  1. That could actually be quite good, interesting to try anyway, might feel more intuitive.
  2. I am thinking about this (moving from ../programfiles(86)/games/ to C:/games/) because of vista and UAC. But for most games, including BS, they will require a reinstallation due to the registry entires that will no longer be valid. I think the copy protection reg entries will be the main reason why you could not do it with BS.
  3. Cheers mate, glad to have given you some inspiration :D. Ill give it a try tomorrow
  4. Do you get a +5-7 fps increase regardless of full screen option on or off? Had a look at my version and it says I'm using V0074e GTA San. I just checked their site and it seems like there are indeed many new versions out. None of them that you are aware of are able to use fullscreen in BS though? Dang. Ill try some out anyway, what version are you currently using? cheers for the info
  5. I have found a bad side affect of this mod. I noticed my frame rates where not as good as I remembered when I first tried the Affinity fix. Some might put this down to the ENBseries taking away frames, but it turns out that setting the game to run without the "Full Screen" option checked negates any performance you get from using the Affinity fix, for some reason. I tried running the game as standard (no mods) and when the Full screen option is set on I get +15-20 fps with Affinity on all cores. With the Full screen option off I get about +1 fps with Affinity set on all cores. Is there anyone using this ENBSeries mod who doesn't have to uncheck "Full Screen" mode to make it work? Or anyone any ideas on why it needs this option unchecked to make it work? Kinda of a bummer to be loosing fps, not only from the mod itself, but also all the benefit of our multicore tweak. :noexpression:
  6. Good question, I was wondering how this worked. When I first went to use the route mode I expected it to automatically adjust collective and maybe speed, like it does with the steering. I think this is how the SU25 and A10 "route modes" work, so I guess that's where I got my assumptions. (Note to self - "helos are not airplanes"..repeat :) ) I had pretty much figured it out after playing around with it a few times, but this thread helps clear some things up for me, thanks. One more question though, does the 20% authority rule apply to the collective also, when ALT HLD is on?
  7. Can none of you experienced aviation types shed some light on this? You could say "why does it matter? just use it within the limitations available". But it always gives me a better understanding when I can relate to real world usage.
  8. It's because you have "Heading Hold" off. I think when this is off you are subject to influence from the wind or some other mechanical force. Heading Hold compensates for these and locks you in the direction you want to be going, but you have to trim if you want to change direction. I reckon this is a good example of why its good to keep the Blue button autopilot channels on. With them off your having to compensate all the time with the pedals/ stick. Like in Il2 when the torque of a plane keeps pulling you to one side so you have to constantly input rudder to counter it, or use the airplane's trim.
  9. This is something that surprised me and probably quite a few others. I would consider myself a layman when it comes to aviation, but it seems like quite a missed opportunity to not be able to link the auto pilot system to the Abris. I guess we have Hollywood and Arcade games to thank for giving me these kind of assumptions. I suppose to a Ka50 pilot they would be pleased that they are getting this extra system that allows for a graphical map overview, better situational awareness in a combat zone and with your wing men etc. I am wondering how these two systems (PVI800 and Abris) are used in real life. Would there ever be a case where a pilot would create a route on the Abris and then input the coords into the PVI? Or if they did input a route to the Abris would they just use the flight info provided by the Abris to fly the route manually? Maybe this is already set out for them by ground crew before they get in the cockpit, e.g. the ground crew loads the Abris with the route then programs the PVI with the waypoints before the pilot gets in. You also have the issue of being able to modify or create additional waypoints to the existing route while airborne and on a mission, would these be entered into the PVI800, or would they again be just flown to manually using abris for steering info? I guess they would have to if there where more than 6 waypoints, some could be TPs on the PVI I suppose. Finaly, I am right in understanding that the Flight Driector mode has no relation to Abris either? Anyway, excuse my limited understanding of these systems and any help would be greatly appreciated. :) Thankyou
  10. I am having this problem also, I know its not new and it is known about. I used to have the same issue in FC and Lockon, but in BS it is causing a problem for me with the training tracks. In any training mission that starts with the engines on (all the Abris ones except for the 1st) they are way too loud, like when the door is open. Obviously I cant change views because it is a track. When the track ends and I take control the only way to fix the sound is to open the door, turn off the engines, restart the engines and close the door when the engines are fully spooled up. Turning engines sound effects to 0 in the options seems to do nothing. I can barely hear the narrator in the training, this stuff is complicated enough to figure out without addition of a barely audible narrator. Any sugestions? Im also guessing that when 1.01 comes out none of these tracks will work any more, so is anyone planning to make some FRAPS videos of the training tracks, or maybe its already been done? Vista U 64 Creative extreme music Alchemy on/off - no difference
  11. I read many reviews of LCD monitors before I purchased mine. But alas, I only found the best review after I bought the monitor: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/monitors/ These guys seem to do very thorough testing and give previews of backlight bleed etc. Every fault that annoys me about my monitor (most notably the inconsistent brightness from top to bottom) is mentioned in their review of the T240. This too is my first LCD, been using CRT up to now.
