Well.. There is a fw190 flying so there is no reason why they couldn't get a real sound, however it is not an A8 it is an A5 but they have the same 801-D2 engine

Hi chaps just thought I would put a link to this here, a shameless plug but every little helps and it is a good cause. https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/rb396#start You can also read more on the restoration here... https://hawkertyphoon.com/webshop/ Regards, Krupi

Potentially due to Normandy not being the theatre these luftwaffe aircraft saw much action... The allied aircraft campaigns are based upon actual mission reports etc. If this is the case we will definitely get some for the A8

Same here!

Check out the weight of the Merlin v the BD605.... The BD605 is only slightly heavier. They used alloys for the engine block. Two very different principles, the British wanted to have a rugged engine that could be maintained in the field whilst the 109 were more likely to swap out the engine and have the old engine fixed elsewhere. At least that is how I have been led to believe.

Not currently... Two typhoons and two tempest current being restored for flight. UK RB396, Canada JP843 and the two tempest Mk Ii and V by Kermit Weeks.
-
It could achieve over 350mph (~560kmh) on the deck so it was pretty damn good for its day. Unfortunately the climb rate left a lot to be desired. Still I hope we get it even if it is just the AI for a while, Normandy without a Typhoon!!!

Similar to the Typhoon in that regards and the Typhoon was used as a low level 190 interceptor.

DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion
Krupi replied to msalama's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
Our best hope is that a few third parties join the cause... We already have a I-16 in developement and the F4U with a Pacific theatre apparently coming. ED might be being tight lipped but they are steadily working on things in the background so I am quite hopeful. -

Look wbere we are with the original kickstarter, back in 2013 i pumped in over $300 into it and I am still waiting for the P-47 and ME-262... I seriously doubt with the lessons learnt that ED would approach this again. -

+1 I agree with the above statements. However what about the aircraft that it might be next to impossible to get the necessary information for in order to make a 'full fidelity' aircraft? Of course we all want all the main aircraft in ww2 and be able to count each rivet but is that even possible, look at the pains that the P-47 has caused and there are many flying examples. -

Yes, however IIRC the changes required to the cockpits, structure (door's, canopy.. especially regarding the NF variety with its radar) and engines used would mean a huge amount of work. Would be nice to have them but it would not be a simple task by any means unfortunately. -

That would be great, however part of the reason it was able to undergo so many varied mission was because they had Bomber, Fighter Bomber, Night fighter and pathfinder variants. As the thread shows us we will be getting the fighter bomber version which to be fair was used on quite a variety of missions. -
I really hope we get the Hawker Typhoon flyable as well ????

Is DCS WWII stalled? DCS dont want customers?
Krupi replied to motoadve's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Would be nice to have an update on the WWII side of DCS today :music_whistling: I can't wait to see the mossie cockpit :music_whistling: or damage model :music_whistling: :D -
Does anyone here use the rift with an RTX 2070? Intrigued to see how it holds up!
-
At the risk of being hammered by the modern fighter jocks I would like to see Heatblur work on some wwii aircraft! Hawker Typhoon or Tempest :music_whistling:
-
Err... What, you can't just remove stats/players and then claim things are okay.... That is just utterly ridiculous. No one likes to use the dreaded word 'balance' but what we have now is neither historically correct or even remotely fair/balance... I can only hope that we get a G6 soon.
-
I wasn't asking for the XIV in this thread only the XVI, really I was just wondering about what differences the low back tear drop canopy of the last build IX and XVI had on the flight characteristics.

Haha :megalol: Well I apologise for my assumption, I did not intend to imply that the flight models are based on the hearsay of pilots whom, from the books i have read, tend to be staunch defenders of whichever aircraft they happen to have flown. Please could you expand on what you meant by the sentence below to clarify the matter. Thanks -

Yo-Yo has just stated that what is modelled is from first hand source which implies from discussions with actual 109 pilots. And I think it is fairly safe to assume any ww2 fighter pilot would be using both hands on the the stick at high speed and wrestling with the controls. -

No he is right, jug lovers have been teased for years with screenshots... it was originally planned to come out before the Spit IIRC. -
It is fantastic to hear that we are going to be getting Mossie however what would be really great to see in the stable is the Typhoon or Tempest. The Typhoon has never really being created in any WWII flight simulators and it is an important aircraft for Normandy/D-Day. Even with all its faults it was still a very capable aircraf. The Tempest was introduced in early 1944 and whilst it was present over Normandy the squadrons were briefly brought back to ADGB to counter the V1 threat. It was used over Europe in a low cover role in conjunction with Spitfire XIV as high cover. It was also used in deep strikes thanks to its range when fitted with drop tanks.

+1 However like you said the truth is nuanced.... yes there was a much more likely encounter with a18lb spitfire, but then again the luftwaffe had to deal with a utter swarm of allied aircraft... That isn't exactly represented, so the question becomes where does one draw the line?
-
If you were to look at my posts from two/three years ago you would see that I have been asking for the 25lb spitfire as well, unfortunately the evidence points to it not being a huge game changer in reality. Now given we have a K4 109 I would like to see a XIV or Tempest being worked on, fingers crossed we will together with a G6 for the Normandy map.
