As to my quote above, I had forgotten about the BS2 purchase. I can fly the Ka-50 using the Republic Campaign in Open Beta 1.5 with the latest patch. For less than $7, I figure why not see if the thing works? I noticed I get no Auto Pilot Route Mode to engage RTB in Airfield #1 push-button selection. I had to RTB in AP Director mode back to the FARP in the 1st sortie. I refuelled OK. Rotor wash really sounds tinny on my end. Give enough time after 1.5 final release somebody will create a better sound mod. I tend to not complain too much. I live with issues, and make the best of it, find a workaround. If anything is going on with negative issues, others within the DCSW community will chirp in and things will eventually change. I am not too up on the Ka-50 lately. Been flying the WWII birds and the last couple weeks has been only the Bf-109. If I am away from any of the aircraft too long, I start forgetting stuff, and I used to know the Shark inside out. I'll be age 64 in a few days and my lousy memory, one dedicated aircraft at a time is enough for me. Dog-fighting needs to be second nature, not making stupid mistakes by hesitating forgetting how something works.

+1 I agree with your elevator trim observation, but... the 109 is supposedly accurately modeled. Makes me appreciate the guys that flew her and had to, not questioning orders. Nice thing about being in the military, you might not especially like the job, but you gotta' do it anyway if it happens to be your job to do.

I suspect elevator locks up and freezes solid at overspeed. The elevator trim still functions adequately enough to rtb. I did a search within the 109 group here. I only found one guy talking about it: Message #106 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=135100&page=11 Anybody else experience this? Thoughts?

(re: Message #110) I use WEP longer than I should. I have two switches on my stick for On/Off to not overuse it, but I still do. I usually use the same plane more than once. Even getting a repair once or twice does not seem to fix the engine each time. 3rd or 4th rtb out and back after a repair my engine starts sputtering, cannot even taxi.

Elevator Locks Up: I suspect due to compression at overspeed (re: Message #106) Just did a search for "elevator locks" This post confirms this guy's observation as to the elevator locking up and what I suspect is going on. I have not ripped wings off. 109 is still steerable using elevator trim, but landings are fun. I am sim-flying the 109 in the Open Beta : DoW server and I am wondering if DoW has random failures turned on as this result only has occured using this server?

My Open Beta directory is not the DCS default. Currently learning the Bf-109 K-4. When I am in SP in Instant Action for Cold Start or Takeoff and hit the Esc key to Exit Mission to bring up the Adjust Controls box, I want to go to the Manual box just above it. The path listed will not work correctly because my directory is not the default. "Cannot load manual!" "Error: can't open '.Mods/aircraft/Bf-109K-4/Doc/Manual/manual.txt.lua'" Quotation marks are mine. Where can I change this to enter my path, so the .lua will execute?

I only fly against the SP AI to get a feel for the aircraft I am testing. The AI guys are pretty darn good, but they are consistently too good. I fly the various WWII servers 99% of the time. There is a mix of across the board real player skill levels. For me, so far, the 109 is below performance compared to my 190 or P-51. My favorite is the 190. The 190 is not a turn fighter. 190 can outrun a P-51 on a flat out run. Get separation. Come back at it. The European ACG server usually has a mix of real guys and also AI mixed in. In the hands of a real sim pro, simulation flying the various DCS combat aircraft, any of these aircraft fighting against them is a real challenge. I don't use TrackIR. I have it, I just don't like it. I set myself up with a hat button to include: slow zoom in and out, zoom normal, and Numpad 5 central view and another hat button for looking around. And 2 custom snap-views are looking back of my tail, both sides.

(re: Message #1) Will this new campaign work with the Upgrade Version of BS1 thru BS2? I fly Ka-50 just fine in DCS World and initially with the 1st 1.5 Open Beta using the upgrade version, so far. Have not flown Ka-50 with today's 1.5 update. The only purchase I made was for the Ka-50 just one time with BS1 about 4 years ago. OR Do I need to uninstall my old version and upgrade by purchasing BS2? http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/dcs_black_shark_2/ For me, with discount and bonus money it is just $19.

I was on Giant Mtn. in the Adirondacks back when Plattsburgh Air Force Base in NY State was still there. I saw a single A-10 about 1,000 feet below me flying low over Rt. 73 on the way to Keene Valley. That was a real treat seeing that. Not very often today I see military aircraft back in wilderness areas. During 'Nam it was fairly common to see F-4's in the Catskills dog-fight playing around coming over from Stewart Air Force Base.

Some of the keyboard commands changed for Ka-50 in 1.5. I got up and out OK flying around and getting shot down couple of times {;^) I was on your Tasmanian server at about 360 ping wee hours here. I'll give it another go tonight. Take care.

+1 :thumbup: Did search looking for STP's TeamSpeak 3 IP#, saw this post. DCS should have a company owned central server like Aces High has had for years accessible by incorporating a monthly fee. Not much to offer in MP because all of the locked servers, including the 1.5 OpenBeta MP server. Have been flying WWII planes lately.

If I have a bandit on my tail, I go for the ground, be it city buildings, hills, trees or zig-zagging the power line towers. I'm looking for any way to get more separation from him so I can go at him again and try to get on HIS tail. Once they make the trees real and collidable should be interesting for both me and him. Yeah, I have lost the bad guy in the ground cover. Usually he slips up and runs into something... I was on the Open Beta 1.5 update, some new WWII era, USA (low ping) server today. When I got near the F10 map's bullseye I noticed very small circle open dots out the cockpit at about 2 or 3 miles out where the enemy aircraft were. Is this something new? Is this deliberate? Nice feature!

Some of my JSGME mods are not working in the OpenBeta 1.5 update.

Me, too, I'm only interested in mission talk and just limited to essentials. I usually join a TS3 channel in game, but I will turn the speakers off. I'll talk using text chat. Guys want to chatter should take their conversation to a side channel. Non-essential voice chatter distracts my concentration. There are a few MP servers around like the 104th's discipline, but not many.

My login name is not my in game MP player's name ID. I login to the sim no problem. My in-game MP username DieHard does not appear on the 104th server in game. "Player" highlights without quotation marks. How do I change my in-game username? +++++++++++++++++++++++++ Found solution: Multiplayer servers listing, see upper right hand corner to change player name ID.

Found solution further down this message board, 3 separate posts. Items are there, rearranged on the opening screen, top of page. Installed the beta no problem. Flew Ka-50 on the 104th server.

Yep, thanks for the tip. I forgot this was true adding this mod to my DCS World Open Beta installation, using Jones Soft JSGME for all my mods. I am currently running DCSW version 1.2.16.43180 on October 1, 2015. That is why the HUD Laser temperature indicator was not being displayed in game SP and MP. I was going nuts why this was not working correctly. Brought this thread up and reread all of it. All I did was rename the sub-folder's path in my JSGME's _MOD folder from aircrafts to aircraft. I have encountered this same mindset in other air combat sims, go figure. Better to find a squad with similar goals, organized fights, even consider all fighters in an air start at altitude. devilman's maddog squad is looking for new guys.
