  1. Nuke the site from orbit. So based on Luthier's last update sounding cheerier I guess the 109 is not crab walking in flight anymore. Considering she's far more along than any other aircraft and is being considered the flag ship, is it safe to assume she'll be the first alpha test bird?
  2. Same here, had me laughing. Been a number of times I thought I brought an aircraft back safely on a no-gear/damaged gear landing only to spontaneously combust after declaring victory.
  3. I fully agree, would rather it just be an empty space. That is far closer to being historically correct than a fabricated symbol, as I've seen real 109 paint schemes with no symbols painted on the tail (don't recall seeing empty space on K4's but I can ignore that discrepancy better than a fake symbol).
  4. I think you are correct Skate. My understanding is that the Mustangs with the extended canopies are like that because they have dual control setups and needed the seat pushed further back, while based on Wags' statement the free Mustang coming out has no dual controls and basically a jumper seat in behind the pilot. This is just a guess of course and we can't know for sure until it comes out (or Wags or someone at ED gives us a screenshot), but if I were a betting man I'd say the canopy stays the same like in your link.
  5. I have taken the liberty of providing a sound file of the A-90 engines while in flight for ED dev use:
  6. True. However, during the last open beta when I was looking at Wags' posts during that time it seemed to me at least half of them were along the lines of "Not a new bug" or "Please follow directions". Only ED can tell whether it was worth going through all of that noise to pick out the correctly reported problems. Maybe my impression is incorrect and it wasn't as bad or time consuming as I perceived it to be.
  7. Just wondering about this Huey additional armor. At first I envisioned something like the Hip plates and was wondering if these were an "up-armor" kit for the Hueys. But searching on internet didn't find anything other than armored seats. Is this what the additional armor is? Not a complaint as every little bit helps so long as it is on the real thing, just wondering what this additional armor could be.
  8. Very excited about what I see. 3D cockpits for Su-25T and Su-33 finally coming out and even the AFM for the Eagle. Granted I don't fly the F-15 much but I'll definitely be hopping in her to see the AFM. Internal cargo trigger sounds like there might be interesting things coming up. I am definitely curious in seeing what this additional armor option is for the Huey, if it is something to keep my pilot's chest from being ventilated as easily then I'm all for slapping it on. Only thing I am sad to not see that I keep hoping for relates to the Hip notes - I keep hoping we get gunner positions in her finally. The 190 missing isn't making me sad because I didn't really expect her to be released until after 1.2.8 is done and pushed out. She could always show up after the patch. But still great patch ED, looking forward to trying my hand at SEAD again with the Toad now that I have a nice 3D cockpit.
  9. I thought this was an interesting theory on what may have taken place, titled: "Alright, Goodnight" - Does Malaysia want to know what happened to flight MH-370? http://sofrep.com/34084/alright-goodnight-malaysia-want-know-happened-flight-mh-370/ He admits that this is just a theory like others. He basically links what happened to the political issues going on in Malaysia, that the pilots essentially hijacked the plane as a blackmail against the Malaysian government, and then crashed the plane when their demands were ignored. This was his disclaimer:
  10. What Blaze said (and Aginor). If I recall I did the same. I know I lurk a bit on gun forums before I join and participate to see if said forum is full of snobs and keyboard commandos. Usually it takes a convo I'm interested in joining to pull me into the forum. Alpha just tickled AF's interests and pulled him out of lurking.
  11. Indeed, frankly Luthier most of us are just happy that things are moving forward in communications and that you seem to be actively engaging the community. We appreciate the heads up to let us know the situation. Take the time you need to get it sorted, getting all backers access here is important.
  12. Comments on public shared photos from popular FB pages tend to make one question how so many people can even manage to dress themselves in the morning. You'd get a better prediction on it from a tarot card reader than FB commentators. Just saying. I'm pretty much on the fence about this. FB does have plenty of money to toss into this to increase development. However, FB also isn't the best company to be dealing with either (this coming from a guy on FB by the way). I found it hypocritical for Zucker to have written a complaint letter about the NSA when his company is just as much a part of the problem. But I also have to recognize that FB isn't the lone wolf out there either. Google, Microsoft, etc, name a company and they are doing the same things even if they claim otherwise. Somewhere our porn site interests and other such tidbits are in a company database. I'm hoping that this works out and that our concerns are for nothing. They just better not pull that ad crap like Lunatic was mentioning.
