(re: Message #1) This will truly be nice if this will work in 1.5 for the German WWII aircraft. P-51 already has NVG. Kind of weird, really, Germany invented NVG beginning of WWII. One historical NVG reference: ================== http://www.nightoptics.com/history-of-night-vision-technology/

[DCS World: BS2] Ricardo's Upgraded HD Cockpit Mods
DieHard replied to Devrim's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I read somewhere Devrim is updating his mods for 1.5 Open Beta. Quite an effort, just be patient, his work is free, cannot complain! I have a complete DCS World copy, separate directory, latest updates, not 1.5, I use just for modding. I intend to keep it just as it is and not 1.5 to play just for SP. I rather doubt the MP community will still be supported once 1.5, 2.0 and Edge get established. -

I think the issue is not to exceed max rpm in a dive. Throttle back in dive. I did a little reading of the DCS Bf-109 .pdf manual concerning engine management. I flew a bunch of sorties yesterday on the ACG WWII server without issue concerning blowing the engine. And I only use the MW-50 WEP in short bursts and watch my total time doing so and not exceed 1.4 ata when throttling back in cruise. It's a pain getting jumped watching out for engine management while eluding the bad guy on my tail.

DCS SweetFX settings base - share your settigns!

(re: Message #25) Thanks for this explanation. Just this sample, unlocked the mystery for me how to adjust this and the other settings in SweetFX ReShade. -
DCS SweetFX settings base - share your settigns!
DieHard replied to Falcon_S's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thanks for this. JSGME is the only way to do mods. This SweetFX ReShade utility makes it a lot easier finding the other guy (enemy) dogfighting in the WWII community online in MP. The Cartoon setting may sound silly, but sets up deeper contrast conditions for me. I use mostly 238thFalcon's setup, see Message #14, slightly embellished. -
Elevator Locks Up: I suspect due to compression at overspeed
DieHard replied to DieHard's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
P-38 was my 1st WWII bird I learned in sim-combat flying, I think it was the Warbirds sim. It was a dream to fly about in non-combat. Aces High II sim was where I encountered elevator lock up around 400 mph usually in a dive. Later models of P-38 had speed-brakes (glorified independent x-tra flap). I had read somewhere, other WWII prop planes encountered lock-up due to the sound barrier shock waves interfering with the controls hinge joint and in some cases opposite stick control was how the pilots recovered in a least ditch effort not to crash. Yo-Yo seems to be the only real aeronautical engineer here as to the last word about the real flight characteristics of such encounters. Yes, I too would like to see the P-38 in DCSW someday. -
Weird! Engine just quit, it seized. I had been flying 20 minutes or so during dogfighting ACG server 1.5 Beta. I had not taken any hits. Governor was on. Auto radiator was set. Only thing might have happened and I forgot to look, maybe coolant gauges were over-heated out of range. I was running wide open throttle with WEP engaged. I try to remember to lay back once in awhile. Any ideas what may have happened?

How do you hot restart after landing?
DieHard replied to rlarsen462's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Open Beta 1.5 Yep! Especially after a repair. Sometimes if the engine does restart and engine was running erratic before I did a repair, the engine still runs erratic after a repair and I cannot get enough oomph even to taxi. I do everything guys have listed this thread, except I did not try an external power source if engine refuses to start---Good Idea! -
Elevator Locks Up: I suspect due to compression at overspeed
DieHard replied to DieHard's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Try it again using the DoW server in MP DCSW 1.5 Open Beta. I don't know what mission he was running at the time. The server being setup for random failures has occured to me as an explanation. High speed dives on the ACG's WWII MP server, this same effect has not reoccurred. Have sustained dives at 700kph and pulled out satisfactory. At around 600kph controls start getting sluggish. I also establish a turn engine off and restart in the air for in-game play (probably never happened in real life). I only fly in full sim realism in DCS. -
(re: Message #2 above) I know a guy in a R&D military contract workshop uses a laser incorporated into a 3D-printer using custom made metal matrix to build up in metal application. Don't know if a Google search will find info about this subject as it is need-to-know. This subject is about 2 years ago. But might trickle down eventually to the hobby guy, though expensive. Sorry, commenting on this old post, I just read it today. Google does have info about this subject, also see Google Images: ========================================== https://www.google.com/search?q=3D+printer+laser+metal+matrix+us+navy&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 My CH Products: Fighterstick USB, Pro Throttle USB, and Pro Pedals USB still operate as the day I first opened the boxes, and that was 4 or 5 years ago. Don't know if their current consumer products are as good today as what I purchased. CH Products does have a separate industrial application line and I bet if the money is right, they would create custom industrial applications.

