  1. Yes it sucks, I find it quite a big problem because when I do the "fix" (switching views) the engines sound weird afterwards, like there is some kind of phasing or Doppler effect on them and it doesn't go away until you load a new mission. Vista 64 XFI extreme music
  2. AA is the big killer. I have never tested it, but even with that card full AF should not be a problem. YOu have been able to whack AF up full with out and performance lost since the 68XX NV cards. AA, I imagine is the problem. Did you change any other control panel settings? I know that Antialiasing Transparency is another big killer of FPS.
  3. Thanks for the update. It is a shame it wont be in colour and 120% doesn't sound like that much more, considering it's a lot cheaper than most of us where expecting (I probably would of paid up to 50 euros). But I guess when you consider the weight for shipping and 120% price increase it would probably getting towards 80-90 Euros just for a manual. Seems like you guys made the right choice, thanks for your efforts, looking forward to purchasing.
  4. I would be glad with the A10 next. Sure, I wouldn't complain if the Ah64 was next :), but for me the fact that we had an A10 in Lomac means nothing. I mean, given the standard of the Ka50 the A10 is going to be a totally different bird to what we had we had in lockon. I imagine it will make Lo's A10 look positively arcade.
  5. Could be to do with this? http://www.defense-house.com/tvanews-2007jan01.htm
  6. From the way the producers and testers talk about the KA50 I would think that is not true for this helo. These channels cause confusion imo because they are called "auto pilot", when they are more like stabilization assistance. I'm sure the real pilots are already with familiar with the pure stick & rudder feel for a helicopter from the previous helicopters or trainers they have flown. So I don't think they would learn the KA50 with these channels switched off. In fact I don't think they are allowed to. I guess it would be the equivalent of Euro Fighter pilots trying to learn with out the computer assistance, they would never do this. For me, these channels are stabilization and I fly with all of them on all the time. Autopilot for me in the KA50 is the RouteMode.
  7. What about turning on the internal batteries?
  8. These two things would make attacking vehicles much, much harder and more interesting, it would be awesome. I hope we dont have to wait too long for such additions :smilewink:
  9. well, I don't think that would help much as all the functions are labelled already with ToolTips when you "Mouse Over" them :ermm:
  10. great photos, thanks
  11. Might seem obvious, but are you linking to the correct .exe? Make sure its DCS.exe and not launcher.exe.
  12. For myself, I learned the startup procedure first. I have yet to use the quick engine start, I feel like I'm cheating :). This was the order I learned, from most difficult to remember to easiest: Statup, Abris/navigation, AutoPilot/Flight, Weapon systems, counter measures. There is a whole lot more for me to learn about each system, but I have the basics down for all of them and I am quite familiar with most of them. Now im in the process of learning the Datalink. I cannot stress enough how much the Producers notes helped me (I have watched each of them a lot of times), without these it would have taken me much longer to memorise and understand ever thing. The same can be said for the in game training lessons. The manual is very good, but I think it will be of more use to me when I get the printed version. I need to be able to read it, then try it in the sim imedialty to understand it properly. Reading a whole lot about a system then trying it in game doesn't seem to work for me. One final thing I would suggest looking for are the startup checklists made by some kind folk 'round here. Invaluable for getting used to the startup procedure. Happy Flying! :pilotfly:
  13. good post, I too was wondering about some of these options. Particularly these from the graphics.cfg: EffectOptions = 0; Exhaust = 0; ShadowDensity = 0.6; FogParam1 = 6; FogParam2 = 1.1; AdvancedEffect = 0; RenderEffect = 0; ObjectTextureQuality = 1; LandScapeTextureQuality = 1; I know the names of some of them are self-explanatory, but I wonder how many "options" there are, eg 1,2,3? Also, which options gives the highest image quality?
  14. Try doing it this way Distiler : http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=647926&postcount=5 Can anyone confirm that this is all the new Modman version changes in the Graphics.cfg?
