Its possible. I'm traveling till Sunday. I will see if I can get it restarted. EDIT: Just did some work over Teamviewer. Server should be running David's Fight Night missions now. I won't be participating tonight but I hope everyone enjoys it. I'll try to check on the server when I can.

That's a little personal. :megalol:

Thanks man, I've committed myself to mastering the DCS Mustang. I really don't plan on jumping between sims too much. Come by the server when you can! (1.2.5 right now) Thanks for the idea! I bet that'd look awesome. I had thought of using the ol dremel but then the painting idea came to mind. Still on the fence though. Haha I had also thought about producing them for others... but these took quite a bit of time and effort. I'd need to refine the process OR buy a 3D printer :) Thanks! It's been working great so far. Eventually I'll document it better to help out those looking to throw something together.

I built something cool while waiting for DCS:WW2
Merlin-27 replied to whatnot's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Maybe I'm overlooking something but how are the P-47's eight M2s almost twice as "powerful" as the P-51D's six M2s? EDIT: Nevermind, it factors amount of ammo carried. Cool. -
I'm glad you guys had fun. I was annoyed I couldn't be there. And yes, hopefully we can increase the participation next time. We had the map set up for "Allies only" but we may go back to Fog-of-war. However, if there are no AI units you will not see the enemy icons anyways. I hated the idea of rolling back but glad it's been much more stable. I'm sure you are not the only FFB guy that was dead in the water and I hope it gets resolved soon. It seems like a critical time to focus on stability. We will lose a lot of flyers if those crashes persist on the latest update.

Also, as another option to all the veterans and combat greenhorns out there I am going to host a WWII themed combat dogfight session every Saturday on my server. We have chosen to begin at 9pm Zulu. All are welcome no matter your proficiency with the P-51D. We are looking to establish a competitive but friendly environment that we can all enjoy going forward. The server will be administered and we will do our best to ensure things are kept fair and balanced. Please come by and check it out!

Guys, Just so you are aware. I went ahead and reverted my server and client side to 1.2.5 to accommodate the Friday Dogfight session. It performed drastically better and the server hasn't crashed in almost 20 hours. I plan on keeping it at 1.2.5 until we have a reasonable/stable alternative. The method to revert is quite simple if you choose to go that route. The instructions are found here... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=113199&page=3

Personally, like Gav said, my first rule is to open the coolant doors full. I generally go full RPM in combat with minor variations. The only time I ever encounter heat issues anymore is during slow climbing maneuvers where I didn't manage my energy correctly. If you keep your airspeed up you can go full military power for quite a long time with no problems.

For what it's worth, I run my server with a vanilla install of Windows 7 and 16 Gb RAM. While on 1.2.6 it was crashing on average about once every 2 hours. Yesterday, for a dogfight event I reverted to 1.2.5 at around 2:30pm EST. 18 hours later it is still up and running. I hate going backwards, but it's just very interesting.

Same.

Looks to be some kind of Multiplayer outage. Standing by...

I've seen it also a few times after 1.2.6. It's fairly rare but it's only happened after the update and I'm aware of at least 5 other people getting it. This along with the ATC problems and ME crashing every other time I use it.
-
That's a shame. Sorry man. Was it a known issue that they were changing FFB functionality? In the change log?
-
I have done a bunch of isolation to come up with some repeatable actions that cause a game crash every time now post-1.2.6 update. It appears as though if two aircraft (P-51D is the only aircraft type I've tried) go through start up, taxi and take off comms with ATC the client program will crash at a very specific point. If one player is taxiing and the other is awaiting takeoff clearance at the same airfield, once you make the request the other player taxiing will be told to hold. Then the client awaiting takeoff acknowledgment will crash. Every time. This fits what I was seeing with the AI... which crashed the server before I removed all AI aircraft from the mission. We tried many other scenarios with ATC but this seems to be the only one to crash the client. (This was only tried on my server so far)

Man that blows... sorry to hear it. No hope of disabling FFB until resolved?
-
Yes, xcom, the FPS was the only thing hindering an amazing session of dogfighting. We all hate to claim FPS hurt us... but it was realllly bad. Three of us watched you fly into the ground one time with a bunch of dust...then re-emerge behind me. Was the wildest thing! It reminded me of that movie "Tremors"! :megalol: Also, I was just flying on my server and encountered something very odd. The ATC changes seem to be possessed! I landed at Nalchik and I was trying to repair while I watched all four ground start Client aircraft spawn and start up with no one selecting them on the server. There was radio coms with the tower and they all taxied in succession. After the four P-51Ds taxied by me they all just disappeared. All AI units were previously removed from my mission. The ATC/airfield AI is bugged and it is creating havok. On the bright side... it never crashed.

Hey guys, I've been at work. When I get home I can post my mission file. It has crashed every time within the first 10 minutes. I'd be curious if it does the same on other machines EDIT: I just tried running my River Raiders 7 mission on the server two more times. I uninstalled slmod for this set of tests. DCS crashed with same error exactly 1 minute and 40 seconds after mission start both times. Same atc error code that I listed above. No coms were heard or initiated by the client. I suspect it is some interaction with the AI air units. Attached is my mission file... EDIT2: Re-made the mission without any AI aircraft. Does not appear to crash now. I flew to a friendly airbase and tried to initiate as much ATC traffic as possible with no game crash result. Convinced it's an AI atc issue with 1.2.6 in the original mission. River Raiders 7.miz

Anybody figure out how to change FOV in the new patch?
Merlin-27 replied to Spitfire2170's topic in View System
Yea I admit that was silly on my part and my fuse was quite short at that moment. Big repect for PeterP. I know he is a great asset to the community and he has offered up some really great help. (too early for beers?) Is the Kickstarter up yet? -
Xcom, you are right about the FW-190. I must have been tired and cranky last night. It would help for me to choose Germany instead of USA when I am looking to add the 190 to the map. My mistake. As far as the crashing, that was pretty consistent and I could not resolve it. I'm wondering if I need to redo my mission from scratch. I need to run off to work soon but I'll work on getting the crash log and other info. EDIT: This seems to be the re-occuring item in the crash log... ATC issue? # C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at EBA706EA 00:00000000 00000000 00000000 0000:00000000 EBA706EA 0023DED0 0000:00000000 ?getLandingClient@woATC@@QEAA_NAEBUClientData@@AEAULandingClient@@@Z()+3FA

DCS WWII: Europe 1944: Kickstarter Primer
Merlin-27 replied to luthier1's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
I'm willing to put down all the cash I'd spend on allowed computer expenditures for the next few months along with the money I saved not purchasing the Warthog setup (even though it was very tempting) and building my own usb throttle. I'm also telling everyone I know who might be remotely interested to pledge at least something to the effort. I believe in what you guys are proposing and I'll do my best to be patient as you make our dreams come true...aircraft by aircraft. -
The re-save didn't resolve it... still crashes within a few minutes. Trying a few other ideas. EDIT: I tried creating a mission from scratch. Interestingly, No FW-190D9 is listed in the drop-down for aircraft. As I said before there is a populated FW-190D9 folder in the /bazar/liveries/ directory. And in the module manager there exists a WWII AI Units item. Was that always there?
-
Thanks man, appreciate the response. When I get a chance I'll try to pull some data. I do know I saw some error saying the FW-190D9 module is needed. I'm guessing this is referring to the AI 190s in the mission... but I am not sure why that would have changed post update. EDIT: couldn't resist poking around. Has the FW-190D9 always been the only aircraft in /Bazar/Liveries/ that is written in all CAPS? Just seems odd.
