  1. Current DCS mechanics for triggering an A2A launch warning is "STT"+"M-Link" (or whatever that link is called ).
  2. Every time the community tries to push for missing features (modes, clickable cockpit, performance...) of FC3 planes we are met with an ultimate response "we consider it feature complete" and that's pretty much it. Would it make sense for ED to release these planes as open-source, so that the community can continue the development of these platforms and then all ED would need to do is verify the changes and incorporate them into the updates? This would improve FC3 planes and make us "dinosaurs" happy without any additional effort from Eagle Dynamics.
  3. I guess it receives updates from the launch platform before it goes active, which triggers the RWR. I always wondered, how on earth did the opposide side get their hands on these signals, so they can actually recognise them and trigger a launch warning?
  4. Highly controversal topic, I would say. As someone previosly mentioned, we already have the Ka-50 and Mi-24. Also real manuals were used to tune the MiG-29 performance. I wonder what was used to do the same for the Su-27.
  5. From what I can see he was blinking and I guess at this high G that's pretty much all what you can do. In DCS however, one is free to flip what ever swtiches in the cockpit and move the pilot's head efortlesly while sustaining high G forces.
  6. Ah I see, ok even better. Thanks for the explanation.
  7. Ok, fair enough, so what is the R1 here? To my knowledge R1 is exactly the same as Rmax, but I am ready to be corrected.
  8. Nope, the target appears to be some 81km away, but the Rmax is around 90km (upper edge of that dynamic range box).
  9. Just saw this video and it looks like R-77-1 has a range of around 90km!? The video shows Su-35's HUD at the moment of firing an R-77 ARH missile. Launching aircraft is doing M0.95 at around 12.9km altitude. Strangely, I can't seem to tell speed and height of the target. It looks like it might be also lofting, but unless someone figures out the target's altitude this is just speculation.
  10. In this USSR documentary the max altitude is 23,5km. Yet the same video lists KUB's missiles at max engagement altitude of 7km.
  11. Real MiG is quite different from the one in FC3. Sure the model is there but systems like radar, EOS, RWR, navigation, data-link, laser range finder, IFF and some others are quite complex and are not neccessarily modeled correctly at the moment.
  12. Or they fail to detach. Not what's happening now , which is I presume nothing.
  13. Your mention of the drop-tanks got me thinking: in the manual max Mach number for jettisoning them M1.5 - I wonder if that's modeled in DCS or not?
  14. Might be a stupid question, but I was wondering: would a typical fighter radar be able to pick up any trace of missiles being launched at it? Or would those "targets" be to small to be registered? I know that in their interview, a crew of S-125 Neva/Pechora battery mentioned that they could actually see on their radar screen parts of the airplane they just hit, separating away so it got me thinking in this direction.
  15. I see where you are coming from, but the trimming out an airplane should make it fairly stable. In DCS, however, roll can't be trimmed to anything nearly a stable condition. The aircraft just wants to roll to one side or the other.
  16. IRL Flanker and Fulcrum, have a rotating selector for radar antenna elevation with discrete positions and a rotating drum on the throttle for expected target distance, yet in DCS every time the radar is switched off these settings get reset to their default values - 0 elevation and 10km distance, respectfully. Since Soviet RWRs don't really show type of threat it is polite to switch off your radar when going defensive, so your team mates don't freak out as they suddenly see a full SPO in front of their nose. Unfortunately all your previous radar settings are gone now Could we please fix this, so that it does not happen any more? Radar Elevation knob for the Fulcrum:
  17. It's amazing how stubborn a human brain can be when unespected things happen. I can't tell you the number of times I forced the launch authorisation only to realize that I had fired on a friendly. Engine starts with the throttle not at idle also give me trouble.
  18. Try trimming along the roll axis an aircraft with asymetric loadout -it's impossible. What ever you do, it will keep on rolling to one side or the other.
  19. Selling used X-56 Rhino HOTAS. In good working condition. Only one spring included. I accept returns at buyer's expense. Shipping to EU/UK/EEA only. I need to get rid of it as the VKB NXT is on the way to replace it. Send me your offers.
  20. Please correct me if I am wrong, but what does AIM-9 have to do with the AIM-120 performance. Am I missing something here?
  21. I was wondering why the 29 had 3 buttons for setting flaps.
  22. 25 pages on the topic and counting. I would say a lot of people, including me, would love to have a FF Fulcrum module.
