  1. This size difference is insignificant because it to small to have major impact in end result which is depend on lens magnification as well. This is like difference between 5.2 and 5.5" displays. Difference is in margin of error and could be eliminated with just few mm closer or away from lens. It is like debating which GPU is better based on benchmark over 140 FPS with difference of just few frames. VR is based on subjective experience so ve could have 3 different opinion based on same product from 3 different user. So everything I mention is based on calculations and tech specs. I'm repeating for who knows much time this video is not representing whot you will experiance when you put it on your head but showing exact difference under same condition filming with camera. Also read description of the video where is everything explained in more details. About monitors it is also depend on PPI and that is depend not just on size but on technologies too and it is not necessary larger size more PPI. It is Pixel per Inch and Inch is always the same size. Pimax prove that that 800 PPI is edge for noticeable SDE on displays 5 to 5.5" size. In this category come Vive and CV1 even they have around 3" displays but it is 2 of them and when you combine them in one it is in that size category.
  2. For me this is end of this pointles discusion with you about opinion. I mention the facts, row calculation based on technical specs not opinion just to people can figured out what to expect. This is not my opinion and don't want to affect on your believe. In my statemant there is nothing to agree or disagree it is just simple mat where numbers is always exact. To the readers is to trust or not and I don't care. I just answer on question with simple numbers not opinion.
  3. First of all read all then comment. All this video is filmed under same condition, same 3D game and same scene for all VR so difference and 2D scam you are mention are ridiculous. Diference you see there is because 800 PPI Pimax4K display got. That is physical prove what I'm talking about and that is the facts proven by multiple occasion and testes you like it or not. And repeating read all than comment, I was mention VR is more subjective impression af multiple factors and every individual experience it on different way. There is no perfect VR out there yet and all of them are trade of and it is depend on your individual preferences what you expect from VR. Some people can't stand SDE and will prefer Pimax, some not and prefere refresh rate and vivid colors and will prefer CV1 other trade all of this for room scaling experience and will prefere Vive and that's simply that. I was not favoring any VR just was referring o to Pixel density and SDE based on facts and tech specs and it is not representing my personal subjective opinion like yours.
  4. PPI is only spec you can connect to the SDE and on displays it is exactly means this space you are talking about. Size of the display is matter to but on all this VR on market sizes are similar and minor differences exept for this windows MR (Lenovo, Acer, HP ...). They got beter PPD and PPI but smaler size. Here we come to one more significant factor, Lens magnification. As all of those VR using in fact standard lenses so got priority same magnification factor whot in the end because smaller display on Windows MR create lower FOV. So for precise calculation to predict SDE you neet to take all 3 factor PPI, size and magnification. Problem is I never see that someone mention magnification of the lenses in VR specs, we got only type of the lenses.
  5. Actually Rift is using old Hack people used on DK1 and DK2 puting plastic foil on display. This bluring edges and reducing SDE but you can check on this videos when you comparing Vive and CV1, Vive have more sharper picture and CV1 edges is more melted with background. That is why on CV1 is harder to read instruments and spot targets in distance then on Vive. Reduced SDE give you clarity on CV1 but only on larger objects but on smaller objects, small detailes or small details in distance give you effect like you are shortsighted. And that is the major con on CV1. So all this is sort of trade of like medication heal one problem but cosign other problem. My friend sell his CV1 and got Vive now and he do this just because he more like to deal with SDE for sharper picture and spoting targets in distance (His words) and he is satisfied. Personally I think the difference is to small to justifies cost for that and with 400$ when you calculate all pro and cons CV1 is still bestbuy for now. Odysey and Pimax8KX have to prove them self in practical use first but the specks are promising but success on the market is not depending only on specs. Should be specs per $.
