  1. Tanking is fun!!! I guess... seriously though, if you enjoy hitting the tanker that much you can always approach on fumes, tank, dump, and tank again until you bleed the tanker dry.
  2. $229 = early adopter tax. Very excited about the stick and I will definitely pick it up, but I need to see it come down a bit before I purchase.
  3. Yeah, and we don't have anything that can fire Hellfires yet, so that takes some of the fun out of it too. Don't get me wrong, I'm still pretty excited about this project, but its niche is somewhat limited by the capabilities of DCS, both in terms of tech and modules.
  4. Yes. There's another thread about this, sorry I'm too lazy right now to get you a link, but poke around a little and you'll find it. It has to do with radalt at low altitude. Turn your radalt off and your framerate should be fine.
  5. Hey guys, pretty good at AAR in the Hornet. If anyone wants to meet up and practice I'm happy to help you all "git gud." Send me a PM. EDT evening availability.

    Trim?

Good call on the "auto trim" option. I think that's a good compromise between reality and user friendliness. Maybe if enough people ask for it OctopusG will code it in.
  7. It's the same button. Long and short refers to the duration of the button press
  8. Ugh... I could smell my CPU melting just by reading this post....
  9. Lol I love the whole Dad aspect of this group "Guys, I'm Winchester, RTB" "Hi Winchester RTB, we're Dad!" Hahaha thanks I'll show myself out
  10. Is it just me or does it look like they totally whiffed on the high five? Finger-tip brush, at best
  11. Is this true?!?!? How long have we had the ability to intercept air to air missiles? SHOULD we have the ability to intercept them? Is that a capability that exists in real life? I'm so confused yet intrigued...
  12. Great update guys! Keep up the good work! Can't wait to get my hands on the Corsair
  13. For all you guys struggling with AAR, practice practice practice! You'll get it eventually. I know that it can be pretty frustrating when you're just about to plug but you're fighting turbulence and the tanker enters a turn, so here's a basic refueling mission where you get 2+ hours of a straight and level tanker. Good luck, keep at it, and eventually you'll hear those two magic words. "Transfer complete" Probe and Drogue AAR.miz
  14. Point taken, Bronco, we get it, for you, with Steam you get the same product for less cost, then in your particular case it 100% makes sense for you to buy from Steam. All other things being equal (as I imagine it is for a significant portion of the customer base) you should buy directly from the ED store. I'm a big fan of more money going to the devs rather than the storefront.
  15. Bump. What's up with this? They're tan in the Persian Gulf map too.
  16. @Gabi: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3890001&postcount=143 Welcome to the Shark Pack! Here's the best writeup I've come across regarding the autopilot and stability augmentation. If you don't master this flying the Shark will be a nightmare! http://www.simhq.com/_air13/air_426a.html
  17. The cockpit lighting is supposed to be addressed at some future patch, so yeah, for the time being there are issues with the SAS buttons lighting up properly. I've found them easier to read in Ricardo's cockpits, which can be found here: Blue: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1766778/ Black: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/602834/ Just a quick heads up though, I don't know if you do any night flying, but it seems like the lighting for the gauges on the front instrument panel aren't working so well. Hope this helps, and hope we get an official ED fix for the Shark cockpit before too long.
  18. Same game, but Steam takes its 30% from ED, so if possible use the official E-Shop just for the sake of better supporting the devs. Also, there's an ED miles system that can be applied to knock the price down from items purchased at the ED shop. I don't know if this reward program also applies to Steam purchases. Can anyone comment here?
  19. So glad I stumbled across this thread. Have a mission where I do a low level into Bandar Abas and drop some 82SEs on a runway, but found it unplayable recently. Glad I know how to fix it now.
  20. It's a good map. Plenty of airfields and cities and lots of fun mountains to fly around. I would fly it a lot more but I'm mostly interested in naval ops these days so that to me is the main drawback; nowhere to stick a carrier
  21. Now the hard part is watching in-cockpit YouTube videos and not getting disoriented when the view doesn't move with your head movements :D
  22. Let's not overlook the M-2000C. It's dumb bomb load is comparable to the F-5, but has a much better radar and can carry SARH missiles in addition to the heaters.
  23. Here ya go. http://www.hochwarth.com/misc/AviationCalculator.html#CASMachTASEAS Refueling IAS for 29" baskets (the FW drogues) is 220 to 250 knots IAS. To use this calculator, set your refueling speed (235 is a pretty good number) in CAS, set altitude to that of your refueling alt, and set the speed of the track in the mission editor to the TAS computed by the website I just linked to. For example, 235 at 19,000' calculates out to 311 knots TAS. If you want your track at 23,000 that calculates to 331 over the ground. Wind speeds may vary this a bit, but when I set up tracks I always use this calculator to make sure I'm getting a good AR speed. Don't forget that when you're setting up your orbit, the speed to the waypoint doesn't matter, you have to set the orbit altitude and speed in the advanced waypoint settings. It sure would be nice to directly set a certain airspeed/mach number for aircraft in the mission editor...
  24. I don't think this is a bug, as you stated the radalt is OFF when you cold start so it's not sensing anything until you turn it on. I think that the 60 or so feet indicated is normal for it being unpowered? I've never had any issues with the radalt, and can confirm that both a) as I fly over the carrier deck my radalt drops 70 feet (since the deck is 70 above the water line) and b) when I fly over other aircraft it senses my 'height' above the other plane. Anyway, as long as the instrument works as intended when the power switch is on, I don't think we need to be concerned about it's 'operation' when it's off.
