Odd, you should be able to have SLI enabled and get a boost in FPS. The only problems I have with with SLI at the moment are with it causing graphical corruption on the TGP and Mav cameras, which can be circumvented for the moment by using an "Every Frame"(512, as 1024 will negate any boost from SLI) option for the MFCDs. I personally never saw the point in SLI AA in any game/sim. PS dont make a profile for DCS A10. The Nvidia CP is using the DCS:BlackShark profile for DCS:A10 also. So just leave it set to "Nvidia Recommended" and it should be fine. trying to force SLI by using AFR1 or AFR2 will cause corruption in game

I have a 120hz TFT monitor and I have to keep in game Vsync enabled or I get horrendous tearing when I pan my view with TrackIR. I don't where the myth that you have to exceed your monitors refresh rate in FPS to get tearing comes from, but it has never been true for me.

I can live with out it. I never really saw the point, although the clip board is the first real use I have seen mentioned for it. To me its like having a 3d steering wheel shown when your playing a driving sim. Besides, its just more stuff to be rendered and sap precious FPS.

thamuff nice pics. What is the strange truck in the background of picture no.3? Looks like a mobile control tower.

Good film ^Way to add to the conversation...actually it's probably better you didn't :music_whistling: Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to Viper again. I finally got round to watching this last night. I quite enjoyed it. Some parts of it made me feel more like it was a reconstruction than actual footage of events. But the guys they are interviewing look the same people in the film so... . The production was very good for this sort of film, they had good mics with them too, some great sounds. The more of these documentaries I watch it just further confirms my (own) opinion that this is an unwinable war. With the big loosers, as always, being the civillians. Worth a watch

Cheapest way to buy Track IR 5 bundle?
BTTW-DratsaB replied to kingneptune117's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I don't think money is wasted on the clip, yes it is over priced. But it also enhances TrackIr a lot. -
Holding off buying until full release: ok?
BTTW-DratsaB replied to apoll's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
There are enough bugs to be frustrating if you intend to try to play it as a retail/fully functional game. But if your happy just learning and putting up with crashes to desktop and possible errors introduced by newer beta versions, I advise to hold off. However, learning this Sim takes along time so it may be worth getting it just for that. As long as you can be patient and able to live with unexpected bugs, go for it. The ultimate question is , If a bug crept into the Betas that meant you couldn't play it for a month would that annoy you? For me I could live with it, so I jumped in. -
Beers' advise is pretty much the best you can do. For anyone wondering if it is worth getting a Track Clip Pro, this is exactly the sort of problem it fixes.

Still having big problems with this in Beta4.

I tried to get on the forum about about a half our ago, it worked and I clicked on the Beta forum then nothing, whole forum was unavailable for about 15 minutes. I don't mind this problem so much, but what really annoys me is it has marked every forum as read when I can finally get back on.

Heh :) don't worry mate. You don't have to replace the existing training mission files. Do this: 1. Go to your DCS A-10C Beta/Missions/ folder 2. Create a new folder in there called "New Training" (or some thing like that) 3. Copy the new training missions in there. 4. Now load the game and access the new training missions like you where just loading a one off mission. (eg: Click Mission on the main menu and pick what training you want to do)

^very cool. I can see SWAT teams and Hollywood directors creaming their shorts right now :)

+1 to that, I'd rather not use the keyboard

TrackIR 5 much better than 4?
BTTW-DratsaB replied to brewber19's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I don't think many people who had a 4 upgraded to a 5, so its hard to find a user comparison. But, as Yskonyn said, if you don't have a TrackClip pro and are just using the Vector, absolutely get a Track Clip before upgrading to TIR5. The tracking is so much more precise than those reflectors. -
TrackIr software for Win7 64 bit games
BTTW-DratsaB replied to joker62's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm guessing the 64bit version is backward compatible with 32bit applications? This could be quite good for me as I never switched to version 5 software. -
Welcome to the Forum and DCS:a10 Feldwebel :) I'll be the first to admit that the manual puts me off. So I rely on the tutorials a lot, then go and read relative sections of the manual to clarify or get more info, which inevitably leads me on to looking at some other part of the manual. :book: My main method of learning are the Training missions though. I will just keep playing them over and over until they get burned into my brain. It takes me ten minutes to read and understand a new or complicated concept, but 2 minutes if I see a practical demonstration or get to try my self. Also, you may not have The Quick Start manual if you only have joined the Beta. You can get it from here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1015424&postcount=2 It's a great intro to the sim and gives you the ability to do a lot.

1. Use the map to see, In real life you would know where you are :P. To get the frequency check mission briefing or use the CDU divert page to get the airfield frequency. Actually, iirc you can also get the Freq. on the map by clicking on the airfield. 2. Again, cheat and use the externals. In RL you would know where you are and the layout of the airport you where at:) 3. If they say 08, you taxi to the end of the runway that has 08 on it.

SLI Causing Graphical Artifacting on FLIR and IR sensors Just wanted to bump this to get some developer feedback that they are aware of the issue and to clarify the problem. The problem: IR maverick and TGP FLIR cameras are showing graphical corruption in the form of flickering, wireframe mesh showing through the ground texture when looking at the MFCDS. The cause: This is caused by running an nVidia SLI configuration The (temporary) solution: It can be fixed by setting "Res. Of Cockpit Displays" to an "Every Frame" option (eg. 1024 Every Frame). Disabling SLI also fixes it. Expected result: The performance impact of having to run at even "512 Every Frame" is too much compared to just "1024". SLI is making a large benefit to the sim's performance. I would like to be able to use SLI and the less taxing "1024" setting. At the moment having to use an Every Frame is negating any advantage of SLI. Other notes: The fact that it doesn't seem to occur with the CCD camera (I also never had this problem in Black Shark) gives me hope that Eagle will be able to fix it without having to wait for nVidia to make a profile. Can any of the Developers let us know their stance on this kind of problem? I understand you guys are very busy and imagine it can be annoying being bombarded by lots of questions relating to development and bug fixing when it comes to us external, 2nd tier of beta testers. But, we don't know what's going on behind the scenes so we may unwittingly be asking about something you know about, have plans for, or may even have already fixed. So please bare with our inquisitive enthusiasm :)

Anyone else having fun flying this old crate ? :pilotfly::D I have never gone between two sims that contrast so much as DCS:A10 and Rise of Flight. After RoF, DCS is like Digital over load, ultra futuristic :robot: After DCS, RoF is like, "How did they not crap a load every time they got into one of these motorised, flying wicker baskets? :fear:" I love it The new patch features and Handley Page are really great.

You may be inclined to dismiss it at first but the "Short Manual" in the docs directory is really great. You can do a whole load of things just by reading through that. It has a nice over view of how to use the weapons. This combined with the in game training missions is a great starting point. -
err..the training missions :smilewink:

Thanks a lot . I find this vehicle very interesting. I would love to watch a documentary on it.

I'm guessing you have done the landing tutorial in the sim? This taught me how to ILS land, I looked at the manual after to verify some things, but the included sim tutorial is perfectly adequate.
