  1. I’m hoping the new Ryzen will make a difference. Maybe if I can get it up to 5 GHz... Not sure if getting one of the new Nvidia cards next month will help. I don’t mind spending the money but I’d like to see a decent return for it.
  2. I have a pair of PS3eye cameras I was going to use for hand tracking in VR. I broke the lens on one and successfully removed the filter on the other. I also installed a piece of floppy disc. The modded camera worked well so I think yes you will need to mod your camera.
  3. It’s been awhile (several years) since I made mine. But I had to sand the tips of the LEDs flat for the issue you describe. Took 3 or 4 different grits to first make them flat and then make them clear again.
  4. Hi All, I was in the process of building an A-10c pit before I switched to VR. So I have some boards, switches, panels, connectors, and ribbon cable. I would rather ship to the US as I've never shipped or sold overseas. I have 2 Arduino Mega 2560 boards $15 each + shipping. I also have a B256A13 rev 2 (ser#A0067) board. It has the 8 40 pin connectors with 10cm of ribbon cable. The description can be found here https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=80201 Price is $50 + shipping. Here's a link to the pics of the panels. I used Reactorone's panels and laser cut them on black over translucent white plastic so they can be backlit. They do not include the switches. $100 + shipping I will post the switches and other stuff later. These aren't listed on eBay but my eBay name is doon5261 if you would like to look at my sales track record
  5. Thanks. I hate to see this stuff just sitting in a box being wasted.
  6. I was building an A-10c cockpit but stopped when I went VR. So I have a bunch of stuff that could be of interest to some here but don't know where to list it.
  7. I thought it was only in the BETA path at this point.
  8. There is an in-game setting to confine the mouse to the DCS window. I lean forward and hit the center view button I have mapped to my throttle. Then sit back normally. This will allow me to hit those buttons. When I’m done I just re-set the view to normal.
  9. I used a ruler to measure in game scale. Forcing the IPD to my actual IPD of 71 made the scale correct. I’ve only done this for the A-10c but the scale looks dead on for the Huey as well.
  10. Yes thank you. Do I download the beta through a command line or is there a link?
  11. You don’t have to have Steam running if you don’t want to. Install Steam, the SteamVR program, and Steam WindowsVR. DCS will start directly from the desktop in the Cliff House.
  12. I found a pair of NIB pedals on eBay (in the US). Man these things are stiff. I am going to remove the center detent of course. Does anyone have a link to a less strong return spring than the one that is currently installed? I'm going to go try to match something up at the hardware store. I may even swap it out with my well used pro flight pedals if I can't find something.
  13. Cool, so I did over $100 of mods for $12. That makes me feel even better...
  14. I finally opened up my WH to lube it. Found the O-ring had migrated to above its installed position that was below the lip that holds the gimbal in place. After determining its purpose I ended up just removing it. I kept it and may try to match it to a proper dust seal and install the seal. I also sanded and polished the gimble and pins as per the many video instruction. I always felt that the centering pressure was too great even with a 3” extension installed. I first tried moving the 4 shaft springs to above the swashplate but that made the action too light. So after testing the tension of the main spring I decided to cut 1 of the loops out of it. I used bolt cutters to take the flat loop off and then used a little propane torch and a pair of pliers to heat and bend a new flat loop in place. Now the tension is just right for me. The stick will pretty much hold its position anywhere I set it but will move back to center when near the center point. This is especially useful when flying and having to manipulate switches and dials.
  15. Been looking to see if the VR render target issue has been corrected yet. Anyone have any word?
  16. I think it’s the placement of the tracking cameras. When looking down they are pretty much blocked by your body. I have the pinky paddle on my warthog set up as a function key. I use that in conjunction with the trim hat to move my seat position to better view the radios. I also set up the two switches on the front of the throttle base as snap views. One for each side panel. Makes waypoint creation easy in flight.
  17. The guys on Adam Savage’s Tested have an exceptionally well done review.
  18. Holy cow that guy just rambles. I couldn’t get past the first 10 minutes.
  19. I get it. I tried both the CV1 and Vive. Passed on both of them and I’ve been following VR for almost 20 years. Just hoping for something worth owning. I per-ordered the original Odyssey. I even boxed it back up 3 times to send it back. But some tinkering and sitting “in” the cockpit of an A-10c won out. Now with the O+ it’s even better. I rarely even turn on the 4K TV that I use as a monitor and that’s just mainly for OS stuff. I hope that the tech soon reaches the level of fidelity you require so you can get back “in” a cockpit. I know I just wouldn’t fly anymore on a flat screen.
  20. For interacting I have a multi-gesture trackpad mounted in front of the throttle that can do anything a 3 button mouse with a scroll wheel can do. I also made the pinky paddle on my stick a modifier key so most of the HOTAS buttons serve dual function. I use VA for coms and Cortana talk to text for multi-player texting. For near-sightedness I have the Widmovr lenses. I packed up my physical pit two weeks after I got VR. Never regretted the decision once.
  21. Go into device manager. Open the usb serial bus controller drop down. After each controller in should say something like 1.0 (Microsoft). If not, then update the drivers with a right click and select update driver.
  22. I just spent my $50 on this map and am seriously dissatisfied. I didn’t realize that Dubai only had 12 different office building and maybe as many apartment building designs. And everything is painted in about 5 pastel colors. Is this what Dubai really looks like or is this just that portly done?
  23. Well done. What is that purple spring on the joystick base? Looks pretty hefty.
  24. Yea, the people that say VR is just a fad have never put one on and gone for a flight, or drive, or just stood there in a heavily modded Skyrim and took it all in.
  25. I just cleaned. greased, and modded my Pro Flight rudder pedals. But I would rather have the combat pedals. I know someone did a mod to try to replicate the combat pedals but the fulcrum point is all wrong. I'm hoping someone has a non-functional set of combat pedals they might want to sell.
