  1. Correct me if I am wrong but I was under the impression that the night fighters were under orders not to fly into Europe, instead they were used to defend against enemy intruders. The rational behind this being not wanting the radar to fall into enemy hands. Some NFII were used as intruders but had the radar removed. The FB.VI did most of the night intruder missions and obviously without radar.
  2. Could we have a more detailed response to this, rather than a "correct as is" title change?
  3. That is awesome
  4. http://www.spitfirespares.com/Mosquito flying restoration.html Pretty much everything is wood apart from the engine mounts.
  5. Have you opened the window? To get the comms menu up you first need to open the portside window. As far as I am aware this is the first module that requires this step.
  6. Agreed, I have tried to use VR controls in for HOTAS in No Man's Sky... So while you can use your control sticks like this in that game I wouldn't recommend it in DCS.
  7. I am going to be first in line for your campaign. Do you have an eta?
  8. This is excellent stuff. Can you set the altitude? I assume they would be told this at the briefing. Could this be used in multiplayer with multiple cat and mouse stations for different targets using a different frequency? My current understanding is that with the advert of the Gee, Oboe and Gee were used together to increase the range but for distant targets you had to be at a higher altitude to pick up the signal.
  9. I know it doesn't necessarily mean anything as the application could be entirely different but the Spitfire also uses a Pneumatic system and doesn't suffer from this issue. Actually scrub that... The Mossie manual states it uses a Electro-Pneumatic system?
  10. Yes, sorry didn't explain myself correctly. That is absolutely fantastic news, do you hear the dots and dashes?
  11. Trying to understand the capabilities of the system myself. Can this be used to create the Oboe navigation system. I.e. Can this be used to direct you on to a target? The image above shows the basic principle. The pilot and navigator would hear either dots or dashes telling them if they were on the correct radius.
  12. Agreed
  13. Again this is an AI issue, it doesn't take into account that the aircraft it is flying against can beat it in loops... Same thing happens with the Anton against the Spit.
  14. Trust me a human player would not be able to do this, the AI is well known to far exceed the capability of the aircraft, this is true for all the WWII aircraft. The good news is that they are working on the AI.
  15. Thanks for the tip Reflected, also great video
  16. Run through your procedure step by step. Alternatively watch this video...
  17. It should be the Mk IX is essentially a reengined Mk V which in turn was essentially a reengined Mk 1. This is one reason why the Spitfires wings are weak, they had redesigned the wing structure with the Mk VII but it was still in development and there was concern of how long it would take to get into the production chain. A Spitfire Mk I, Mk V, Mk IX and finally a MkXIV would cover 1940 to 1945 and you could ignore the variants in between.
  18. I do kind of agree, at least in terms of a set of starting aircraft, unfortunately that horse has already bolted! So now we NEED multiple versions of the same aircraft. The other side of it is that aircraft design was never truly on par, designers were always improving the aircraft to meet the latest opposition and with your scenario I would not enjoy flying a 109G, not even a K4... a Tempest and a Spitfire MkXIV, no where to hide nowhere to run. This is why you need a set of versions, because depending on what time you are looking at certain aircraft were very rare... such as the Tempest and Mk XIV.
  19. I was thinking this, but then the books I have read have been cantered around the Bomber Version which had the Merlin 71 and therefore didn't suffer from this issue (I have just started on an Autobiography of a Merlin 25 Navigator so I am intrigued to read his thoughts on this!). Also these aircraft were never flown at altitude and so the need to dive was non existent. I think that it is just a bit too temperamental at present, lets see what it is like when the cut out is delayed to 3-4 seconds.
  20. I was taken aback by this myself, as WarbossPetross has already stated a bit of research shows that the Bendix Anti G Carbs were not on the Merlin 25. Now I knew that they came later in 1943 however I had assumed that they were retrospectively fitted to older Merlins that were still in production... clearly however that does not appear to be the case. That said we have had confirmation on Discord that the current starvation starts after 1-1.5 seconds, this will be increased to 3-4 seconds.
  21. Sorry didn't mean to make it sound like you were, I was just pointing out that there wasn't really much variety in reality. Hopefully they will add more.
  22. To be honest if you are talking about RAF skins, you will be lucky to get a third variant. 1. Costal Command Scheme DONE 2. Night Fighter Scheme DONE 3. Day Fighter Scheme that was accidentally applied to some FB.VI NOT DONE This was the RAF's lot for the FB.VI the only variations to these were how the D-Day stripes were applied, prop hub colour and the occasional nose art! Absolutely loving this module
  23. I assume we will get them before the module leaves Early Access, I seem to recall pilot models being one of the last things added to a module. As you say though unfortunately for the Mozzie it looks odd, fingers crossed it will be added soon and we can start complaining about how cramped the cockpit is!
  24. On discord it has stated that the fuel starvation time will increase from 1.5 seconds to 3-4 seconds, so lets see how it feels then. I had no idea that the Bendix Carb wasn't on the Merlin 25, I assumed it would have been easy to retrofit! Perhaps the Spitfire Merlins were deemed priority and why would a low level FB.VI require it? Still, caught me completely off guard.
  25. The point is that technology was moving at a rapid rate in WW2, if they had given us a Emil would you still be happy to fly that in 1944/45? Of course not, it is the same with the G6. It is going to be very hard to get the right aircraft for the right time unless you only go for a set year, we don't have that: Spitfire: Early 1943 P-51: Late 1944 P-47: Late 1944 109 K4: Late 1944 190 A8: Early 1944 190 D9: Late 1944 Mossie: Mid 1942 I am hopeful that with the release of the Anton that paves the way for 1943/early 1944 versions of the 109, P-51 and P-47.
