noticed in DCS mostly with random view changes. My Vaicom profile has a couple of added commands that are voice activated , and don't require me to push any TX button, just thing like "Hide/Show Pilot body" but no commands are beeing listed in Voice Attack when this happens. Has anyone else noticed this?
  5. It's not so much the way cockpits are modeled but the way the engine "projects" images onto a flat screen. But around the center things will feel much more natural and at the right size. Sim Racers are usualy very keen on having this right as it really can help "depth" and speed perception of the enviroment. It's pherhaps more important there than for flight Sims. Still my personal preference would be to go for the 1:1. But each has to find what works best for him.
  6. When I export the F-18s AMPCD + MFDs over my main viewport I get them transparent like on Szeventon's post on the start of this tread. Is there any way to fix this? All other modules export with a black background.
  7. Cap'n Penguin I think it will be easier to try and help if you post your Monitor Config Lua.
  8. Bones I think what you need to change is in the IFEI_init.lua and add to line to get it to export again. And maybe put the file in your DCS savegames directory so it doesn't get overwriten next time there's an update. Try this (By Capt Zen by the way) : dofile(LockOn_Options.common_script_path.."ViewportHandling.lua") try_find_assigned_viewport("F18_IFEI") I think you can put it almost anywhere in that file, so try at the end of the file.
  9. Actually you are aproaching this the wrong way. First you get the screen, biggest you can get if you ask my opinion. Then you get it as close to you as its pratical and confortable. Then you figure out the right FOv, there are online calculators to help with this. Then you adjust the FOV (Zoom) to the exact value you got, but because you can't know this in game, you will need to use a lua edit. Then you will get the 1:1 representation (but only after pressing numpad 5 I think, can't remember for sure now...)
  10. Hello Debolestis, I tought to have sent you a PVT message a couple days ago, but I've now checked my messages and think that for some reason the message was not sent at all. So I'm putting my question here this time: On your shapeway store you provide the Shaft for the 5 way hat switch. I am interested in doing some heavy moding to some old sticks, any chance that you can make the 2 part cassing for this switch avaiable as well? I will have some other requests as well, but I need to do some more planing be-fore I am sure of the exact nature of the parts I will need.
  11. Aparently this happens after a DCS update like we just had yesterday. You can solve it by going to your VAICOM configuration (Ctrl, Alt, C), then to the Reset TAB, and reset only the LUA Code. It should fix it.
  12. Reinforcing the request for an Absolute axis option for this.
  13. OK thanks! :)
  14. Ok so it has nothing to do with Button assignments, but rather what radio is beeing called for that slot. Right?
  15. OK Thanks for the reply Hollywood. Still I would like to understand how to actually use that function.
  16. And can someone explain how the new feature that works with SRS works? I already had my TX assignements to be the same as my SRS PTTs. Should I delete my TX assignemets in the VoiceAttack profile now?
  17. Hey Hollywood, I've encountered an Issue using Vaicom with the AV-8B can you please take a look at the last few posts in this thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3767705#post3767705
  18. I think people are just on edge about it, after so much as been atempted to be shoved down people's throats. At one point I think you just enter fight back mode without stoping to consider if the request is reasonable or not.
  19. I can't imagine someone hating the political correctness craze more than I do. But I can absolutely understand why someone would like to have this. Hell! you could put your own picture in the pilot back in IL-2 Sturmovik! :D
  20. Can anyone point me if I can make the background of the exported MDIs black and opaque?
  21. Thanks Kippy, I was somewhat aware of this abilty. But it's good to know how to actually do it. Still I asked because it would be able to have this ability inside the editor, like all the other birds (it apears).
  22. No deadzones or curves for m.ost birds. But I found that a small curve ( 8 ) on both axis, for the AV-8B actually makes me control the bird better with a feeling that's still mostly linear. For the Hog, just what everyone said about the the slew control.
  23. Are there plans to Add The ability to be able to preset radio frequencies on the Mission Editor? It seems all my installed birds have it now (I don't have all my modules installed ATM) even the Blacksharl, except the A-10. No love for the Hog?
