Those that backed didn't except things to go downhill when they backed it, they weren't expecting him to fail then. With the large gaps in communication, the length of time for some people to get promised rewards (some still not getting them) and a lot of excuses seeming to be made by RRG, that was when people started to get worried - hence why they weren't surprised to hear this announcement. I'm not sure what happened with Luthier, but I'm not assuming it was anything like him being sacked for mismanagement. I know he was going through some personal problems when the project started, so to hear he's no longer with the project came as no surprise to me.

Question - Fw 190 Progress Update?
Grim_Smiles replied to Krupi's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
LOL! Yeah that works to:D -
Shocked but not surprised. Well like others have said, project isn't cancelled and backers will be honored, so I'm okay with this. Also nice to see an estimated release outline (and I understand it's an estimation), I am glad that we won't have to wait until the entire thing is done before we see any of these planes. Also - I love those reflections in the gauges!

I just saw that announcement, doh:doh: Yeah, here's hoping ED replaces the pilot models. -
Question - Fw 190 Progress Update?

One thing I hope happens with DCS WWII coming out is that ED will modify the pilot figures for the WWII birds. The 190 pilot looks great except for the fact that he has no oxygen mask. It's the same with the WWII P-51 pilot model. Edit: Replacing RRG with ED -
There is also a 93 year old veteran named Jim Martin parachuting into Normandy tomorrow in the same type of gear he jumped in 70 years ago to commemorate the anniversary. Even in his 90s he still looks like he could eat Nazis for breakfast. http://imgur.com/gallery/fC9bYRq

Loved how WWII in HD presented that speech:

Question - Fw 190 Progress Update?
Grim_Smiles replied to Krupi's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Interesting, I've never seen a photo/video with rockets on her, so I was getting ready to say nothing other than a single bomb (that's the most I've seen them carry in photos). If she was able to carry those rockets in real life than I'm sure we'll have them on ED's Dora, even if it was a rarely done option. On another note, looks like August is the confirmed date. Not going to complain even if I'd have liked it to be closer, at least we now have a good ETA. -
Question - Fw 190 Progress Update?
Grim_Smiles replied to Krupi's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Here's hoping they pulled it because the release date was incorrect and it's coming sooner than expected when the video was originally made. I know, fat chance but a man's gotta have hope. -
At least once alpha hits I think it would be reasonable for him to start doing them, and I'm really hoping for you guys that I'm wrong in my earlier post and that Luthier honors that promise.

Man I'm glad you started posting! I'm looking at picking up their Ozone chair when more come in stock at their US dealer this summer. I can't justify the cost of the more expensive version either, so this is definitely helping to give me some ideas. Only concern I have with their chairs is that I'm on the very tall side and tend to have leg room issues with most things, but I've been told a lot of big guys are comfortable in their chairs, so fingers crossed that it'll be a comfortable fit for me.

Question - Fw 190 Progress Update?

If they are demonstrating her to the press, can't be that long now. -
That's what I understood as well, though Luthier did mention they were including parts for other variants to the model just to see which ends up being the easier to do, so there is always the chance that this could change. It probably won't change, but I guess we won't know until it gets finalized.
-
Thing is ED never promised us updates and thus doesn't need to give any unless they want to (as much as I'd like that to change). Part of the kickstarter was that Luthier would give updates and not keep people in the dark. I feel bad for the guys who contributed to the amount that gets them regular Skype meetings with Luthier, because that's just not going to happen. That said, this doesn't need to be a "sky is falling" issue and no one needs to be worried or suspicious about the project just because Luthier quit with updates. There is no reason to believe the project is in any kind of danger or that it is a scam (it isn't). Sure I'm annoyed at the silence, but I'm giving RRG the benefit of the doubt that they are just "nose to the grindstone" at the moment over something big and they will come at us later. When Luthier started talking about alpha with the 109, I was suspecting he'd go silent again while this was happening. We'll just have to see how long it takes before Luthier finally lets us in on what is going on.

Man looks like you guys had fun, sorry I missed it. So this flak script, I take it that with DavidRed getting shot down by it, it isn't just a cool effect but something that can actually destroy an aircraft?
-
What's wrong with seeing this happening every time you close the canopy?
-
Good to see you back EB, and thanks for the news on the Sabre! Looking forward to her, though my wallet is not enjoying the thought of all these new plane modules that will be coming out.
-
Sounds like rolling thunder when going down the strip, can't wait. :pilotfly:
-
Will definitely be picking this one up, day one purchase. Always thought she was a nice looking aircraft.
-
It looks like I'm not going to make it back in town in time for this:cry: Sorry guys. I do hope that doing these missions turns into a regular thing though, this one looks great and hopefully it'll come back up into mission rotation down the road.
-
LOL that answer you gave earlier was the best ever:thumbup: And definitely, you can't run so might as well fight. It's only pixelated blood after all.
-
Sounds like a fun mission, and I saw yours and David's post and it is good to hear you guys are a patient crowd! I'd like to try to make it for this but I can't confirm anything at the moment. If I am able to make it, I've no experience with formation flying so I might have to find a position where I can't do much damage if I can't stay in my slot. Maybe hanging with the recon birds as escort or doing a ground attack role on the convoy. Will have to see how this weekend goes for me.
-
Hate to say it, but yeah with ED having enough on its plate already and still no 190, I can only hope they at least put an AI opponent in that we can fight so we're not having to shoot at Sabres pretending to be MiGs.

Question - Fw 190 Progress Update?
Grim_Smiles replied to Krupi's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Not sure if you mean the one I posted or Sith's (probably both lol), but yeah its translations make me go cross-eyed. With the one I posted, I'm reasonably sure he was saying that he couldn't give a date on release but that there was nothing left to be done on the 190. Which I'm really hoping is the correct interpretation. Now if you meant Sith's translation I can't help you there, I felt my grip on sanity slipping away just trying to read it and I'm already a few fries shy of a happy meal as it is.
