  1. +1 Sweet! Thanks for posting. I usually don't hang out to a specific forum until I get the module and start playing with it. Then I start studying about it and the plane's particular quirks. Have not been reading here until tonight.
  2. 1st thing, I will buy it. Then make a profile for my gear. Then learn to fly it and fly the pattern with touch and goes. Then get shot down a lot! Seems to me the Spits have a nasty habit of snap-spinning in certain conditions at slow speed. I'm pretty sure one of the Spit models had a tail-hook for carrier duty, now that would be fun. The early episodes of the old PBS detective series, "Foyle's War" , now on Netflix, has a few real Spits flying about as this guy's son was a Spit pilot. I did not know they had that many flyable museum quality Spits and guys to fly them. Is a F4U in the works?
  3. Reaper6, Just bought this MFD Panel 2-pak set on your suggestion. Can't beat the price. Figure I'll play around with it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826280035&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-PC+Gaming+Accessories+%28Joystick+-+Game+Pad+-+etc.%29-_-N82E16826280035&gclid=Cj0KEQjw8pC9BRCqrq37zZil4a0BEiQAZO_zrB9HNexd5NUntQfiUqevxk5AILVAY8H79lCWj1VXbmgaAta08P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds Thanks
  4. I have noticed the 2 Brightness/Contrast rotary dials have a spin motion speed to them on the console. Any way to slow the speed down in their respective (.lua) file or whatever the file is? If I could slow the spin rate down, my keyboard G-keys would probably be more sensitive and adequate. Thanks
  5. (re: Message #2) "Have you tried programming inside Helios? I personally use the BRT/CON on my cougar MFDs which works very well for me. Reaper6" Programming : How do I do this; what's the process? Tutorial anywhere? Helios? I take it, this is software? (Louisiana - New Orleans? Fond memories of some good times there. My Navy base was an hour away, took bus, walked to French Quarter, went whenever I had the weekend off and no duty section.) Thanks
  6. Also might consider making one using a 3D printer. If you don't want to do it yourself, I bet a 3rd party vendor would do it like a sub-contractor type. I know the submarine base outside Seattle uses a metal matrix instead of plastics using 3D printers, whether the matrix stuff is available currently outside the military's special needs engineering, civilian side, I don't know, but it will eventually trickle down, always does. Yahoo! Groups has a lot of metal machinist guys, I bet 3D printer, also, if you want to get into it.
  7. How, kemosabe? Maybe should ask about this topic to the Input / Output forum to DCS Forums, but I will start here... (Moderator: please move this post to Input/Output Forums if you so deem it necessary.) I want to rig up either 2 rotary switches or sliders with USB connectors, kind of hard wired to have very fine control of the IT-23 TV brightness and contrast rotary(ies) for adjusting viewing conditions using the Shkval in immediate real time. The mouse wheel works very well if I overlay the mouse cursor over each rotary dial controller, but it is a real pain and not very handy fine tuning to lighting conditions. I currently use 4 G-keys in a Logitech G510 keyboard Hi/Low for each dial rotary that gets close enough, but it does not fine tune as well as the mouse wheel does. I use CH Products Fighterstick, Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals in a profile using the CH Control Manager that I am very happy with but cannot figure out how to accomplish what I want to do with the limitation of no rotary dials with what I have. I just added an older Saitek AV8R-01 joystick with the 2 throttle sliders using a powered Belkin 4-way hub as I ran out of USB ports. I want to use the throttle sliders for the rotary dials as one for brightness, the other for contrast. How can I add these 2 functions to the Axis Commands as a new Action heading/title within Options / Controls and set the sliders? I also found a rotary dials switch box that might work, see 2nd photo down: http://simrace.hgsitebuilder.com/button-boxes Started browsing Input/Output forum concerning this topic, found this cool sim-pit: [ame] [/ame] Thanks for any help or ideas or alternate ideas.
