Not being that familiar with the Huey so pardon me if I'm wrong, but are we going to see the M129 grenade launcher added at some point, or is the model we have not capable of that?

One thing I've noticed is that if you're hard on your wheels while taxing (turning while too fast, slamming on brakes to stop) you have a much higher chance to blow out your tires. Could all be in my head of course, but it feels that way to me. Significantly fewer blowouts when I'm gentle on the wheels.

Ah yeah. Water does make it much worse. 60 fps down to 14 at times.

With the A-10C you need to drop the gear before starting otherwise you get the same thing. No idea if it's the same for the A. The engines not starting is a bug that happens with the C too. Best advice I can give is not to get hit.

It's based on signal strength, similar to the Russian RWR. The stronger the signal the closer it will show to the center on the TWES. You kind of have to use your best judgement based on what threat you're facing.

Strange. I'm not getting that bad of an FPS hit. I average about 53 without guns firing and 48 with. I attached my dxdiag so maybe that will help. It says I have a GTX 780 now, but back when I was using a GTX 570 they still weren't as bad as some reports. Also attached is a screenshot of my settings. DxDiag.txt

I know I'm posting in a troll thread but, why is this an argument?

Is this really as complicated as it looks?
kk0425 replied to markwilliam's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Eh. DCS: A-10C was my first simulator I ever played, bought it off steam during the 2011 winter sale thinking this will be neat to have a game for the A-10. I had no idea what I was getting myself into at the time. I have zero real life experience in a plane. I stuck it out and learned the tutorials and glad I did. It really isn't that complicated. It's more than possible to learn enough to kill stuff from just the in game tutorials. Take it one step at a time and try not to digest the whole thing at once. -
I would like to see a screenshot. I tried to see the heavy smoke you're seeing and I can only get a brief puff during rapid throttle changes.

DCS: Hawk please. And merry Christmas.

ON board Sound card or PCI-E one
kk0425 replied to sotosev's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I don't believe I can use the cable option unfortunately with my current rig. I would need a PCI-E card. I'm looking because I really miss the rich sounds I had with my XtremeGamer card. Onboard lacks the oomph needed for a good experience. -
I would learn basic flight principals first and how to maneuver the A-10 so you can jink and evade fire effectively. Navigation and managing mark points, TOT, fuel management, etc are probably the most important things you can learn. Basically all the stuff I found boring since it usually ends up being the most important, and now I'm very glad I spent the time to learn it. While the most fun for me, it doesn't take much to use a smart weapon.

+1 Especially the TV part.

ON board Sound card or PCI-E one
kk0425 replied to sotosev's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Using this case: http://store.antec.com/Product/clearance_items/df-85/0-761345-15238-9.aspx with this motherboard: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4N98TD_EVO/ I could *maybe* use the second PCI slot, but then I would pretty much be blocking a fan on a 780 GTX. And yeah I know, the motherboard isn't the greatest. Planning on a spring upgrade to an i5 or maybe i7 and RAM so I may just hold off until then anyway. I'm kind of planning just in case EDGE ends up being more than my current setup can handle. -

Gotcha. There might be a problem if we're looking underground in an airplane though.

ON board Sound card or PCI-E one
kk0425 replied to sotosev's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Didn't know they made such a thing. But I don't think it would work since my motherboard has slots for each open space on my case. Unless I can fit the cable to the card without it hitting one of the empty PCI-E x1 or x16 ports. I would honestly love to go with that solution if possible. -
ON board Sound card or PCI-E one
kk0425 replied to sotosev's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have a Creative XtremeGamer PCI card that I can't use anymore due to the location of my PCI slot in relation to my PCI-E x16 slot for my GPU. What would be an equivalent card to replace that except in a PCI-E x1 for about $100? I don't really have a preference on ASUS or Creative, but I never really had issues with the Creative card in most games. I think Killing Floor was the only one and I had to disable a setting in the game to stop it from crashing. $100 isn't a hard limit either, I can go up to $200 no problems if it's worth the benefits. I play with a headset on all the time, but I do have a stereo I use sometimes for playing music when I want to relax. This is the headset I'll be using after Christmas. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826249083 -
So is the water layer completely gone now or does it still render under the ground like I've heard talk that it does?

Just broke my track lip pro. Need comfort
kk0425 replied to bojangles_25's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm not worried about difficulty. The reflector works fine for me too but am just curious if there is any benefit to using LEDs instead (better tracking). -

kk0425 replied to bojangles_25's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thank you so much! Was about to ask if it was possible to make your own. I never bothered with the the clip since I heard how flimsy they were. Will any IR LED do or is there a specific one needed? -
Displaying the map on a separate monitor
kk0425 replied to Gloom Demon's topic in Multi-Monitor Support
This would be nice to have. PeterP could probably figure out how if it's possible. You already can turn off showing of hostile/friendly/all units and the map all together. I don't see the problem with just a map since pilots carry a paper map anyway. -
I used the X-52 (non pro) version for a year without any major issues, just needed to set up some deadzones. I saved up for the TM Warthog and have loved it ever since. The stiff spring is something to get used to but it feels like there is some feedback from the plane. It's a placebo effect but It's better than the the limp X-52. The only real complaint I have with the Warthog is the slew control but that's about the only flaw with it.

Apologies, it wasn't meant to be snarky. I didn't see the problem. I agree the effect doesn't last as long which doesn't make it look quite right.
-
I'm still not sure what the problem is. If it's just the smoke doesn't last as long as it should so it looks stuck on then yeah, but otherwise looks fine. Certainly doesn't look stuck on the plane. Obviously not. I made that clear in my first sentence. Why don't you care to elaborate instead of a snarky reply?
