  1. Left Alt + Space = Charge MK108 On the stick, it is the left lower button. This command depresses this button. What does this do? I mapped it, it does not seem to do anything.
  2. Saw this yesterday or the day before about the unique wind phenomena of the Sierra Mountains concerning the western area of our new Nevada map. http://www.smithsonianchannel.com/videos/simulating-a-plane-crash-in-the-windeee-dome/37823 YouTube: ====== [ame] [/ame] Search: "The Nevada Triangle+Smithsonian Channel" ================================== https://www.bing.com/search?q=The+Nevada+Triangle%2BSmithsonian+Channel&qs=n&form=QBRE&pq=the+nevada+triangle%2Bsmithsonian+channel&sc=1-39&sp=-1&sk=&cvid=4C6C9D2E024D462787404445814918B8 -+- Cheers
  3. I watched this video through to end a few months ago learning the 190. Currently re-learning the 109 and this video was referenced in the 109 forum. I forgot I had seen this video before. I realized I had seen it watching it through this second time. I'm age 64 and my memory is starting to go. I'm getting so I only fly one sim aircraft to stay relatively sharp with her and stay several months with just the one aircraft. Then when I switch to another one previously flown I have to get reacquainted with that one. You guys (DCS) must have gotten the modeling just about right. Erich discusses the differences of the flight and landing characteristics between the two planes, and me having flown both in the sim, I too, have noticed the differences as Erich has explained. I can takeoff, fly around and land the 109 fairly well, but dogfighting is a whole 'nother issue---I suck! Thanks for the effort. Great stuff.
  4. Me, too, except ATA for me is 1.2, up on two wheels, and she goes up ever so nicely. My setup using the Nevada map was using Instant Action / Nevada Takeoff from Groom Lake. Have to use a lot of right rudder and play with it. I landed where the big commercial jets are parked in Las Vegas. Tailwheel locked. I even taxi all the time with it locked. Flaps are up. I set trim +1 with no external gas tank, 100% fuel. Me, too, after takeoff, wheels up, then I set the prop to auto-governor. Have been only flying 109 for past 3 weeks, relearning her and learning more. In Special I use the default, no cheats. Bf-109K-4 does not operate same as P-51 or 190. There is a bit of a learning curve involved learning to fly her. I agree, 109 wants to climb all the time unless I reduce throttle to the 109's sweet-spot, which btw is too dam_ slow. The Nevada map is only the alpha, I'm sure DCS will get it right.
  5. (re: Message #11---LANDINGS) Discovered this thread a few days ago. Printed it out for reference. I have been flying the 109 in auto-prop with governor on. Landing in auto, I have tailwheel locked, tail is trimmed a bit heavy for 3-point landing, I approach the runway with full flaps and reach runway at about 200 kph. I get close to touchdown and close throttle, and just wait for airspeed to drop and basically I stall inches above the runway and 3-point land. I do not touch the brake pedals until I get real slow. Have not run out of runway doing it this way, yet. Toe brakes are set to +30 each with Slider and Invert checked for CH Pro Pedals. Takeoff in manual prop, with prop at 11:30 o'clock at 1.2 ATA , no flaps down, elevator trim at zero, 80% to 100% gas, no bombs or external tank, works beautifully. After takeoff, wheels up, running lights off, auto-governor on, adjust elevator trim. I cruise at about 2,000 to 2300 rpm. I also map a kill switch On/Off for turning the engine off in-flight. Comes in handy diving and in other circumstances like forcing that guy on my tail to overshoot, and landings. I will be experimenting with the manual prop. Oh, BTW, since I tend to blow the 109's engine, my eyes are always glued to the RPM gauge even in my peripheral vision! I rarely venture much above 2400 rpm. Thanks for posting this thread.
  6. They could add NASCAR racing cars in racing competition and utilize that Vegas race track!
  7. Devilman always comes up with interesting combat missions in MP, stay tuned. What was that movie concerning Russian troops in the USA, "Red Dawn" ?
  8. Maybe you are not the guy in question.
  9. (re: Message #1) I've been playing 4 years, now, I'm still a noob! Ka-50 is my main ride. I prefer Multiplayer (MP). I play online here: http://www.maddog-simulations.com/ There is a Tasmania/Aussie server, UK server, New Hampshire---USA server, and sometime a Colorado server up at times. I usually play the NH one. 159th squad is good, as is the 104th, 51st. We were all noobs, once. Some of the better guys still are when they goof-up and get shot down. Or run into trees... Got to break that habit real quick. Blooze is always looking for A-10 pilots and he has interesting missions on his server. http://forums.eagle.ru/member.php?u=93751
  10. Initial download was about 12 hours. The Nevada terrain an additional 14 hours. No problems downloading, just slow. I used the USA server, went with the torrent. I did keep my Norton 360 antivirus and its firewall up and my Malwarebytes Home Premium was also on. Made a restore point before I started the download. Downloading my modules off the 1.5 OpenBeta went really fast. USA throttles back internet speeds compared to Europe. I have the fastest download/upload speed in my area with Time-Warner cable Internet. Next time I will try the European server. Had to modify TacView from the 1.5 OpenBeta to see the Nevada terrain. Not too bad flying about in the Ka-50 or Huey. I don't use VSynch and Flat Shadows checked to on---frame rates not too bad. Have 16 Gigs 1600 RAM, V-Ram shows a bit over 6 GBs. Aero is not turned off. My wife is a NASCAR nut and she saw the Vegas track with cars going round and round, so I have to pay a ransom to get my PC back... I was wondering how large the area is defined by the map? Does it go south to Grand Canyon or southwest to L.A.? Need to rig up a fast jet for a tour. Will be playing on Devilman's Mad Dog MP combat server with other guys online and see how it goes with lag and stutters. Will be upgrading to a SSD in a few days, game on one, Windows on another one---Samsung 850 Pro, yeah, it is overkill but was only $50 more.
