  1. To relist it for you, the Soviet Navy had 5 fixed-wing aircraft carriers throughout the course of its history - Kiev, Minsk, Novorossiysk and Admiral Gorshkov (Baku), all of them operational Kiev-class, and the sole functional Kuznetsov-class, Admiral Kuznetsov (Tbilisi) itself. So far only one Kiev remains operational, the Admiral Gorshkov, since it's been sold to India for conversion into a full-scale carrier INS Vikramaditya. I say full-scale because prior to conversion Kievs had a single short strip intended for Yak-38 Forger VSTOLs - with the conversion they'll be able to launch and arrest MiG-29Ks. The rest of the old Kievs was turrets and missile launchers. The one unlisted fixed-wing carrier is the Varyag (Riga), the sister ship of the Kuznetsov, has been sold to the Chinese while still a skeleton.
  2. He mentioned it twice, in the topic and the OP. You're the one who left the impression you didn't know the distinction. Pardon me for defending a friend and a clanmate. I won't do it anymore. I swear.
  3. And that alone is reason for you to keep arguing with him, and posting irreleveant photos? I beg to differ. Let's get a couple things straight. The Kiev isn't the Kuznetsov. They only share the role, not the class. B_H is working on a skin for the actual Kiev model currently WIP by pirahna_dl for use in LOMAC - ergo, he's making the model as well because a model is as good as non-existent without a template and/or skin, and I'm pretty sure the two of them are going to make it work, even with dropping a few elements - personally, I'd even drop the Carl Vinson if it'd mean the mod creates a virtual red-on-red conflict. If you'd like to fight about semantics of what he said, you picked the wrong guy to do it because B_H isn't a native speaker. If you'd like to fight about the futility of the mod, sit back and don't hinder the mini-team's work, because they're at least trying to do something. B_H, I'm sorry I can't provide photos of the Kiev yet, but I'll start looking.
  4. Where's the drool emoticon? This skin is worthy of one!
  5. Depends on the ECM you use. The regular ECM on the F-15, Su-27/33 (with pods), MiG-29S, and Su-25 (also with pods) won't protect you - however, the thermal jammer on the Su-25Ts tail might. Edit. Got beaten to it. *grumble... grumble... S-300... grumble*
  6. Yes, 1024^2 is quite enough for most skins. As I suggested, youmight want to try resizing the skins yourself and moving them to \Bazar\TempTextures manually. I run most of my skins that way and everything works flawlessly.
  7. In my case it hurt the FPS and degraded my quality because my graphics card can't properly handle textures as large as 2048^2 - I'd get dropped polygons. However, I manually resized the images to 1024^2, retained a still-high level of detail (using smart resize in PaintShopPro), and I didn't get any problems. Of course, your mileage may vary, but generally, the more detailed the texture, the bigger the memory usage - and the bigger the FPS hit. HTH.
  8. You've got a real knack for post-effects. Nice work!
  9. Awesome work.
  10. I propose "Gunsmoke Grey". Awesome skin. Can't wait for the public release.
  11. I was kind enough not to be assumptuous about your nationality, so the least you could do is to stop putting words in my mouth. I've seen people of many nationalities who didn't know a damn thing about their topic, and I've seen as many who knew what they're talking about - but then again, they were divided into people who give their facts as "status quo" or provide some links confirming them. I said "to a casual observer". That also includes anyone who's posting facts that are contended, like the whole D/L band issue. Let's see some links, some snippets, screenshots, photos, anything. Surely, there has to be some place on the net where it's explained or at least one source of information that claims D/L are exactly the same - or not.
  12. I'm no real-world engineer. I'm just an electrotechnics/compsci student with a minor aspect in physics. The NATO D-Band is a 1GHz-2GHz portion of the spectrum. L-Band is either 0.5GHz-~1.5GHz by IEEE definition or 40GHz-60GHz in case of the NATO L-Band. Ergo, the NATO L-Band you suggested is definitely not equal to the NATO D-Band. If they do share the frequency spectrum (in case of the IE3-L and the NATO-D), you've still got a margin of -0.5GHz downwards for the IE3-L and +0.5 for NATO-D. Thought that needed clarification. Either way, jeez. You people are bickering about the shape of the antenna on a model. Grab photos, post them here, highlight and circle out the antenna and then discuss, right now, to a casual observer, you're pulling facts and factoids from where the sun don't shine. S~.
  13. Wonder how much my poor R9600XT would benefit from this. Actually, now that I think of it, the 6.7 to 6.8 did give me quite an FPS boost even in Flaming Cliffs. So, who knows.
  14. Especially the MiG-31. For some reason, the MiG-25 skin is awesome for both variants, yet the MiG-31 one is about the level of the E-2 skin (which, prior to the mod someone recently posted, was 256x256, if even that. *shudder*)
  15. The game deserves a Transformers Pack. Great work so far, Colt40Five!
  16. Turncoats, all of you. Traded in the 3rd dimension for a hot rod with spinners and 200+BHP engines. :P Seriously, though, why not? I don't think I've ever played anything more realistic than Juiced (which is still pretty much an arcade), but if it floats your boats, rock on, people. Good to see you're not bolted to one genre.
  17. Wow. This is *extremely handy*. Once again, great thing to have. Rep inbound!
  18. I was trying to point to the general generation of the monitor I have. Some of us are on a students' paycheck bracket and can't afford anything newer, you know. :P
  19. It's a 17" screen with only TCO99 compliance. It'd burn out.
  20. 1024x768. ...what? It's the only way I can get 85Hz.
  21. I'm definitely getting this one. Cheers, Ironhand.
  22. For those long russian winters. :megalol: You've got a bit of terminology mixed up, sir. This is a pilot, this is a pitot. Any questions? :D
  23. Sigged for truth.
  24. I'm pretty sure I had an image somewhere depicting an internal revolver-launcher for medium range missiles, with the weapons bay right between the wheel compartments.
  25. Why am I the last to know you're working on this? Reputation inbound!