  6. SDE or ScreenDoor Effect is actually, I will call it, physical resolution of display and it is masured by PPI Pixel Per Inch in diagonal. To get picture I will not mention you PPI for VR we previously compared with PD and will give you previev in some video comparison filmed true lens of ich VR. Have in mind that Maybe your impresion of SDE on some of those VR is completely different because it is practically impossible to film your personal impression but this is filmed by same camera under same condition and represent exact difference in SDE technically. Also there is no Odessey here and we don't know exact PPI for it but compared to similar Samsung product we could expect PPI around 550 + or - by 10 so probably will be near Deepoon E3 with 2560x1440 530PPI on one of the videos. DK2 - 380 PPI CV1 - 460 PPI Vive - 460 PPI Deepoon E3 - 540 PPI Pimax4K - 800 PPI
  7. Actually it is little bit diferent. Diagonally is just mesuring for screen size and size of the screen depending om lens magnification factor but that is the diferent storry. All this aspect effecting on final impresion what is actually combine this aspect after all. Key factor for pixel density is PPD and that is a short for Pixel Per Degree and this aspect not effecting on SDE at all and don't mix it with PPI (Pixel Per Inch) which is representing physical display resolution which is actually SDE. PPD is measuring number of pixels in one degree vertically or horizontally. In this case we will calculating horizontally. So formula will be horizontal res per eye / FOV give you approximate PPD value. It is hard to get exactly value because VR is based on subjective impresion and every individual user have different personal measures like IPD, head size or eye dioptry. But if you use same principals you will got precise differences to compare it by PPD. So lets calculate now. In all this VR 110 FOV is max but realistic is smaller so we will use for calculating round 100 value. DK2/PSVR 960/100=9,6 PPD - 89% (-11% to CV1/Vive) CV1/Vive 1080/100=10,8 PPD - 100% (referent point for comparison) Pimax4K 1280/100=12,8 PPD - 119% (+19% to CV1/Vive) Odyssey 1440/100=14,4 PPD - 133% (+ 33% to CV1/Vive) Pimax8KX 3840/150=25,6 PPD - 237% (+137% to CV1/Vive) So this is it with tech spec for comparison pixel density. I take CV1/Vive as referenc point for comparison so CV1 PD is value 0 and all other is compared to CV1/Vive. Also I add separately future Pimax8KX with 4K per eye and 200FOV you notice I use 150 to divide not 100 that is because of this basic 100 + 50 per eye (50left+50right+100basic=200FOV) for expanded FOV. Just for your information human eye got 60PPD and aimed PPD for VR to reach close to monitor 1080p is 30PPD. So Pixel density you should compare that way and you can get picture what you can expect from which VR but just in Pixel density area not in complete impresion because VR is combining all this aspects together PPD, SDE, refresh rate roomscale tracking or positional and directional tracking.
  8. When I was announced that few months ago people didn't believe. 400$ is realistic price which was promised before CV1 release but Zuckerberg break it. With this price Rift is still in the game with new and more, I will not use advanced but definitely more promising models. This 400$ is good deal realistic price which balansing performance with price so that way Rift could stay bestbuy option.
  9. Did you read anything about Pimax 8K at all? As I know this is not just resolution. Is it Vive lighthouse which is used in Pimax 8K bad tracking solution? This tracking system was only real advantage CV1 have even vs Pimax4K model. Pimax8K is better in any aspect than CV1 even now with present prototype which is not even close to final product. This prototype is just to prove concept and better represent potential of 8K model to raise Kickstarter found what was full success.
  10. Leapmotion is 3D 6DoF mouse in essence. Trackball is 2D same way as mouse and is is suitable for 2D DCS mouse cursor tracking. That is why it is working but just working. You need to meke lot of unnatural move and kombine with unnaturale move of your head to work and that is point. With Leapmotion you need to compensate your hand movement and head movement to make it work with that 2D 3D conflict. With mouse/trackball just head movement and that is much more easier mostly because we get use to it from the past. This problem is existing even with headtracking not just in VR. Leapmotion is working perfectly in other games even in old FSX whit just minor adaptation. Same prob existing even on expansive motion gloves. So is it than Leapmotion problem or ED? Same bullshit we got from ED in other issue so we could not say that SLI/CF for example is not working and blame Nvidia or AMD for it. We could not blame Intel or AMD because DCS using only one core properly especially today when number of cores rise rapidly. And how long this technology exist? With every new version of DCS World demand for hardware resources is higher and higher and raising faster than technology progress and only because of the fact that ED din't do nothing to implementing new technologies in game. Multy core CPU are standard for 20 years now and in this 20 years they didn't do nothing about it. Similar story is with SLI/CF only it is not 20 years but definitely not less than 10. We are in 21st century now for 17 years it is time for ED to step in same age as we are. Stop living in the past.
  11. It is not the problem with HOT ASS. Problem is you got 6DoF cockpit which interact only with your head movement but not with hands as well. So interaction wit instruments is still 2D and that will give real kick in realistic interaction. This way it is just half job done. ED could get easy without it in past but today it is must have. This could reflecting bad on future of DCS. This days 3d 6DoF interaction within cockpit should be priority number one.
  12. Unfortunately DCS got some problem because mixing 2D mouse cursor inside 3D 6DoF cockpit. Because of this conflict Leapmotion not work correctly in DCS. But that is the only ED issue not othervise and only ED can fix it with implementing 3D 6DoF mouse cursor positioning inside 3D 6DoF cockpit.
  13. I'm hoping you will be finally satisfied.
  14. You don't have to wait much. Point is for christmas will be again CV1 for 400$ or less. Also there is Samsung releasing new VR with segnificant display improvemants comparing to CV1 especially fo your A and B questions. As well we will have first proper reviews for Pimax8K but this is completly new experiance in VR but I will wait full 8KX to be released and that will be in the end of 2018 if everything goes well.
