  1. I have not read this entire thread; maybe you guys already have seen these links? : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_surviving_Republic_P-47_Thunderbolts from this search : https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=flyable+P-47D+30 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_P-47_Thunderbolt and https://airandspace.si.edu/collection-objects/republic-p-47d-30-ra-thunderbolt from this search: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=P-47D+30 Also, check out the Google IMAGES pages of each link as to possible leads. Wright-Patterson AFB near Dayton, Ohio USA https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Museum_of_the_United_States_Air_Force You might get in touch with the maintenance shack guys at the Smithsonian aircraft museum that rebuild these aircraft for display. I saw a documentary program once, probably on PBS, showing how they took an old relic and put a lot of time and love in her for display purposes. They had a small metal machine shop of lathes and mills, etc. to recreate custom parts. I was there in 1980, in Washington D.C. , I bet that museum has expanded greatly in 36 years.
  2. +1 Nice! Thanks for posting this.
  3. There are 4 Modes. If you want to get a little deeper into it, here you go : http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3124081/Control_Manager_-_How_Do_I http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php/files/file/109-control-manager-dummies-guide/ http://www.stickworks.com/contents.htm I use Crunch's Ka-50 profile. Had to modify it a little bit due to changes how DCS Options/Controls now works: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=60027&highlight=shift Also, here: http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php/files/file/131-dcs-blackshark/ I use a similar setup as his Warthog profile. In my CH Control Manager I have a separate profile for each DCSW plane, copter, and Combined Arms; plus a few other sims' inventory. The whole stash saves in My Documents under CH Control Manager.
  4. See March 7, 2016 A short video follows: https://www.facebook.com/borntoflypage/videos/1701607246723015/
  5. These guys will be in the Poughkeepsie, NY area shortly (FDR country): http://www.collingsfoundation.org/events/category/wings-of-freedom-tour/ and see top-of-page (today's paper) here: http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/ $450 for 30 minute flight in B-17 $3200 for 60 minute flight P-51C (travel expenses getting here might be cheaper---LOL!)
  6. I have one request... How would I put that piece of paper back on the forward ASP block with the Imperial to Metric conversions? Is this possible to do?
  7. (re: Message #1) I just added your Mig-21Bis clear English cockpit mod to my JSGME setup in the current 1.5.4 Checked it out in Instant Action / Cold Start in Single Player mode in 1.5.4 Nice job. Thanks

  9. Think my machine is older than yours. Just upgraded awhile back. I run much better, good enough for me currently. 2.0 Multiplayer runs much better. : https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=170461&highlight=DieHard I did some reading on Dell's Alienware forums to see just how far I could reasonably go with my existing motherboard. Found a guy with almost the same setup as me, I followed his lead. You might think about getting a more powerful powerpack. I usually get my stuff from Newegg.com My current nVidia driver is 368.81 . I just run one monitor 1920 x 1080 . I don't lock my frame rates , Vsynch is unchecked. Next machine don't know what I will do just yet.
  10. Nice! That must have been fun, right there from the beginning. Were you involved in any of the Flight Sim development?
  11. Yes. I aim a little bit higher. Also Auto-Turn On Target is turned on and the "Moving" push-button is turned on. I don't use the auto-aiming thingy switch. Direct Heading switch (not Direct Track). It is fun to see the enemy SAM coming at me and near-miss...
  12. (Might be useful, might not... Don't know if this is common knowledge.) In flight, using the Autopilot turned on, Shkval on, Route Mode switch turned on, the flight path can be over-ridden by using the 4-way mini-joystick. I use it this way in Multiplayer on the 104th Phoenix's server, their pre-planned way-point(s) flight path. I have my 4-way Shkval moves mapped to my CH Products---Pro Throttle's Mini-Joystick. I can actually setup a Vikhr run, in flight, target an enemy position including SAM sites by locating the position in zoom-in view, acquire it and have the Laser running turned on, lock-it up beyond 8K out until I know I am locked and fire a missile or two when just out of range prior determination guess-ta-mating so when the missile impacts I am in range. It is a rather ballsy move and have countermeasures at the ready and be ready to disengage out of autopilot to manual control and fly evasive retreat, down low, and erratic, back the way I came in. And go again until I use up my missiles. Gun runs are less survivable due to having to get in much closer to be effective. For the folks that think the Ka-50 is just a hovering "ho-hum" missile firing platform that is rather boring to fly. -+- Also, a way-point flight path does not need to be preset. The Ka-50 in-flight will follow the Shkval aiming point in Route mode and not necessarily need to be locked to have the copter fly to it.
  13. (Old thread) F99th guys have interesting Ka-50 carrying abilities in 2.0 in Multiplayer using the " \ " key or "Right Alt + \" in-flight.
  14. Remember, a few years ago, a big hurricane hit the USA State of Florida and took all the cell phone towers down? Wonder if any VOR stations went down, too? Any pro pilots in here (DCS)? What is done when VOR stations go down as secondary procedure? So, any possible hurricane / tornado issues on the Caucasus or Nevada maps? LOL!
