How do I get rid of JTAC data points?
BTTW-DratsaB replied to kingneptune117's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Thanks, I was wondering about this. -
It's great fun; it has trucks, cars, boats, tanks, cranes, planes, helicopters, monster trucks...in fact if it is some kind of vehicle its probably available for RoR! Heaps of great terrains too and multiplayer (albeit a little buggy last time I checked). I'm sure that there is an old thread on here about it. One thing I enjoy about RoR is watching is grow over time. It has come a very long way since first release.

^ same here.

1)Thanks for that, makes sense. 2)About the buggy co-ords, I'll have to fly the mission again to recheck to see if it happens again. It wouldn't surprise me if it is user error, but I cant think what things I could be doing wrong to get such an odd result. I would be interested to know what Weaponz248 thoughts are.

I cant wait to. I think I'm looking forward to them releasing the Nevada terrain more than the Sim going gold. I'd be very happy to pay for some more terrains also.

Quite a lot from tests I have done. Ignoring the flicker, I can run 1024 setting with no real performance issues, but swtich to 512 every frame and I loose a bunch of FPS when one or both optical sensors are active. Yes, there is no 256 Every Frame option, not that I would want it tbh beacuse it looks ugly as sin, I can barely stand 512. 1024 looks so sweet. It hasn't worked for me since I got DCS:A10 (beta 2), I don't think it is the driver either. But one way to find out for sure (I just thought of :) ). If you play Blackshark (I have it but haven't played [ahem "flown"] in ages) you could see if the non every frame option in that causes the same flickering. If it does then it is a driver change that caused it, but if its ok then it's DCS:A10 that needs fixing.

It's a great mission for learning JTAC, so thanks again! However, I have run into some confusion while learning. I pretty much have complete success using the TAD, Acknowledging the task, then Setting the red data linked triangle as SPI with the TAD cursor and then proceeding to TGP to slave to the SPI, then attack. What I don't understand is when the other method of using JTAC I have seen explained comes in to it:- Where you enter the Coordinates given by the JTAC into the CDU to make a new Mark point. Why would you use this method if you can just hook the Datalinked TAD marker? One other odd situation that confused me: When I first tried the above mission I was using a combination of the coordinate input method and the Red triangle method. When the JTAC called out the coords (KM0525671) of the First target, I entered them into the CDU and made a new mark point (as per the various tutorials and manual). I could see a new Mark point on the TAD, I then slave the TGP to the area but I could see nothing there. I then proceeded with the JTAC comms, where he sent me the DataLink target. I noticed it was quite bit away from the coordinates given to me. I destroyed the target using the red triangle and moved on to the second. This time the coordinates given (km0521650), when entered, gave me the exact location of the first target I just destroyed. The Data linked red triangle gave me the correct location..I destroyed it. As before, the Third targets Coords gave me the exact location of the second target I just destroyed, but the Datalinked info gave the right location of the third target. Any ideas what is going on there? Sorry if its too confusing.

Yep, I noticed the same. Fingers crossed he has it on his list of things to fix. At least we know the Lead Dev has the exact same problem as us :D . I notice Crossfire users are getting some attention in the coming Beta, hopefully SLI users will too. I know it cost too much performance, but have you tried "512 Every Frame"?
-
Vista64 here, I am really stunned by the up take of W7. It's really is not that different from Vista as far as I can see, yet it's uptake is probably the highest I have seen for any new release of Windows. Did it just happen to be a the right time for people it upgrade? curious.

FPS drop inside cockpit and some other graphics problems
BTTW-DratsaB replied to Pasko's topic in Bugs and Problems
Caused by SLI Yeah, unfortunately if you run SLI the TGP and MAV images will flicker unless you select an Every Frame option. I'm having to run 512 Every frame, which does cost some performance but I'm putting up with it until they get a fix going. I really want to be able to use the 1024, non Every Frame setting. I noticed the other day that Wags uses a GTX 295 (as do I) also, so I wonder how he is dealing with the SLI flicker problem? At least we can be fairly certain he has experienced it and (hopefully) has plans to get it fixed. -
After yet another merge from another thread about the same thing...: For a sim that requires so much patience, it really does surprise how little some have here... I have seen it happen with other games/sims where the Devs are open and in very touch/communicative with the community. They eventually get pissed with threads like this and don't say anything at all until they have some thing to release...please, lets not force ED to take this approach......thanks And please don't tell me we are just having a laugh/enthusiastic etc...I'm sick of seeing demanding threads.