  15. Snacko. Everything depend on ED who didn't fully adopt VR to DCS. Your solution will be mouse cursore who interact with cockpit in real 3D. Today is 2D cursor in 3D cockpit. With 50$ Leapmotion and real 3D mouse you will be able to use your hands in natural way inside the game and interact with every single button inside cockpit just way it is in real world. This is major problem for long time and ED didn't do nothing about it for more than 10 years when this 2D/3D conflict appire in 6DoF cockpit. ED this is major issue and you should start to do something about it finally.
  16. Everything what I say is based on tech specs which is cruel facts someone like it or not. This part is not my opinion but what I say after it is. In the end Rift is outdated already but still valuable VR to some point to keep it alive Oculus drop the price in half in last year. That fact talking to its self.
  17. Are you kidding or you try to convince your self because you got Rift? Difference is 40% more pixels for Odyssey. it is 10vs14 PPD if you know at all what that mean. In DCS this could mean life and death advantage in MP Dogfight. This is difference to bee or not to be competitive in MP, or easy vs hard to read instruments or spotting targets in distance especially for WWII war birds. In all of this include lower SDE. All of you know how big difference is between DK2 and CV1 and this diferenc in specification is lower than specification difference between Odissey vs CV1. So how this is not that much difference, and I even didn't mention better AMOLED display differences? PPD 40% better (higher ress and sharper image) PPI 25% better (smaller SDE) Also we don't know some other possible advantages which could be raise up but no one mention it yet. That is HDMI2.0 and DP 1.4 in combination with AMOLED display could give you full RGB display with chroma 4:4:4 on 90Hz and this is one more plus for better picture but I can0t confirm it yet based on available specs. This is potentially Rift killer, Vive still got advantage based on Lighthouse tracking but it come for the price. Rift is dead or they have to keep this summer sale 400$ price as regular to be competitive what is good for us consumers what ever VR you chose.
  18. There is nowhere to find what PPI got this new Samsung Display. PPI is showing what SDE could be as an issue. About resolution should be significantly better and AMOLED display should provide more vivid and colorful picture. In DCS this is one of the most important feature which is reflecting on reading instruments and spoting targets. About dis test on Youtube they didn't say nothing at all and I don't take this test seriously because they are not based on some technical facts and more details about it. It is based on individual superficial impression without focus on technical pro and con. I'm waiting some more serious observation especially from DCS player perspective. But according to specs Samsung should have around 14PPD (Pixel Per Degree). For your information CV1 got around 10 what is 40% better. It is even 16% better than Pimax4K 12PPD. So should be step forward comparing to CV1. We will see soon.
  19. 680$ for what? (490$ pair of gloves and 190$ motion sensor) Same level of experience you get with Leapmotion for just 50$. Come on who is crazy here? Both have same problem and it is DCS 2D mouse in side 3D cockpit and this is only DCS issue not the gloves. It is useless and way way expensive.
  20. You are completely right. Like you read my mind. I was wrighting here before and some people was making fool of me but right now everything I was clam today's is true and proven. Next year we will have already next gen VR with 90Hz 4K display per eye and without SDE on 200° FOV and eye tracking. That is the future of VR just right the corner fith full realistic imersion where we will remember Rift as screendoor tube experience not full peripheral vision experience. Not just that with some new tech implementation this will work on higher resolution without need for super uber GPU. Vive could go in similar direction because they support third part upgrades and could do something similar same as it was with Rift. Oculus anonuced they future product will be more like today's AiO VR more sutable for movies and Facebook users what is in my opinion step backward in VR.
  21. In practice any solution is working almost good as CV1 or Vive. In practice when system is good setup and optimized you will hardly notice difference. About kinect and PS3Eye solution there is some differences pro and cons but in general end result is similar. Kinect work is even with cheaper kinect 360 as well only it is more demanding on CPU resources and hand tracking but good for positional tracking. Kinect is working on 30Hz PS3Eye on 60Hz on high res or 120Hz on low res. Kinsct don't need any addition on your head for tracking PSmove service need light source for positional tracking. (that light in pingpong ball on top of your head. PSmoveservice could as well add PSmove controllers for full VR experience in some other titles than DCS. Kinect is tracking your hands as controlers but how good solution this is vs real controlers with buttons I can't tell you. So this is major differences between two solutions. What ever you will decide it is depend on your personal preferences. What ever you decide it is good alternative and improvement for VR experience with Pimax and comparable with Rift/Vive.
  22. It is prowen working and it is almost free compared with NOLO and with same performance.
  23. Here some more. If you cant figure out from this then never will be.
  24. Guys you are out of any movemant in VR. There is simple and cheep solution for 6DoF using DIY LED light inside pingpong ball placed on stripe on top of the head for positional tracking with PSMoveservice. Also there is for 8.5$ app called Driver4VR which is actually make it easy to install and working perfect. This app is also have support for kinect which is working well as well and there is no need to put anything on you. It is tracking your body movement. So you just have to try it and it is better than trackIR because 1:1 movemant just like Rift/Vive have. Here some more interesting videos to prove concept and hoe it is done.