I remember everyone was having takeoff issues when P-51 was in the beta. With enough practice time and about 50 crashes each plane, they (all 3) are now fairly easy to takeoff and also land in. Now, if I could only decently consistently dogfight with positive results... LOL! Just finding another guy to dogfight in MP seems impossible for me to overcome; I usually wait to get bounced and go from there. {;^)

The P-51 in SP can be killed fairly easily, but that does depend on one's skill level with these birds and how you setup your controllers and your view out of the cockpit. MP is way overrated and I guess is why of all the people that supposedly fly DCSW, very few fly MP. Not everybody is an expert. Just hop in! Learn from your mistakes.

BS2 upgrade from Black Shark 1 key for 1.5?
DieHard replied to heli3's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Thanks -
Tyger used to have a really good MP mission up he created, where I had to kill targets down low below the enemy SAM radar using the tandem 6 rocket pods, individually fired one by one. I remember designating a hardpoint aiming point off the front dash as a reference point and creating a custom snapview and designating a button to bring it up when needed. Man I miss his old 74th squad.

 +1 Forgot about that panel back there.

BS2 upgrade from Black Shark 1 key for 1.5?
DieHard replied to heli3's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I currently am working fine with my BS1 and BS2 1.1.1.1 and all the patches since. Republic works fine for me in 1.5 . BUT When you purchased your BS2 full version newbie, http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/modules/dcs_black_shark_2/ when you installed it, what did you do with the older installation? Does the newbie just overwrite the old installation? OR Did you uninstall the older BS1 installation? And what is the process? How did you do it? I would be concerned left over files from BS1 might screw up the works of the new installation. -
Republic Campaign+BS 1 Upgraded to 2=A no go?
DieHard replied to Mrmaverick's topic in Black Shark 2 The Republic Campaign
If and when I ever build another computer with a new operating system in it, I will then buy the full newbie BS2 version. But for now, my upgrade version works just fine, so far... I wonder what 2.0 has for me and whether I will still be fine? -

Black Shark 2: Republic Campaign
DieHard replied to kontiuka's topic in Black Shark 2 The Republic Campaign
I would gladly pay another fee to get this to play in MP, to give the creator of this campaign motivation and incentive to mod it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 159th guys have interesting Ka-50 scenarios in MP that can be enjoyed by other Ka-50 pilots simultaneously. -
Black Shark 2: Republic Campaign
DieHard replied to kontiuka's topic in Black Shark 2 The Republic Campaign
I purchase all my new purchases in my DCS World vanilla edition through Module Manager, as I did the Republic Campaign. I also got the same message as you did when I tried to download the campaign within my vanilla. I downloaded same within my Open Beta Module Manager, entered my key manually, and good to go, no problem. It only will work in the 1.5 This new campaign is not supposed to currently work in Steam. -
Black Shark 2: Republic Campaign
DieHard replied to kontiuka's topic in Black Shark 2 The Republic Campaign
(re: Message #32 - above quote - http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=150908&page=4) I just purchased this Republic Campaign. It works for me as is. I purchased BS1, the English version on July 26, 2011 for $40 and BS2 Upgrade, version 1.1.1.1 on March 14, 2012 for $20 and I am up to date on all the patches since. As to my quote above, I had forgotten about the BS2 purchase. I can fly the Ka-50 using the Republic Campaign in Open Beta 1.5 with the latest patch. For less than $7, I figure why not see if the thing works? I noticed I get no Auto Pilot Route Mode to engage RTB in Airfield #1 push-button selection. I had to RTB in AP Director mode back to the FARP in the 1st sortie. I refuelled OK. Rotor wash really sounds tinny on my end. Give enough time after 1.5 final release somebody will create a better sound mod. I tend to not complain too much. I live with issues, and make the best of it, find a workaround. If anything is going on with negative issues, others within the DCSW community will chirp in and things will eventually change. I am not too up on the Ka-50 lately. Been flying the WWII birds and the last couple weeks has been only the Bf-109. If I am away from any of the aircraft too long, I start forgetting stuff, and I used to know the Shark inside out. I'll be age 64 in a few days and my lousy memory, one dedicated aircraft at a time is enough for me. Dog-fighting needs to be second nature, not making stupid mistakes by hesitating forgetting how something works. -
+1 I agree with your elevator trim observation, but... the 109 is supposedly accurately modeled. Makes me appreciate the guys that flew her and had to, not questioning orders. Nice thing about being in the military, you might not especially like the job, but you gotta' do it anyway if it happens to be your job to do.
-
I suspect elevator locks up and freezes solid at overspeed. The elevator trim still functions adequately enough to rtb. I did a search within the 109 group here. I only found one guy talking about it: Message #106 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=135100&page=11 Anybody else experience this? Thoughts?