  13. Luthier, in those 109 screenshots is she steering straight now or is she still flying like Charlie Sheen is the pilot?
  14. Considering how many times I've gotten bit by unfortunate thread titles, I had the opposite reaction. I saw the title in the main forum list and immediately thought this: We really got to be more careful with thread titles, we have some older members on this board lol.
  15. Nice, things are coming together quite well! Thanks for the update Cobra!
  16. My mistake, adding in the beta part on the entry made me think it was a closed beta. I've always just considered the releases for modules as just a release rather than a beta, since there are always changes being made to DCS modules anyway.
  17. Thing is, this was what it says on the package I selected for backer reward: Again this is copied directly from the kickstarter entry. I don't have alpha access to DCS WWII as part of the package so they aren't talking about that, instead it sounds like I'm supposed to have a beta access for the 190 (as the P-51 description says nothing about beta access). So based on the description some of us should have been flying the 190 before ED releases it to the public. Now I'm not saying I have a problem with having to wait until ED releases the 190 to everyone as all I cared about was just getting a 190 as a reward. If I don't get her until release I'm perfectly fine with that, but it does sound like some backers should have had beta time with the 190 before it is released.
  18. No you're fine man:), I had no idea how to get it posted into the thread so I'm glad that you were able to do it.
  19. Mods: Go ahead and delete the one I posted. No need for a duplicate and since SD was able to quote the entire update rather than just a link (I'm not aware of how to do that), it is better to keep his. Glad at least the ED guys were calm about it and acted like this is normal for the 109 crabwalk.
  20. You are correct. It's dumping flares and someone photoshopped in the missiles using the flares as the exhaust trails.
  21. I doubt we'll get any kind of ETA on EDGE release, at least not until they are absolutely certain they are almost about to release it. They missed the first projected release so I think they will remain tight lipped about dates now. And I gotta agree with Outlaw, rather not get a date if it is one that has a high chance of not being met. Not having a release date is something I can accept, just so long as they don't keep silent about things. Edit: I see Sith beat me to my thought on why they aren't giving a date right now.:)
  22. You just painted the picture of exactly what I'd like to see CA become. Even if you don't have a player in each tank (or multiple people in each one), having a human players commanding a vehicle group on the map and shooting it out with others doing the same would be a great thing to see. Especially when flying a chopper, as you can sneak up on a player who isn't high in SA, but you aren't going to do the same thing to an AI group.
  23. DCS summed up in a single image:
  24. Pretty much wanted to be a fighter pilot since a little kid, but never ended up going that route. My callsign actually doesn't come from anyone like Ed Freeman (didn't even know of his callsign when I first started using it) but instead from what I was told by an Airforce recruiter. I must have had the only recruiter in military history who didn't want to make his quota, lol. "Sorry you're too tall to fly fighters, but with your ASVAB score we'll definitely send you to flight school and instead you can fly some of our roomier options like a cargo plane". Yeah gee thanks, let me think about that. Unfortunately my ambitions were pretty much a pipe dream anyway. I have some medical issues that would have almost certainly prevented military service. However, if I had thought at the time that there was a shot of being a fighter pilot, I'd have tried to go through it and if I washed out for medical reasons so be it. But with a recruiter telling a high school kid that even if he manages to overcome his other physical limitations, the one he can't do anything about will prevent him from being what he wants to be - well that didn't help the decision. Would you tell someone who wanted to be a SEAL "Naw, we'll probably make you a supply clerk instead"? Honesty is a virtue, but doesn't help get you recruits lol. So I ended up in the engineering field and working in the maritime industry, though at least most of my work has involved military ships, so I still get to contribute something even if it isn't military aviation. Might some day down the road start working in the aeronautical engineering field, especially since it was mentioned by the head of my engineering department that if I added an aeronautical degree they might see about looking into work for that field.
