  1. heh heh, I was playing the new campaign too and wondered about the human names and "onlineness". I had to pause the game at one point to reassure myself that it was in fact AI that was trying to shoot me down and not a Human :D
  2. I am also having problems with this, well at least until I started running High Scenes and High visibility settings. You can see it affects all textures at that range (field Boundaries) and looks pretty nasty.
  3. Great patch, lots of new content and features. Plus they added propper Multi-GPU support which gives me a large boost in FPS with my GTX295.
  4. Wow amazing footage, thanks very much!
  5. This is working fine for every one else then? Every one loves how the textures look worse than Lockon less than 1km from your view point? I have had to increase my graphics from Medium Scenes and Medium Visibility range to High now as it look so bad on medium. I notice that with these settings on high I also see this anomaly I noticed with my own tweak, where by the Scrub-land texture shows through the Field texture at certain distances... everyone else thinks this looks ok too?
  6. Tweak not working anymore & default texture opinion Unfortunately I have discovered the fix is no longer working for me Since the 08 patch. I am getting some strange texture filtering in the medium distance, most noticeable on Field type textures: Field textures in the distance look ok, but blurry. Field textures medium distance now have part of the "scrub-land" texture "mixed in". (see screen shots). Field textures very near are are drawn properly. Look at the first 3 screen shots to show more clearly than I can explain. Can any of you gurus help me to get this back to how it was? ++++++++++++Opinion on Default Texture Quality++++++++++++ I have to say I really am not a fan of whatever it is they have done to the whole texture rendering/texture filtering system since the last couple of patches. I much preferred the way they where handled previously. Textures looked pretty sharp much further out then they do now. They also transitioned more smoothly from sharp to blurry. With the new method, they get blurry way too close and the transition is too harsh, it looks really bad to me. With the old way you could just also turn on x16 Anisotropic Filtering (in your Nvidia driver) and get some nice extra overall sharpness to the textures. But with what ever they have changed, this no longer works. I know most of this was probably done to help the harddisk thrashing problem, but to be honest, for me that HD induced stutter mostly only kicked in when Both TGP and Mav cameras where active. And that still occurs on some missions. Is there anyone else who feels this way about texture quality? Did the Beta testers think this looks ok? I have also included two screen shots to show the bad transition from sharp to horribly blurry textures (this is from an unedited install)
  7. Thanks Nate for the description and comparison screen shots. I prefer the Soft original style look myself.
  8. Good job, beacuse disappointingly the default terrain texture settings look horrendous yet again, with fields and textures looking really bad a short (and very noticeable) distance from your plane. Also buildings appearing right in front of you. I am really surprised that this has been left like this. I think all of us that have applied this tweak have not really had any degradation of performance ( as long as you don't use very large values). eg I don't think that this is an area to cripple in order to improve fps and stuttering. It just makes the sim look really crap. Its not like I am running with perfect FPS and no stutter either, but changing this setting seems to make little difference. Why is it that ED is being so conservative with these settings? I am running High textures and Medium Scenes. I shudder to think what it would look like if I went any lower. I look around my cockpit and I'm in 2011 . I look out the window and I'm transported to 2000. :puke:
  9. comme ci comme ça, maybe next time. Thanks for the heads up
  10. sounds similar to the kind of problem I was having where ALT tabbing would gain back a lot of FPS when ever they suddenly dropped in game.
  11. Reading the article on BBC's news site it seems very odd. Easy for a desktop pilot to say I know but, numerous time there where stall warnings but they never increase speed, it just mentions that they decreased throttle. Why would you ever decrease throttle at a stall warning? Also, twice after there was a stall warning they say the tried to "raise the nose". Like Sov13t says, its like they just stalled from 37000 foot to 0
  12. Thanks for the update..looking forward
  13. Very sweet. Nice addition thanks ED ! Id' say that's quite a big fix, people been asking for ages. Any other hidden gems you'd like to divulge ? :)
  14. A couple of weeks ago some one posted a real good guide as to when and where you use all your lights. I'll have a quick look... ---------------- Yes, here it is:
  15. Nice job, I had no idea the way the mouse stick worked was a simple as a D pad :). I wonder if it is the same in the non Pro x52, I guess it probably is.
  16. No worries, thanks for letting us know.
  17. he was abducted by teh internet aliens :bye::alien:
  18. I'm really looking forward to Nevada. For me it will be a major change for this series since I first played Lockon. The Caucasus map is great and all, but what I really want to do is fly over Desert terrain and kill tanks etc. At least I can pretend its Afghanistan, or Iraq '90 / 2003. I think it will be easier to eye ball targets moving across the desert too. Bit of a shame it a ways off yet, but I guess I can wait :) Thanks for the update.
  19. I would never use it, quite a few would seem to like it though. I'm of the frame of mind that I "am" the pilot and "I" am holding the stick. If I could see limbs in the cockpit, it would be kind of like.....I was remote controlling some one else in the cockpit. hmm if you know what I mean lol. I actually find that an immersion breaker. Its the same for me and race sims. If it is possible I will turn off things like steering wheel, driver arms etc. As the steering wheel is on my desk and my arms are holding it. Maybe we should have the option in DCS A10 to remove the HOTAS from our cockpit view. :)
  20. Hi AgentD, welcome to the Forum. I guess I should ask why would a laser guided bomb be dropped in CCIP mode. Thinking about it, my guess is so you could still use it with out the laser. eg through cloud or bad weather? Perhaps I'm incorrect by associating release mode with guidance mode. They are independent of each other? EG it would be normal enough to drop and LGB in CCIP mode? As soon as I think PGM is start thinking CCRP
  21. What's the reasoning behind the Laser guided bombs being set to CCIP by default? I always have to modify the profile to CCRP too.
  22. hmm how to avoid politics...not very easy. Predictable, but I think this is pretty amusing, the chest beating reaction from the American public and media. They're celebrating like it's the end of WW2 and Hitler is dead. I guess if it makes people feel better about the tens of thousands of killed civilians and being involved in an unwinnable quagmire like Afghanistan for a short while, then why not...
  23. Standard X52 is fine. Be aware that the profile does not contain many assignments. Almost all the controls are are assigned in sim, via Jack's .lua which is included with the .zip.
  24. Nice Guide Shu77. I'd like to get use to using lights as they should be, but for the moment they are costing too much FPS. Hope this can be be fixed eventually
  25. Was that a full length documentary or just a feature on a news program? Interesting any way, thanks.
