I simulate this failure pretty much every time I fly the Huey :D .... :(

MI - 26 lifts MI - 8 out of a swamp

Choppersaurus. The Russians like 'em big don't they? Do want. -
I don't recall them saying explicitly that it is not the Phantom, but Cobra had this to say about the F-4 which suggests the Phantom is not the next project:

LOL I loved that one as well. WWII we had soldiers bringing back Lugers, these days you can't even bring home a fountain pen you found on the ground. It isn't like you were walking away with Babylonian pottery, shame they didn't let you keep the gauge.

I know, I expect a Sobek hammer if we keep up, lol. True on flying and mastering a WWII plane isn't simple, but I don't think it'll get to the point we have that many, at least not anytime soon. So far it seems they all want to hit on the very popular ones rather than way out there versions that only a handful might want. However, with this crowd I have a feeling a lot of people will buy all 20 even without the time to master all of them (I'd probably be one of them). I know, I think every dev keeps avoiding the F-16 simply because "Falcon 4.0 already did that", but I really want to see the Falcon/Viper in DCS.

RRG is the only one doing WWII 100%. VEAO has stated they have two teams, one working on modern aircraft and the other doing WWII (thus releasing WWII birds does nothing to slow down the modern planes they produce, only the complexity of developing the modern birds). There is no confirmation by LN that they are currently producing WWII planes after the 21, we are merely speculating right now. Like Sith, even though I'm a WWII buff I still agree somewhat with your sentiment and I don't want to see an over saturation of WWII planes. But keep in mind that the WWII birds are quicker to produce, thus giving more funds towards the modern jets which take longer. As much time as it takes for a company to produce a modern jet, I seriously doubt any 3rd party can remain afloat without getting funds in other ways (IE easier to produce aircraft to fund the longer term projects). So the question becomes this - do you want one or two modern jets and then the company to close shop and produce nothing else because they couldn't remain profitable, or would you rather said company be able to continue producing modern jets but also spitting out some older aircraft as well?

In honor of Novak's moustache :D

My understand is that ED has commented that they are working on 3D cockpits for the 29, but no screenshots have been posted so they are likely in the very early stages of building the cockpits. Only 29 screenshots I've seen so far were the WIP external model. Edit: SD beat me to it. I was too lazy to go look up the specific post, so bravo lol.

A rare depiction of Yo-Yo at work in DCS
-
Thanks for the update YoYo looks like it'll be incoming reasonably soon. That's doubtful unfortunately, the developers these days are very reluctant to give ETAs, which is understandable since they get taken behind the woodshed constantly by some people if they ever miss that ETA.

I've definitely heard it is a new experience. I did play with my curves some time back and it has improved my flying in the Pony (and choppers) compared to my pre-curve time period, but I think the stick extension would be a good thing to add. Definitely planning on picking one up, and hopefully my chopper flying will improve along with the Pony flying.

stang guns fire at mission start?
Grim_Smiles replied to 9.JG27 DavidRed's topic in Bugs and Problems
Azref's test mirrors my test just now. An airstart will do a brief silent gun flash when starting the simulation - even when flying an unarmed Mustang. No ammo expended, no shots fired and no smoke. Does not happen on a runway, parking or ramp start. Definitely graphical bug. -
stang guns fire at mission start?
Grim_Smiles replied to 9.JG27 DavidRed's topic in Bugs and Problems
I'll fire her up when I get home and see if I spot it on mine. Does it actually fire rounds and expend ammunition, or is it purely a graphical bug? -
I've been using the stock stick. I have thought about using an extension, but initially saw some that required messing with the wiring and wussed out at the thought of tampering with a $400 stick. I have seen that Simpit has a stick extension that just screws on without tampering with the stick itself, I'm thinking of either picking it up or seeing if there are any others out there that can just screw on.

Thanks for the advice guys, will definitely alter my gunnery practice! First time I've heard of the shadow practice Tucano, sounds like a good idea. David, thanks for the invite I'll definitely have to stop by.

That's what I thought as well, a flaming rocket spinning in the air before crashing to the ground is very familiar. At least that's how it looks whenever I play KSP.

I can fly fine in a Mustang but lack practice in the shooting department. When I finally started gunnery practice after learning to fly the plane, I wanted to try opponents that I didn't have to chase down so that I can just focus on hitting a somewhat maneuvering target. I usually setup a four ship of helicopters in a group and practiced diving in on them. I'm just wondering if this is the best way to practice my gunnery, or is there a more effective way I could be going about this (targets, mission setups, etc.)? Been on a couple month hiatus on any serious DCS play thanks to a move and now that I'm getting set back up (and after I order another Track Clip:cry:) I'd like to start getting to work in the Mustang (and later the Dora when it comes out) and improving myself for when DCS WWII comes out.

DCS: Spitfire Mk LF IXc Discussion
Grim_Smiles replied to Yo-Yo's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
It would be cool to have the animation in game of seeing the ground crew hopping on the wings and doing this. But probably wouldn't have been cool in WWII if this had been a normal startup lol. I can imagine a 190 pilot sitting in his cockpit watching the black dots of enemy aircraft get larger, and screaming "MACH SCHNELL!! MACH SCHNELL!!!" at higher and higher pitch while the ground crew keeps trying to start the plane like this. -
DCS: Spitfire Mk LF IXc Discussion
Grim_Smiles replied to Yo-Yo's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Did they really have to start the inline 190s like this (as I've seen the radial ones start up without any crew assistance) or could she just be missing some parts that required them to do this? If this is really how it was I can't imagine a more frustrating thing when you have enemy aircraft on the way, and ground crew keeps having to hop on your wings to do this routine. -
I imagine Beta is going to require a majority (if not all) of the planes flyable and the new terrain (which requires EDGE), so the release of EDGE and the other planes being close to flyable would probably be a good barometer of when we can expect Beta release. I'm putting my expectations on July/August for a Beta, but it all depends on ED and RRG. Being that they've had setbacks and holdups, I'm going with the assumption that a lot of things are going to be delayed a bit, including the final release of the product.

Can't say I'm surprised to hear that, with things changing internally I figured the roadmap initially set out with has changed. Well it isn't the MiG-23, so I'm starting to lean towards it being Su-17/22 :D I think it was their announcement post where they said they didn't want to try crowdfunding again for awhile until they got back trust (though could have been in the chit chat thread about the 21 instead). So I don't think we'll see a KS or IndieGoGo from Leatherneck anytime soon. Things could change though, obviously that is their call.

Hopefully they will simulate the engine issues (can't imagine they wouldn't simulate flame-out when not handling it right), as without it I can see multiplayer servers having tons of people hopping in 262's all the time. Making the jet as challenging as it would have been to fly in WWII would mean that those willing to learn the jet will be the ones hopping in her, while hopefully cutting down on the number of those just seeking what they think is a "pwnmobile".

Other than the removal of Bezcl's initial release on the internal issues, the website appears to have not been touched by the team. Consider the MiG-21 website and all information on it to be an old revision to be ignored and superseded by announcements on the forum, as the forum announcements are the only current and correct information we have on the MiG at the moment. Edit: Saying this more so for the benefit of others who have only seen the website and not the announcement thread, since this isn't the first time the website release announcement was cited. Might help cut down on questions to just put it out there that the website is essentially not in commission right now.