Now that both of you are in front of my "desk"....One of you two change your avatar, you have been confusing me for ages :matrix::matrix::suspect:

Ahh, I see, thanks for explanation. I really love the look of those new generation trainers...slick aircraft.
-
That doesn't look too good for the engines. Do they have a flap that covers them somewhat for such landings? Would that plane be able to take off again soon after landing or would it need some tlc first? (Given that it's Russian my guess is they could put it back up within a few minutes :) ) Nice photo anyway, ty!

Force x16 AF from the driver to give nice sharp ground textures. Everything else I use in game setting. I might investigate using nvidia driver forced 2x AA instead of in game 2x AA, as some times one gives better FPS than the other. I have my doubts though.

Battlefield Rant :) "jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer" This is how they are trying to whet my appetite for BF3? Prone?.....PRONE? 1942 was amazing, innovative, had way more players (even AI) and possibilities than I had seen in any game up till that. Desert Combat blew me away, it was for me multiplayer nirvana and perfectly balanced. Couldn't wait to see what the creators Trauma Studios could do with the chance at making a retail game. BF2 disappointed me, but I'll admit I did have some enjoyment with it. There where some very annoying times with hackers and with patches that fubar'd the game (Server crash anyone?) for months at a time. Also: no Sever favourites, NO CTF (never forgive them for that), Over powered jets (Air superiority fighters with bombs!) and helos, no Man portable AA class. Frustratingly inaccurate weapons. Good things? The voip was great as was the ability to make squads, I also thought the commander was a good idea. But they wrecked so much of the original flavour and balance of Desert Combat that these added extras where no compromise. So BF3? Yeah right..I'm pretty much gonna predict it will suck and be nothing like as amazing or innovative as it's great granddad 1942. The fact that they list; "jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer" as exciting features of this game is laughable when the original did all that plus more. Where the heck is 128 players? And another eyes-to-heaven moment is before we get any hard details about the game content, they have already made us aware of the first DLC/expansion Battlefield 3:Back to Karkand LMFAO Screw you EA, Screw you :music_whistling: I hope I'm proved wrong.

Cool and scarily powerful. Is this like JDAM for FFAR rockets then?
-
Yeah, I too need to next learn about this JTAC malarkey. Thanks! When you where learning the JTAC procedures did you learn from the manual/ a training vid/ a forum post etc? Any tips appreciated.

All I do is remember...We can play DCSA10!!! :pilotfly: At this time, when we where waiting for BS all we could do was pour over Wags producers notes on youtube time and time again :D Imagining the possibilities !

Nice! Another effect I would like to see added is the Cockpit view and HUD vibrating when you fire.

Default is Dim and I always leave it like that. When ever I try Bright I cant properly read the Caution Light panel

Look for: "\DCS A-10C Beta\Missions\MG.miz" this is the save of the last generated mission

Tgts on map (F10) to Tgting pod
BTTW-DratsaB replied to RIFLE_JTAC_TRAINING's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
A habit I found myself starting to use is turning on the "Sat" option in the F10 view and then using the positions of the fields and towns to get my bearings on where targets are. Also as mentioned, once a battle starts the burning wrecks are a big help. I was actually annoyed with myself for keeping on having to rely on the F10 map to find targets, but until some one mentioned it here, I had totally forgotten that I used to fly LockOn with labels on. I'm glad I don't do that any more 'cause that is an immersion killer. -
Useless Saitek You know what I don't get. What is Saitek's problem? are they really that bad of a company? I mean, how many times do people have to complain about something before their engineers realise that some thing is not working properly? This problem crops up all the time. I have a X52 and the same problem. Its a terrible and unforgivable design flaw. X45 has it, X52 has it, X52"pro" has it. I will never buy a Saitek stick again. But, we have lots of new solutions to try so thanks! The one thing I have always tried to get my hands on that I think might fix it, is that white Grease you get on the plastic gears of radio controlled cars and on the mechanisms of Optical drives. Silicone grease supposedly, but I'll be dammed if I can buy any of that here in Ireland. I must have bought about 5 different types of silicone grease and none of them are anything like that white stuff. And when you ask...blank stare.. :music_whistling: Putting cable ties on the spring helped most for me so far, but it definitely needs some lube.