  12. Samsung T240 here. 5ms and ghosting is noticeable. Not so much in Flightsims but it is there. I know some LCD monitors come with RTC (response time compensation), but supposedly they add artifacts some times. Has anyone any expierience with these RTC modes?
  13. Can't thank you enough mate, Ill give it a go. rep inbound  Edit : Dang, seems your the last person I gave rep to, so I cant you give you any more, for now :)
  14. heh heh, yeah I'm actually using your old Russian runway textures at the moment. Very nice too. I noticed that there are also high res textures and extra airfield objects in the producers note about navigation. I seem to recall some thing about these extra airfield objects as a mod for flaming cliffs. Possibly related to the Simmod terrain. Is Ruggbutt around here these days? hope they get released. cheers for the info guys.
  15. I normally don't make double posts, but I really want to know about this. Either the producers notes comments section does not get many views or no one else is as impressed with this as me :) . Anyway, in the Basic Flight Producer's Note video the textures of the terrain and runway seem to be way better than anything I can get with in game GFX settings or nVidia control panel settings (eg AF which I have at 16). I'm guessing some mod or other was used. Does anyone know what it is? It looks excellent.
  16. I believe it is done by switching the Axis to "bands" mode in the profiler and then assigning the key commands to the required "band". If you search the forum for "x52" and "bands", I think you will find some thing.
  17. Slightly OT, but I cant believe this, are you saying some one has actually learned to fly this sim in full mode and then proceeds to start team killing people? Or is it in game mode? Either way, it doesn't really matter and its very disappointing to hear this has started to happen :( . Seems no game is ever safe from griefers, sigh.
  18. I have been looking through the producers notes and I noticed that in number 3 the ground textures seem to be much higher quality than in any of the other videos and also in game for me. I use highest quality textures and 16x anisotropic filtering and they still don't look as good as in that video. Also the runway seems much higher res/detailed in the video than the default textures in BS. I am using user made runway textures at the moment but the one in that video looks even better. Anyone else notice or am I imagining it. does anyone know where I can get these enhancments?
  19. Looks pretty cool, but I think its fake. Some thing looks odd at the start of the video.
  20. I know its probably in the manual, but since we're discussing it :), what emergency situations would require full/emergency power? Guessing, I'd say maybe loss of one of the engines?
  21. wow, I have never seen a Russian cockpit look so new and unused before. Looks impressive
  22. Great pics Grimes, cheers
  23. I know its not much of a concern to most of us, playing a flight sim and all. But I find it interesting that they seem keen on the idea of a replacment mouse for FPS games etc. I could never see a joystick being better than a mouse for that sort of application. However, For flight sims it may be very good. I reckon a bit out of my price range though and expect it will be closer to 400+ than 250 euros.
  24. Using the old Russian style myself, excellent work. thank you
  25. Damn, The guy in that C130 looks unimpressed lol. Those eagles must have a seriously hard head/beak!!:D