  8. Took me about a year to get fairly good with it---full sim mode, not game mode. I am self taught. I learned flying on Multiplayer. My first helicopter study-sim. I have most of the modules, every bit as difficult as the A-10C. They are the best 2 aircraft in the game. Some days, still get shot down a fair amount, flying too aggressively and too close. I usually start-up using auto-start. BUT, it is very helpful when you get shot up and systems go down to know what each switch, etc. does! When I get shot up and hydraulics are going down, I fire up the APU as auxiliary power in-flight RTB, it seems to help. Join with these guys: http://www.blacksharkden.com/ I learned a lot flying with Cooper --- see Message # 6, above, on the old S-77th Tasmanian server. The old S-77th squad : http://www.maddog-simulations.com/ is now a UK server in 1.5 MP. : http://www.maddog-simulations.com/forum-78.html Lately been using the F99th's server in MP on 2.0 , very well thought out real-time combat missions that are usually challenging and very much fun : http://f99th.com/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ With any new aircraft, I am currently learning the "Gazelle" , creating a workable controlers profile is every bit as challenging as learning the aircraft. I have CH Products gear and use the CH Control Manager. Here is Ghost's Dummies' Guide to help simplify the process (.pdf), to get an idea of the complexity of the process : http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php/files/file/109-control-manager-dummies-guide/ and Bob Church's original: http://www.stickworks.com/contents.htm I borrowed 104th's Crunch's profile (with his best wishes) for the Ka-50; his profile is very well thought out : http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php/files/file/131-dcs-blackshark/ and http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60027&highlight=shift I have modified this profile a little bit. If you decide to get the gear and use the profile, just ask, my username here.
  9. Don't fly predictable! I usually don't fly the pre-planned autopilot waypoints. I use flight director and freehand it. Guys criticize me on chatbox for flying with my wheels down. If I need to get on the ground quickly is why or evade very quickly and erratically very low prevents me taking out my Shkval if I get too low and strike the ground. If an enemy aircraft is firing at you, fly erratically, low, in curved flight paths is very hard for them to use their guns on you. I almost always play in Multiplayer---104th Phoenix on 1.5 and F99th on 2.0 . Used to hangout on Devilman's Tasmania S-77th server in 1.2 , Cooper is the best Ka-50 jockey I have seen in game.
  10. Before coming to DCS about 5 years ago, I played "Aces High" (hitechcreations.com) - WWII era - for quite a few years. "2 Weeks" was a standard line. Just a skeleton crew created it and maintained it in a small town in central Texas. They had it so another player could sit in the lap of another pilot, single seat aircraft. Other player was invisible but he could watch the other guy move controls within the cockpit. Was great as a teaching tool. They took it a step further where in multi-engine bombers like the B-17, one guy flew it, another guy could come on-board and man any of the gunner's positions and shoot at the attacking planes. I think the pilot also manned the bombardier position and he flew the plane about to get it in position for level bombing. Been thinking about playing that sim again. Used to be $15 per month covered everything. Multi-crew! What a great idea. Now us married guys can get the wife involved instead of her complaining, have a date-night! LOL! Hope you guys are covered for litigation expenses due to spousal disagreements...
  11. Just bought this helicopter. I fly the Shark : every move I make, I click the trimmer button. Rarely do I hold the trim button down while maneuvering except to swing the tail around to quickly lose speed going into a hover. Want to fly the Gazelle the same way but this bird is not the Ka-50. I can fly it around but it is a learn as I go learning phase, still feeling this thing out. I do notice offsetting my stick, off-center, when I click the trimmer reset button (LCtrl + t), the stick position on the (RCtrl + Enter) pictorial control-indicator, moves to center position when using the Gazelle's trim reset. I also mapped the 4-way trim buttons just in case I might need to use them, but have not been using them. This bird is way more sensitive than the Ka-50. I use a CH Fighterstick as my cyclic. It is not FFB. I have the Fighterstick mounted on my desk, same level as my keyboard, I move the stick around at its base, where the button is, below the trigger. This gives me very fine control. No deadzone. 100% saturation. No curves. Pro Throttle is my collective.
