  1. Yes this confused me as well, I have only heard mention of the bulged door on the bomber variant! Apparently it was first seen on modified B Mk IV.
  2. I don't see why it shouldn't be supported just because it is Nvidia only, they put the resources into developing it and I imagine the vast majority of DCS players use a Nvidia Card. Quite simply it is a non issue, if you don't like a companies antics don't buy there products.
  3. Actually De Havilland and the Mossie are famous for the opposite reason, he only had one big supporter in the government at the time Wilfred Freeman. The Mossie actual had the nickname "Freeman's Folly" due to his ardent support of the aircraft. De Havilland paid for the development of the Mosquito from his own wallet as he is was laughed out the room for suggesting a wooden aircraft with no armament other than it's speed.
  4. The irony here is that the material used to build the spitfire wasn't readily available in the UK, it just wasn't deemed a wartime material which had benefits when it came to procuring.
  5. Just stumbled upon this youtube video that perfectly shows the issue.
  6. This one, it's lacking in much depth but they do have some interesting interviews with veterans. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mosquito-Typhoon-Tempest-at-War/dp/1856482278
  7. I also suggest this youtuber video, Gregs videos are fantastic and he gives a nice overview of the Mosquito from assumptions made by the American aerospace industry at the time.
  8. I would just like to highlight that if you look for the LH engine it is completely missing, from a book I have it indicates that the LH engine and RH tip were shot off by flak and they made it back home. That should tell you all you need to know about the durability of the Mossie! Apparently they had intended to fix the aircraft, upon inspection the true extent of the damage became clear and the airframe was scrapped. "Mosquito MM401 Damaged by flak attacking V-1 site in Pas de Calais 21.2.1944 W/o on landing after only one month's service. Severely damaged MM401 'SB-J', of 464 Sqn RAAF based at Hunsdon, Hertfordshire, parked at RAF Friston Emergency Landing Ground, Sussex. The aircraft, flown by S/Ldr Oxlade and F/Lt Shanks, was hit by anti-aircraft fire while attacking a flying-bomb site in the Pas de Calais on 21 February 1944. The port engine was shattered, and the port undercarriage and most of the outer starboard wing was blown off. Despite the damage, the crew flew MM401 back and crash-landed safely at Friston ELG. The port engine nacelle is seen here supported by a caterpillar tractor to enable the aircraft to be moved off the runway. The aircraft was initially categorised as repairable (Category B), but this was changed to a write-off (Category E) after the full extent of the damage became clear. Crew: S/Ldr (Aus400733) Arthur Geoffrey OXLADE (pilot) RAAF - Ok F/Lt (Aus400839) Donald Mckenzie SHANKS (nav.) RAAF - Ok" https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/137741 I have actually posted about this particular incident before, here is the view from the LH. Note the contradiction between the book and the aviation safety website, one state damage from a Nightfighter and Flak respectively. I have no idea which is correct.
  9. Big thank you to the eagle eyed Tricky on the ED Discord who spotted the following... Merlin 25s confirmed
  10. Yeah I would like to know more about this as well, looks fantastic
  11. If we are getting an early FB VI then this leads to an even more important question, what engines will this Mossie use the Mk 21, 23 as used on the early examples or Mk 25 as used on the vast majority.
  12. Would be nice to get some clarification on this as the news article specifically mentions T1154 and R155 which were only on earlier versions of the aircraft? "DCS: Mosquito FB Mk.VI is progressing well. The cockpit is near final; we are adding details to instrumentation colour, reflections, and colour balance. Work on the radio transmitter T1154.B and receiver R1155 devices, as well as radio communications for VoiceChat, is also approaching completion. The external model is almost finished, and texturing is near completion. To keep you informed on the development process, we have taken the opportunity to prepare some In Development screenshots for you."
  13. Fingers crossed for a video showing that new external model
  14. For reference your system should run faster than mine (specs in sig) and I am using 70% SS and getting ~45 fps. That said however I do have 32GB RAM and if you are loading a large mission then the extra ram is highly recommended. Which mission are you running, I will check out how it runs on my end.
  15. I ask because last night I started having issues and it was due to the WMR Settings for Repojection, Enabled was overriding steamvr ignoring my steamvr settings and then when I switched it to auto in the WMR settings a day later I suddenly started getting stutters and steamvr crashes. I have now set it to use steamvr and everything feels much smoother again. Worth a try. For clarification I am talking about these settings within steamvr...
  16. Out of interest in the Steamvr internal WMR settings what do you have set for repojection?
  17. Valid points raised, thanks chaps. Regarding GPU I don't expect to see them in stock until perhaps the end of the year and even then I agree the price will still be far higher than what was original listed. I recall watching a video a few months back that suggested that at least the first generation of DDR5 capable Motherboards would also support DDR4 as stocks and general uptake might be low.
  18. The column still rotates around the elevator push point rather than the bottom axis in 2.7....
  19. Hi Chaps, I couldn't find a discussion on this so I thought I would start one. I was looking to build a new PC this year (5600 with a 3080/6900) however due to the obvious this has been nigh on impossible, I for one don't want to support scalpers. With the crackdown of crypto in China things are looking up for GPU stocks. However between my planned new build I have upgraded my current PC with 32GB RAM and a 2TB NVME SSD. With these upgrades I can now run my Reverb G2 at 70% SS in SteamVR and achieve a reasonable performance of 40-45fps (Frametimes GPU ~19ms and CPU ~15ms TBC). I am quite happy with these results for the moment and with Vulkan implementation approaching I am left to dwell on what to do. Namely upgrade to current gen or hold off for Zen 4 and Alder Lake both of which will use the new DDR5. So the question is what if any performance increase will DDR5 bring, from the reading I have done I get the impression there could be a performance increase however it is up to the software engineers to take advantage of this rather than a base increase in performance? The other factor is of course price, new tech = high price. I could upgrade now and in 5 years when I come to upgrade DDR5 should be more common and cheaper (or knowing my luck DDR6 RAM will be just about to drop). Please correct me if my current understanding is off. Regards, Krupi
  20. I notice no one has mentioned the missing nuts running along the bottom of the fwd canopy Has bugged me for a while, now which rivet was I on...
  21. I have yet to get this to work on my system. Please respond here if you are able to report a performance increase.
  22. Has anyone tried this out in DCS yet? https://github.com/fholger/openvr_fsr
  23. Sorry if this has been asked already but can this be used on multiplayer or does it cause issues?
  24. I still think it a shame that DLSS isn't implemented, fingers crossed for FSR
  25. I was sure they would give us an update today... They never release modules close together so I guess we will have to wait well into Q3, but they could still give us some updates... ridiculous.
