  1. (re: Message #1) Well, at least you are home and she knows where you are when you are simmin'. That has to count positively for something... The joys of being married.
  2. Mine is located at: I have Windows 7, click Start button, then click Computer : C:\ Users\"username"\Saved Games\DCS\InputLayoutsTxt\Ka-50 Sim\Keyboard.html But as Devrim stated, Options\Controls will show you the path at the top of your screen when you click "MAKE HTML" . You will be taken right to Ka-50 Sim in the path above.
  3. I found some of my buddies I served with in a Seabee battalion I was with to Military.com if you are looking for buddies.
  4. There used to be a guy that flew with Moa's FC2 VNAO Stallturn server group a couple years ago. His username is/was Xiang. I think JAR might know this guy, also. He was supposed to be a current F-18 jockey, then. Moa hangs with the 104th Phoenix. JAR has his own Aussie MP server VFA-113 Stingers (http://www.vfa-113.com/ ); for me Australia servers are on about 4AM NY time zone. There is a retired guy, "Pop", that taught to Pensacola and a P-3 Orion joc, that flies the VRS Superbug sim and a few other guys if you checkout their forums and they have servers up. http://forums.vrsimulations.com/forums/phpBB3/ http://vcw-8.com/
  5. (re: Message #7) In 2050 I will be age 99, if I live that long. I think I'd rather live less long with a beer or two and a peppermint schnaps chaser once in awhile, than on a no alcohol diet! It is quite fun sim flying in MP, talking on TS3, everybody kinda' soused, and not flying so great.
  6. (re: Message #1) Is there a Part #2 to this video? I did not read through the entire thread. Thanks.
  7. (re: Message #1) I did not vote as I have no access to a real Me-109. Anybody talk to a real life 109 pilot? What reference(s) are you basing your complaint? You could ask this guy, though not a K4 : 17 minutes in, Erich talks about the 190's and the 109's rudder and brakes. More brakes and rudder, starts at 21:45 : http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/revisiting_dora_part_1/ I like this DCS sim aircraft as is, I think it is great. Learning to land this 109, allowed me to finally learn how to successfully land the 190. Just learn to fly the thing within its existing parameters. Like flying the Ka-50, some guys dream up workaround "cheats" (mods) to get what they want.
  8. (re: Message #3) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=144757 https://archive.org/details/wwIIarchive?and Nice WWII era stash. This link is a real treat: https://archive.org/details/StageDoorCanteen1943 Thanks for the link.
  9. (re: Message #1) All of 'em! Doesn't really matter, in MP, I usually get shot down no matter what I am flying. {;^) B-17 would be fun, especially if it can be manned simultaneously with another real person or more. This add-another-person technology is doable, it has been accomplished in another WWII era online air-combat sim for several years.
  10. (re: message #1) Thumbs up! Just purchased this module today. Saw your mod for this aircraft in the User Files. I can read Spanish a little bit, my vocabulary is not very extensive. Thanks much.
  11. I put my mods in my JSGME. If it is necessary, sometimes, I remove the original path and keep it in a dedicated My Documents stash as backup, but most of the time my loaded right column mods just overwrite what is already there. Anyway, all I have to remember to do when an update patch occurs is to move all my loaded mods to the left column so nothing gets corrupted. Will this procedure work for you in this case?
  12. I think the beta developers depend on users' comments and constructive criticism to make the product better, much the same way a lot of USA products that hit the market, they let the consumers be the testbed for later product improvement.
  13. I noticed the interviewer was asking Erich specific questions concerning the flying, taxiing, takeoff and landing characteristics of the plane he flew. They were picking his brains. Took me forever to get the P-51 down. Even with that under my belt, the Dora was the hardest to learn to date of the fixed wing aircraft and landing it was the issue. Me, too, I don't touch the brakes, just let her roll out. I wonder how the DCS sim flies now with Erich at the controls since changes were made? Is he happy with her, now?
  14. Sure! Sounds good to me. Start working on the Corsair, now. Don't know if I am going to last that long before everything comes out, though. I am age 63, might have 20 years left, less if dementia kicks in. :)
  15. (re: Message #1) Hi, I just found this video posted in "Official Updates" and watched it through. Good stuff. Dora is my favorite fixed wing aircraft in DCS. I have most of the DCS jets, all 3 copters, the Korea jets, and the 3 WWII era planes. The California Crab is how I have been flying the WWII era sim planes even before I found DCS. It is performed by me just as Erich describes, not only to lose speed quickly at landing, but can drop altitude really fast and is a great way to force an overshoot for the less experienced guy on my six. Pretty hard to successfully try that with the more experienced guys. There is a local guy that tows gliders here in my town. On his way down, after the glider releases, he can lose altitude very, very quickly doing that maneuver even with more dropped wing. Good info in the video to use in game. Yeah, I need the English captions, though my heritage is from Germany. Thanks.
  16. (re: Message #7) That photo sure looks like Turkey Lake in Harriman Park in NY State on the southern boundary of West Point's property where they conduct basic training exercises for the cadets. Where is that lake located?
  17. Yes, I see the two governor switches on the AP center console. Thanks to all for the replies concerning my question.
  18. 159th is all you need! They have it setup usually with Combined Arms with the copters reinforcing troops and troop weapons resupply with the Mi-8 and Huey or as assault weapons. Also: The 51st, 77th, 99th, 104th, Newb City, the Australian AEF 161st and the Virtual Aerobatic Server has Mi-8 at times. I purchased my Mi-8 for $14 on a really good sale about a year ago. I am just starting the learning process with her. No need to test a module for a $14 investment, how can I lose?
  19. I agree. Some MP combat servers all you get is your cockpit internal view and out the windows. I don't get an active F10 map other than maybe my position on it and I cannot see my aircraft skin. There are no other F-keys allowed to operate in game.
  20. (re: Message #85) +1
  21. (re: Message #1) Just saw this today. Glad I saw this before going nuts remapping my Options/Controls Mi-8 keyboard commands for AP Heading and Altitude Off commands. I was going to create my CH Pro Throttle in 3 Modes so one 4-way button could control the AP trimmers. I think I will wait on that and see what develops by final release.
  22. I use Devrim's English labels mod with his texture modifications. His does a nice job. I have no negative issues using it. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/668712/
  23. "Control Manager for Dummies" http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php/files/file/109-control-manager-dummies-guide/ See Page 75 or thereabouts, page 93 specifically for the Mi-8's situation. Ka-50 Profile http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/index.php/files/file/131-dcs-blackshark/ You can take a look at his and figure out how he did it. I use this profile since BS1. Add your own controls http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=115325&highlight=Add+Controls+UH-1H+Pilot+Sight
  24. I just started learning the Mi-8 a week or so ago. What you state is true for me, too in the Cold Start sortie in Instant Action and the 159th's MP server. In MP, using the Virtual Aerobatics Server, the Cyclic and the Collective controls in the cockpit will move before power is turned on.
  25. (I did a forum search for this issue, your post thread came up.) Yep, me too. Want to program the On / Off buttons for each, one button each, instead of turning off with using the mouse pointer. Each control can be added by its default in Options/Controls, but the added change does not stick. Maybe this guy's workaround might work by redefining the items' keyboard definition assignment: "Add Controls for UH-1H Pilot Sight and more" ============================= http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=115325&highlight=Add+Controls+UH-1H+Pilot+Sight If at all possible make added changes with JSGME, then it will load each time of items that you have implemented. An update will not overwrite the JSGME add-on. Don't get too worked up about this, changes will be coming shortly: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=143573 I am going to set Mi-8 aside until final release. Why waste the effort?