  12. Interesting to read. My Alienware PC purchased in 2011 has a 3D monitor and powered glasses, but I don't use it very often, maybe watch a 3D movie. I find the 3D throws my brain too much flying about. Will look into this. Thanks.
  13. (re: Message #1) I was having negative issues also. I tried out several through GeForce Experience. I rolled back to Nvidia's 314.22 driver and have been using that edition up to a couple weeks ago for my GTX 680 and it worked OK in 1.5 . 2.0 was pushing the card's limits with stutters and freeze-ups. Just upgraded my video card to a new (newegg.com) GTX 970 and the latest driver 368.81, and a 512 GB SSD 850 Pro for DCS only. Wow, some difference. I think I am far as I can go with my old Alienware motherboard. A new build one of these days... but I am in no hurry as long as Microsoft still supports Win 7 Pro or 2.0 gets to be more demanding. 2 years later, the price comes down a wee bit. https://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/b3049/asus-strix-gtx-970-directcu-ii-oc
  14. (re: Message #896) I have no problem killing tanks or any gv's at night, pitch-black dark using the Ka-50. I use Toby's Green Screen Shkval mod, but the default black and white Shkval works just as good. Only gripe I have with the Shark is too much glare on the HUD using night vision goggles. But finding and killing the tanks is all in using the Shkval and Manual mode. 104th Phoenix server night ops are especially very dark lately. Just purchased this Gazelle module to see how she flies. Years ago played Microprose's "Gunship" title that was much fun, though it was not Multiplayer. Still have a copy of it, ran it on my Commodore 64, 1986 copyright date. I thought the copter was fairly well thought out for the limitation of the computer technology at the time. Still have my C-64. Still works, too!
  15. Thanks guys. I checked the Dell and Alienware forums to see how far I can go upgrading according to my current PC build. Couple guys suggested the Asus Strix GTX 970 and had success with it, my motherboard being same. Its price has come down. If I go the 1080 I'd have to build a new machine.
  16. Hi, Adding GeForce GTX 970 to Alienware Aurora R3 to replace GTX 680, waiting for delivery. NewEgg.com purchase. Added a new Samsung 850 Pro SSD (512GB) card last week, (M) drive. I just added it and installed fresh new DCSW 2.0 and 1.5 to it, then added some of my modules, mostly the copters. Left my DCSW original install on © . Is it absolutely necessary to deactivate my modules before changeout to new GTX 970 card? I still have my original activations. I have most of the module inventory. Don't care if I lose only one per each module. But also do not wish to create a nightmare situation. Not planning on a new machine just yet. Why I ask is because of this resource: ======================== http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Problem_with_Activation If necessary, what is the procedure to deactivate / reactivate each, per module? Thanks for any help.
  17. This post concurs your discovery: ===================== http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=168227 Possible solution, see Message #4: ====================== http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=169628 There is a mod I use that has the laser temperature included on the hud. It was made by Devrim, but I do not see it still listed in the Users Files downloads. This is the mod, but mine includes the laser temperature digital readout. I use it in 1.5 and 2.0 , still, using JSGME. ======================================================================= http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/607269/ Its related thread: =========== http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=93618 Last night I played on the 104th's server, night time op, Red side. I was at WP2 I turn the laser off after firing, missile hits, turn it off. Fired all my Vikhrs and hit all my targets. I am fine on 1st sortie out and took on no damage. I went back to rearm and get gas at the FARP just a few kilometers away between WP2 and WP1. I returned to WP2 where I was previously, all setup in position to kill tanks and stuff and I got ready to lock the target up, it does not lock but targeting cursor rectangular white box just drifts away. Please tell me wtf is going on? I used to go out and back 5 times with the same copter. Something has changed in game. So, I will try a repair when I go get gas and ammo on consecutive repeat outings. That or just grab another copter from the roster list.
