  1. Apart from the KA-50. it ain't right. Too much Clack! Too much movement!
  2. Repeatedly..... clack.... clack.... clack.... as you move. it sounds right! it feels right... It is damned right!
  3. Yup, tap and go is the right way. It Feels natural to me in all the DCS choppers! But less so in the KA-50.
  4. you must watch the chopper in flight, you must save and re run every mission you have screwed up due to pilot error. Once the mechanics of the engine is understood.... you will realise that left is right and right is wrong!
  5. The Map, the sky, the ground.... the tunnels! I love Iran, it is just an absolutely fabulous place to fly. Spool up your chopper at the crack of dawn and fly to the mountain ranges for combat whilst the breaking light of day creates the most incredible red sky. You must Kill the targets in the mountains before the temp gets too high and the chopper can no longer hover without engine temperature problems! Just Incredible! DCS is truly becoming superb, there is an fps cost but man is it worth it!
  6. Indeed this is so. Something is not quite right in forward flight, she is supremely solid. Also cross talk is not quite right when increasing the collective. it does not bleed into the nose of the airframe. But she really is a superb hunter killer as is. The skill required to bring weapon to bare correctly is not lost on the models problems. in fact it probably requires a touch more work load. I reckon small tweaks will bring this bird to lethal.
  7. The dual rotor configuration is a superb model for helicopter flight. It is in essence... fundamental. Two rotors simplify rotary craft to the Basic fundamental elements of flight. Each blade needs to turn 180 degrees to effect the other so blade to blade interference is minimal. It is no surprise that the cheapest helicopters through the ages have employed the dual blade tilting rotor. Indeed we may imagine one blade at 270 degrees and one blade at 90 degrees to learn our general lift geometry. If we did not have such a simple understanding of rotary lift we would have but a hand full of chopper pilots.... I guarantee that! Do we expect a car driver to understand how the combustion engine works? Do we expect the car driver to understand how friction is spread between the four tires of our car as we go around a corner? To us this car analogy is simple physics but is relevent, imagine trying to teach the complexity of rotor flight to the mass off chopper pilots..... you have to simplify it. Please Ifoxromeo redraw your lift diagram for a 3 bladed chopper. please explain how each retreating blade and advancing blade creates lift across the three blades. I am not saying this thread is wrong..... I am just tired of the basics as an argument.
  8. This is a difficult poll. For the first time in DCS, maps merge. Is it even possible to set up a mission the starts on the Afghanistan map and allows penetration into the Persian gulf map (Iran)? A multimap mission! A true invasion! From this point of view the Iran and Afghan border must be included! From a chopper simmer point of view the punishing mountains north/North east of Kabul look spectacular. These mountains will school us chopper boys hot, high and hard when it comes to flying our choppers. We need it all really!
  9. I reckon the standard operating envelope of the chopper requires too large a throw of the virtual/real cyclic. This excessive throw causes problems when trimming for a certain flight regime because of the large distance required to re zero our real cyclic within a millisecond. The rest of the cyclic movement is for fast and hard aerobatic or emergency manoeuvres. like the video we always see posted of the KA-50 pit with external views flying.... aerobatics. Give it to the new members of ED (belsimtek), these guys know how to trim a bird.
  10. Hi Tusler, All previous posts are superb and I will only reinforce some points. As you slow down the knocking vibration is not VRS! This is an aerodynamic vibration caused by the airframe/rotors once a certain speed is achieved. It is however a very useful vibration that warns you that loss of lift is coming and the VVI (VSI) must be glanced at more often as a danger zone is approaching. How fast it is approaching depends on how fast you are decelerating. In regards to your warthog, reduce the friction on the throttle, the Warthog is extremely capable of tiny small adjustments. A high friction causes jumps in collective adjustments due to stickation. Set the zoom view to the Thrustmaster's throttles analogue "friction controller". A wide open view is essential for bringing this girl in to land. I reckon the Zoom function is the most useful analogue axis in sim chopper flight (using a standard monitor). During landing... or as you line up for landing, zoom out to ensure that you can see the Doppler drift and VVI below it. The zoomed out view should allow an eye ball glance on the VVI as your work load increases. Know your VVI (VSI). Once you zoom out you will not be able to read your VVI hash marks. learn the hash points by heart and where they are. Once you know the VVI, even when zoomed out, you will see where the pointer dial is pointing or going. With experience you will ride the dial down.