  11. I have Windows 7 Pro since 2011 on my Alienware Aurora R3. I am happy enough with Win 7. Pros or cons concerning upgrading to the next tier?
  12. Colin stopped by a local airport on his way across the USA. This newspaper article was published June 28, 2015 : http://www.recordonline.com/article/20150627/NEWS/150629508 His blog: http://www.kr2worldtour.blogspot.com/
  13. (re: Message #124) Thanks. Worked nicely.
  14. Couple years ago I changed out my video card to my Alienware Aurora R3, a single GeForce GT 545, to a single ASUS GeForce GTX 680 with 4GB GDDR5 memory which I still use. The 680 was $500 then and did not want to spend more money at the time. I recently looked around for another identical new 680 to achieve SLI and they do not exist or what is available costs more than that. Some used models are available to ebay. Can I mate two dissimilar models to achieve SLI or do the two units need to be identical models? Am thinking mating my GTX 680 with a newer, later model, in SLI. Doable?
  15. I was to GITMO in 1977 and, then, knew the Navy base's layout pretty good. When I bring up anything like Google Earth to explore the base it does not show much detail. Imagine the military would like to keep their secrets relatively secret. Maybe exclusions have something to do with military restrictions.
  16. Yes, lately, seems like something changed since the beta when I was learning the Huey. Re-read the section in the latest edition (.pdf) full flight manual. Do the process EXACTLY as it is written. I use Page Up and Page Down keyboard keys for the throttle. You can fine tune the throttle moves with your mouse. Let the engine set right there at the low end throttle stop until it 1st revs up, then slowly advance the throttle open. I map the high and low engine turbine switches to adjust the engine as is necessary once it is up to takeoff rpm. That is what I did and now do, no more flame out the exhaust.

    Curves

I fly the Shark with no curves on all settings except, the cyclic "Y" axis I use some for weapons aiming. The Huey, I try doing the same, but I am still experimenting, especially with hover. The Mi-8, still is early setup, I have not flown her very much. My thoughts are, leave settings at default and just put in lots of hours flying the aircraft and develop a sensitive feel with my joystick, which is a CH Products Fighterstick. The Ka-50 is my main ride in DCS (DCS is all I fly, lately, a year or two) and I bet I have well over a thousand hours flying her in the sim, probably much more than that. The Huey probably 100 to 200 hours, if that. Setting Dead Zone above zero just plainly feels too sloppy for me and ditto using curves. I control my Fighterstick at its base, the large diameter circle. I have had the Fighterstick about 5 years and still find no need to use Dead Zone. I use the stock default cyclic trimmer in the Ka-50 where I make a move, click trimmer button, then hands off let it go to its zero point, like in BS1. I try to do same in Huey, but rudder trimmer is not checked in Special. I have never flown a real copter of any kind and in the sim I am self-taught, trial and error. I have nothing to base experience with as a comparison. And each of these birds are unique to themselves, just because I can fly the Shark pretty good has nothing to do with the Huey or Mi-8.
  18. Finally figured out what I was doing wrong. I have had the Huey since the early Beta when it was 1st issued, at least over a year ago. My engine startup sequence was my print-out of the old flight manual. I re-read the most current flight manual edition I have : Windows 7 = (OS (C:) ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Documentation) and the throttle pre-set information has changed. I now have no negative issue starting up the engine and taking off and flying her. I use the Page Up and Page Down keyboard keys for the throttle moves. I can fine-tune the throttle moves with my mouse' wheel. I was using Mad Dog's MP server, the mirror in New Hampshire, "Operation Hellraiser" mission.
  19. In Multiplayer "Operation Hellraiser" allows this for the copters, but not specifically pilot rescue. Use the \ Comms menu F10 It'S the old S-77th squad's New Hampshire, USA server -MDS-DEDICATED-USA EAST IP#: 66.31.70.151:10308
  20. (re: Message #5) This mod does a nice job getting the bugs off the front windscreen. Thanks for the link.
  21. In OpenBeta 1.5 latest patch, I found using Page Up / Page Down keys worked better at manual startup than using my mapped axis command using my CH Fighterstick's left wheel to control the Huey's collective twist grip throttle. I will see about remapping it may solve this issue. (later edit) I experimented some: ============== http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=153502
  22. Working on better understanding how this machine functions I came across this film: [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nm8iV_uiBsI[/ame] Also shown here, Message #10: ==================== http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1828271&highlight=mast+bumping#post1828271 If the first URL does not display properly, see "Reason for Editing" box below
  23. My OpenBeta had a patch update this morning concerning something to do with using bit torrent. Maybe something has changed.
  24. I realize the topic is about speed, but my MalwareBytes Anti_Malware repeatedly flagged the download as being malicious. I cancelled the installation and opted instead to download via http:// The offending IP# was 195.2.253.172 , location was Moscow. It took 10 minutes to download using Time-Warner cable internet. I have the fastest download speed they offer in my area. At least keep the alternate installation process as an option. I do not download anything using bit torrent. You guys are going to lose a fan! I truly love the sim, but I don't love it that much.