  15. Your sig---that looks like Flight Simulator, 32-bit? I started with Commodore 64 in 1985 or there-bouts.
  16. I have seen this happen lately in Multiplayer, somewhere. That is why it is important to know how to do the start-up manually from cold start, so to troubleshoot situations both on the ground start and in-flight problems.
  17. Nicely done. I just added your tutorials to my Ka-50 bookmarks stash. I'm usually flying about freehand in Flight Director in Multiplayer. Your info will be a nice feature to be implemented in future flights. I never got very deep into using the ABRIS. In 2.0 with the F99th guys, all I am given there is an automatic return point back to the field I took off from. Your notes will be useful---IF the ABRIS doesn't get damaged. I use a special keyboard made by Logitech, the G510 : https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G510s-Gaming-Keyboard-Screen/dp/B00BCEK2LU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1471842328&sr=8-1&keywords=logitech+g510+keyboard I bought it shortly after getting DCS, back about 2011. It has 54 programmable G-keys. I setup the 4 major keys to access the kneeboard cheat. When I get hit hard and luckily survive it, my ABRIS is most likely out and also most likely my hydraulics. At least I can find my way back to base and get repaired. Don't know if it helps, but it seems to, I always have my APU all set to fire up and turn it on in-flight as auxiliary power and I also move the throttle for both engines to max. I don't fly with the APU always on, only if I get the low or no hydraulics warning, then I turn it on. Also fire off my remaining Vikhrs and drop any secondary stores to become a little bit lighter. Then fly back low and slow and hope enemy aircraft do not find me. I don't turn off the engine governors. I never much liked BlueFlag flying the Ka-50. Guess I just did not understand what was going on. Since reading your tutes I understand more what is going on. The total war missions mimic what the WWII combat flight sim, "Aces High" has been doing for years in their weekly, special ops, couple hour duration, total groups immersion of reliving historic combat sorties. I rigged up SimpleRadio and have TS3 turned on; I will have to start communicating with you guys for common goal sorties. Thanks.
  18. 2.0 , the F99th guys (their server) have some pretty well thought out missions in Multiplayer if you guys are getting bored with the desert terrain. The dessert terrain at one of the hotels in Vegas is pretty good... One note: the trees in 2.0 are collidable, so you may need to adapt your flying style compared to 1.5 I mostly just fly the Ka-50.
  19. (re: Message #54) How many DCS employed guys working on code full time compared to the real aircraft's original design time-frame envelope and the man-hours comparison to that end?
  20. Yep, I got to get deeper into using the ABRIS. My 2009 hardcopy Ka-50 flight manual I found using Amazon, the ABRIS tutorial, Chapter 7 is 116 pages. Found this YouTube video 2-parter : [ame] [/ame] At least getting better at cross-country navigation. Went from BuddySpike's gadget real-time map and the MGRS overlay converting to Lat\Long input in PVI-800 and flew 117 clicks to the enemy's FARP, dead-on, no problem. Thanks to all-you-alls for the helpful suggestions.
  21. Works great!
  22. Updated my Meassage #489 as an edit.
  23. Installed SimpleRadio last night 1.5 Stable, latest download update off your site, Message #1, this thread. I used the installer .exe I typed in the suggested added line to the export.lua in scripts. Added rest of the suggested files in your ReadMe to the Program Files folder your install .exe created. Using Windows 7 Pro. Norton 360 (Norton Security with Backup) and MalwareBytes Pro (paid version), both are always on. In game it works fine. I set a PTT button on my Fighterstick. I receive OK. I did not try the microphone in game. I tested my setup using the mike using the "preview audio" push button, offline, not in game. I can hear myself. I listened in to the Red side flyboys BuddySpike server Operation:BlueFlag in game on MP. Server IP : 5.189.162.17 For Ka-50 : Channel 126 AM VHF2 Only negative issue is my frame rates are way down. I added a SSD unique to DCS World and a new video card couple weeks ago. I am fine on the Nevada map 2.0 on the F99th's server. Don't know, yet, if the really slow frame rates is due to SimpleRadio or not. (I tried to do it JSGME manually with no luck.) Nice! DCSW gonna' buy your idea? Some of you guys, probably most of you, are light years ahead of me with creative ideas for game improvements.
  24. Have been reading this guy's blog since buying his XP Dummies Guide. He wrote his Dummies book for Windows 10 but he is not much of a fan : https://www.askwoody.com/2016/i-recommend-that-you-actively-block-the-windows-10-anniversary-update/ I still use Windows 7 Pro. When I get or build a new machine I will get whatever is new, then. Maybe DCSW will go Linux...
  25. Introducing myself to Operation:BlueFlag on the BuddySpike.net server in MP on 1.5 There are no preset WP to kill zones using this server. I found the Gadget real time online map. How do I convert mouse overlay MGRS grid coordinates to latitude / longitude input to the PVI 800 for Ka-50? Looking for any info or tutes. Will be adding the DCS: SimpleRadio once I figure out the install process. Thanks