  11. Please give us back our Shkval reset keybind...... please. I beg you for the hunters and the families we need to feed...... please give us back our ability to hunt quickly.... please ED, I beg you!
  12. sorry wrong reply on the wrong thread
  13. She always had the pedigree and always behaved so... in fact the old machine required a solid chunk of work to get a corner level and straight and once mastered she was a machine of speed and intent...... I gotta get used to the new easy model.... but she reacts quick and that is all I need! She is still underpowered in hot and High conditions..... a fellas gotta think ahead and work hard in this weaponized chopper.... as it should be. No Chopper has this girls ability to snipe undetected, the tiger must be fabulous! Really really fabulous!
  14. I truly hope there is a blue pit in the update! I never had a feeling of well being like I do in Devrim's Blue pit. The blue just eradicates any 2.5 brightness problems as light bounces around that beautiful bright flowery pit.... perfect! There is simply no better way of decapitating your enemy and then moving in to obliterate all remaining weak and feeble oposition. When the blood work is done and bone has been cut...... The world is still bright and right. Who would a thunk a simple blue colour would be so beautiful. Great to hear a new update is coming.
  15. If you compare the tail fin of a Huey or the hind. Hit F2 and get a good side view...... the tail fins are tiny in proportion to the body of the machine, do you see this too or is it just me? The tail fin of the Gazelle is massive in proportion to the whole machine. This tail fin and the boom "vertical fins" has a massive effect through every aspect of flight. You turn left then there is a whole hunk a aerodynamic tail fin that needs to follow.... and it dictates a line of travel. This thing is the light weight sports car of the chopper world!
  16. Once you start to exceed 70 or 80 Km/h the massive tail fin surface area plus tail boom directional fins start to take authority on directional flight. One of the fenestron design strengths comes from its ability to reduce tail rotor engine drain to almost nought in forward flight, this leaves all power for the main rotors. Any fenestron design you look at has a massive tail fin surface area and this is simply a benefit of an aerodynamic tail rotor! You are simply fighting a very strong wind vain once a certain speed is achieved!
  17. Same for me, the Key bind for the cage Shkval is now gone. For now, I have set up a spare button directly in game but I am sorely missing the Key bind.
  18. With the Gazelle you are simply applying pressure to the cyclic. Small movements are king when you bring her in to hover. This is the most enjoyable airframe when it comes to bringing weapons to bare.
  19. You may now be an integrated part of DCS and some congratulations are required here as you deserve it. You really delivered every time when it comes to speed of delivery and quality of modules. But WE will expect our choppers to be delivered on time and in sequence, there is a debt that must be paid to the fiddler. Without doubt the Hind is surely on the edge of release. The AH-1S (very disappointing as it is not a modernish W) is also expected in tens of months and not years. There are consumer needs that must have priority over ED's requirements, business that needs to be closed before moving forward. There are loyal fans that have waited along time for what is promised and now the fiddler must be paid.
  20. Looking forward to this chopper, it must become reality in this virtual world.
  21. Does this fix the problem permanently or do you need to do this every time?
  22. I hate having only 2.5 stable! Grrrrrrrrrr!
  23. With a full moon it is was always a good night for finding targets. But still a bit of contrast and brightness tweaking was required.
  24. The auto hover tolerances are just fine. Once you get experience, you will bring that chopper in fast and hard behind tight and restricted cover and instantaneously engage the auto hover.
  25. Most people seem to require some constant re assurance about what a module developer is doing or have promised to do no matter how far down the production line that module is. Belsimtek have stated that the F-18 is the dominant project and then the Hind. They only stated it once in the Queens English and that is enough for me. Belsimtek don't talk, they do.
