Question - Fw 190 Progress Update?
Grim_Smiles replied to Krupi's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
From what I gather from the translators: -
I really don't expect them to make the deadline, and this isn't a bash on them. There were a lot of things out of their hands that they weren't able to foresee (EDGE still being in development). I wouldn't have my heart set on a fall release for DCS WWII.

Need Help with glide slope and final / landing
Grim_Smiles replied to woodsglen's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Thanks for the tips on the rudder trim as I believe I've been doing the full amount previously, and especially the throttle management. That may be what my problem is, I'm shoving the throttle all the way to the stops too quickly no matter the aircraft. I basically turn into this soon as I get on the runway: That's another issue as well for me, I don't compensate for where it'll go. Then once it does start going one way I tend to over compensate. I definitely need more practice as well. I can fly fine (haven't tried formation flying but can still fly and fight fine) and I can land just fine. But sometimes I just get squirrelly on the takeoffs. Trying to clean up my ground handling and takeoff before I try going on multiplayer. I figure I'd probably piss people off on the DoW server if they are constantly having to dodge my wreck just to use the runway: "Oh that douche-canoe TooTall flipped it again, go around everyone". -

Curse you Google Translate!!!:censored: -
Would be nice to see, but like others have said there are other priorities and things I'd like ED to do first (or have a 3rd party do it). That said, if we do model ground crew we NEED this guy added to it, he is critical to safe landings because "pilots are sometimes incompetent".

Good to know I'm not the only one that occasionally eats it on takeoff. No issues with landing, sometimes I've tipped forward on touchdown and grinded the prop because I was rushing to get on the ground, but it is rare that I do that. But on takeoff I tend to be twitchy on the rudder, so a 50/50 shot sometimes that I'll make it off the ground without having to get repaired (or respawn). Trying to work on being a bit steadier with the rudder, getting better at it. This isn't a P-51 only issue for me, I tend to wander when going down the runway with any aircraft, but the P-51 is the only one that I end up tipping over with. -
Envisioning the pilot of this naked 109, a German guy dressed all in black screaming "Touch my monkey!" Looks that way to me as well. Still, pretty cool look. Don't know if I'd fly with all silver, maybe like the P-51 schemes where it is mostly silver with colored accents.

Definitely, down the road from my parents house there was a guy who was a B-17 pilot. I never had the opportunity to talk with him, but another neighbor did and told me he had some really amazing stories.
-
Definitely amazing, thanks for sharing Whiplash! 99% chance he didn't make it unfortunately:cry:
-
Alright, which one of you broke Rudel?
-
So who else besides me is planning on trying this just to see if BST added it in?:D
-
Indeed, I get the feeling good news may be incoming :pilotfly:
-
Since the last update was discussing the 109 and alpha, the silence could be due to a push on RRG's part to get a playable alpha going that ED would feel comfortable with.

My parents live near an AFB flight path and I've always wondered what that noise was when watching the F-15s landing, never knew it was the nozzles.
-
Agreed. I missed a few of his streams as well, including where he was flying the MiG around. I was glad someone was recording it so I could see it later.
-
Bingo! Helped show that the project was still kicking and the added benefit of seeing a bit of what goes into making these modules. I'm hoping more devs follow suit.
-
LOL, well the pilot was dead so not much else to do :D
-
It isn't just you, they have been a flat blue for me as well and I'm pretty sure I have it maxed out, only get a ripple/wave effect on the surface but nothing like that screenshot you showed. I wish they did look like that.

His comment was in response to the person posting above him, GG doesn't always quote the person he's speaking with if his post is right below their post. He was definitely talking about IFF being perfect in DCS.
-
do the devs ever read these requests/suggestions - ??
Grim_Smiles replied to SDsc0rch's topic in DCS Wishlist
It's happened before with the Huey as I recall, where things players were asking for in the forum ended up getting put into the sim. Recently someone had asked if a certain failure could be added into the Huey sim as an option to simulate as a random failure, and a dev stated he was going to bring it up to his colleagues. -
While I love the Sabre far more than the Hawk, I'd have to say Hawk. Pitting a Korean war fighter against a modern aircraft (even a jet trainer) doesn't sound like a fair setup. Old equipment vs new equipment doesn't usually work out for the old.

This would be on ED's side, and I'm guessing they likely already did it. I can't imagine the RWR wouldn't show a symbol for the 21's radar. In real life I'm sure. But in DCS (again just guessing) I seriously doubt ECM is going to be any different against the 21 than any of the other aircraft we have. I've heard ECM is something they want to look at on improving down the road, but doesn't sound like a high priority to ED on top of everything else on their plate. There would be a lot of guess work I'd imagine. They would have to figure out just how much would the effectiveness be, what range would the MiG-21 have to be for ECM not to work anymore, or if it is capable of completely shutting down a Bis to the point that they might as well not turn on the radar because they will be close enough for a heater before they burn through. For now I think they likely would just have it work the same against the 21 as everything else. Would be interesting if a dev informed me I was incorrect in my guess and that ECM will do different things to the 21, we'll have to see.

Unfortunately I think joking answers are the only ones that can be given, I don't think we'll get any dev input on this (I would like to be wrong on that belief). Hopefully we can have all possible failures simulated, we will have to see. But I don't think anyone here is trying to insult you, they are just joking around.