  18. (Re: Message #4) I concur. Now, I see what you mean. DCS World Stable version 1.5.3. Was on the 104th's server, Blue side, Ka-50, wee hours this morning about 3AM Eastern Time Zone. My 2nd outing out, no damage, about 6km out from Tor and tanks near the bridge on the way to waypoint 2. Waypoint 1 was still active, almost all ground targets negated. First few missiles hit no problem. Then noticed in the HUD, target locked, before firing, countdown timer only went about 3 seconds, not the 20 seconds or so needed to hit target. Fired. Vikhr went errant about half way out, dropped hit ground, and exploded. Happened repeatedly about 6 times. Been resetting Laser with the lower front dash reset button after each kill. Something wrong with the laser targeting system? My record, my best with the same requisitioned copter is 5 times out and back with the same Laser and on Multiplayer. {Gripe: With all the negative crap happening lately, to me, is DCS asking me to go find another sim? A sim where the stuff works properly right out of the box? Hate the idea of spending the big bucks to get Prepar 3D, I think that's my next step in my sim evolution. I have FSX and SuperBug F/A-18 and a few of Cattalino mods. These guys look to be interesting http://vcw-8.com/ } ______________________________FIX__IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. I still have this problem, too! I like using SweetFX. RE: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=151053
  20. See Message #'s 49 and 50 : ================== http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=81719&page=5 I see I am talking to myself; about 18 months ago I replied to the thread above, #'s 137 & 138. Well, it worked, then. LOL! Wonder what changed? What's the common denominator? I have Win 7 Pro. Does this occur using Win 10? Did DirectX change in game? Wonder what the DCS developers think? Have never heard a peep from these guys concerning this issue. (How I feel about purchasing new products is : How about fixing the old stuff before creating the new stuff??)
  21. Hi Devrim, Thanks for the link. Yes, I think this is the same issue. BS1 was my 2nd DCS module after getting the BestBuy boxed set Warthog A-10C and "Log On" boxed is how I started with you guys. I usually fly the Ka-50 on the 104th Phoenix's server in MP (1.5.3 Stable version) lately, usually by myself, but I'm always looking for buddies to fly with. Does occur sometimes. And sometimes other ground pounders join in. I usually play RED side because less people are on and better frame rates. Have not seen this issue (problem) in a long time. When this occurred recently on the 104th Phoenix in MP I was flying Ka-50 on BLUE side. Sometimes I play Blue to get to the other waypoints progressions. Rarely ever get past WP1 flying Red. Two times, two separate days. I was experiencing bad lag ballpark 20fps or less Blue on 104th. Gonna' get a new video card one of these days. Anyway, problem occurred. Tried everything I could think of to fix it. Gave up, fly RTB. Mission was "2_OP_Liberty_V5_Mirage2000". WP1 back to base is 71K. (Used to run 10K races, that's 6.2 miles.) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I turned all weapons systems off. Half-way back, in flight, just for the heck of it I fire up the weapons system, Shkval slew is working fine!! I turned around back to target area and shot the rest of my Vikhrs. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Go figure. So, I think something overheated or some common denominator like that. Have not had this issue flying RED side. I use the CH Products Pro Throttle's Mini-Stick w/USB plug for slewing and reset it to center with pushing the Mini-Stick in (I think it is pushbutton #1, the Mode switch). Profile was created by 104th's Crunch (username). His download is at Revvin's CH Hangar website. That's why I chose "DieHard" as a handle, too easy to log off, restart PC, and get another copter. Not me, I fly back to get a repair. LOL! I will read that whole thing you referred me to, and any links off of it. Thanks. And thanks for your great mods, mod ideas and downloads.
  22. This happens to me on the 104th Phoenix server in MP. Sometimes. All of a sudden, after firing Vikhrs, sometimes, what I call the "targeting cursor" Shkval Slew (left, right, up, down and recenter) goes haywire, the targeting circle drifting right. I can reset it to its zero-point, then it drifts right and back to zero repeatedly. Does not stay put after "RControl + i" = Shkval Center. Does something overheat? This happened today, I had no battle damage, only fired 6 missiles. How to fix, in-flight, on station at the target area? Had to RTB and do a repair, 50K back to base.