  15. That's what I figured, even more reason to be surprised that not one of those indicators, Hud, ADI, HSI can show you what alt and speed to fly at, as assigned for the route. Oh well, that's just the way it is I guess. The description of the ADI in the manual really makes its sound like that is what the indicators at the side are supposed to do :/ One other thing I have noticed about the ADI (seems the same in the training and producers notes) is that one of the "Error Flags" is always shown.-> how do I make this turn off and is there any chance that this might be causing a problem?
  16. I would be interested, I would like if the pictures used where taken from the English cockpit.
  17. How important is it on a mission to know what your required altitude and speed are? Maybe I think its more important than it actually is. I have only really flown one practise mission several times I made myself, for training. From other sims, it always seemed like it was fairly high priority. So you arrive at the waypoints at the right time or fly at a speed that is not going to cause you to run out of fuel before the mission is over etc. I guess when I start doing lots of different missions I'll get used to checking the Abris at every waypoint change to verify required speed and altitude. At the moment it probably seems more cumbersome than it actually is in practise. Anyway, thanks for the info.
  18. Tested the ADI. It just does the same thing that the FD does, show you deviation from the last altitude and speed as set by the Trim and Collective brake. I guess you just have to go to the plan section in the Abris. :noexpression: Wonder how they did it before that was installed.
  19. Yes indeed, I had thought the FD might do it a while ago. But as you say it only shows you your desired airspeed and altitude, as set by the Trim. Not the required values for a mission route. But I think the ADI might have it, from the manual it sounds like this does show you the required Speed and Alt as set out by the flight plan. Ill try it later. Still odd to me it's not on the HUD anywhere. Also, I'm not 100% sure but wouldn't switching the FD on while your in Route mode negate the advantage of using Route Mode? As it just puts you back in manual flight, but with cues to follow.
  20. Got it, thanks. I know this isn't the SU25T or the A10 :), but I think I remember when flying on those it would give you "Required Altitude" and "Current Altitude" on the top of the HUD in nav mode, the same for enroute speed. I'm surprised that this info is not included on the HUD in the KA. Never mind, the soultion you provide is good enough. If anyone knows why they dont do this on the KA50 or perhaps helos generally, it would be interesting. cheers
  21. I have another question on this that I cant seem to figure out. If I use Route mode, how do I know what preset mission altitude and airspeed I should be flying at along the path for each of the various waypoints?
  22. I doubt it would be a pay for addon. Good to hear its still in the pipes, such details would really add to the sim's immersion given how close to the ground you are in a helo. I think improved textures where also part of this? They impressed me as much as the extra airfield detail.
  23. No problem, here's a bit more info. Because your highest refresh rate is 60 that means that is your highest FPS available also. If you switch Vsync off, you are allowing the game to run at more than 60fps. This is where the tearing problem comes in. For example: although fraps might be displaying 70fps with vsync off, your monitor is not able to properly display this frame rate. The result is you get this annoying tearing affect when you pan your view around the screen. I guess some people might not mind it that much, but to me it was very noticeable
  24. Not really frame rate related but you say you have Vsync forced off, this is ok for benchmarking to see maximum fps available when tweaking settings. But for normal play in would leave it On. If you have it off you will notice "tearing" of the screen when you pan left and right with your view. Anisotropic Filtering can be set to max (16x) for your rig (and most everybody's), it causes no drop in FPS and really sharpens up the ground textures. I leave AntiAliasing on 2x on my rig, should be fine for you too. Given the res you run at any more would be a waste. I think full AA (x16) will cause a FPS drop for you at the Resolution your running. You could turn on "AntiAliasing- Gamma Correction", supposedly it "improves the quality and color of 3D images". I have it on but I cant say I notice much visual or FPS difference. You can set the option "Texture Filtering -Quality" to "High Quality", this will improve textures again. I would leave all other settings at their default.
  25. Have you tried putting the Desired Heading /Desired Track switch in the centre position? Not 100% if this is required, but its worth a shot. Auto heading should be left on. the only things I can think of that might stop you using Turn to Target and Ground moving target are: the Laser, the K401 targeting system, the Master Arm on the Centre Panel and the Weapon System power switch on the wall panel. I have found the closer you are to a complete stop the more predictable the Auto hover will be when you engage it.
