Quitter come on it is by no means boring this Huey is the most fun I have had in a long time it is by all accounts back to brass tacks no electronic gizmos to help you fly it or land it. Fixed wing aircraft are childs play compared to the Huey. And if anyone thinks its wrong or over done just go over to you tube and check out real footage of Hueys landing even look at the Hueys in the beginning of the first Predator movie look at how they twist and turn and wobble around whilst trying to get into hover.

Thanks for that I found loads now wish I knew this earlier the ones I am finding are supper cheap to.

Remember not sure if this has an effect on things but the Huey is still in beta phase and not final release.

Love what you've done with the stick there Film. Just out of curiosity what were those connections you used to connect the stick or the thread size, I can not find a definitive answer to this anywhere on the www. All I found was a link to a Gardenea 5/8 inch metal hose connector which have ordered from the states as it appears here in the UK ours are all metris and that model is not available to us here had to pay $40 for a $11 item.

Yeah ditto to the above ignore the sights and concentrate on the tracer fire that's what its for, and as above a moving aircraft results in adjusted fire and adjusted line of sight. Granted its a bit tricky but practice makes perfect go on the range and set up a flying pass auto pilot on throw open the door and start spraying you'll see your tracer line will curve but concentrate on the hit markers as that's where the metal meets the meat so to speak.

Ok cool thanks for that I have no joy at making missions I tried but they just don't work for some reason although I do have some music if you would like it. I have already compressed it and converted it to wav then ogg and managed to get it to work in one of your previous missions by just replacing one of your music files. Its basically the whole sound track from the film Good Morning Vietnam with Robin Williams plays seamlessly just like a 34 minute radio show with all his comedy bits over the airwaves too puts a smile on my face everytime I fly and adds to the era with the music of choice. Not sure if I can pm it to you through here, I tried uploading it for all to use on here but it won't upload for some reason.

I found the A10 to be very easy to fly and get to grips with just flying with its SAS systems. I'm a bit like you very new to DCS, shortly after getting the A10 the P51 was released I toyed with getting it but then I found out the Huey was not to far away so I waited. Since getting the Huey I have only popped in and out of the A10 now and again and have noticed from spending all my time flying the Huey my flying of the A10 has also taken a leap forward. I would go for the Huey or the P51 cut it back to brass tacks meaning fly something that has no SAS systems something that is old school no electronics aiding you. The Huey is real blast once you get to grips with her and tame her its so rewarding swooping into a hot LZ inserting troops and then pulling out to provide aerial cover or just go pick up some more such fun. Just my opinion if you get to grips with a flight model that has no electronic aids for the most basic of functions ie flight then you will have finesse as the Huey and the P51 require you to use finesse at the controls. And on a final note humans have finesse electronic aids have none.

As the title guys this stuff maybe useful to you guys making your own pits its soft mouldable sticks to anything dries in 24hrs and sets like a neoprene rubber hard and firm with only a little squidgieness check it out its possibilities are endless. You could even wrap it around your stick and then grip it squeezing it with your hand to give your Hotas a more custom grip feel add height or length to switches and buttons even wrap it round exposed wires for insulation instead of using heat shrink. I will be using it for adding pipe work to extend my stick, I have already used it to make a keyboard for my other gaming exploits I was able to wrap it around cherry mx keys with wires already soldered to them and then stick them exactly where I want the keys for maximum functionality I will pop a picture up once complete, I ran out and had to order some more lol. https://sugru.com/

Thanks Geloxo don't get me I wasn't complaining I love the mission its fun I found out how to get the troops to move just die and respawn as CMD and then you can click and move them on the map then respawn in in Huey and get back out there. Strange that the AI Huey's crashed into each other I suppose if that happens during the mission can there be another to fill that space or is that it the limitations of DCS.

Kneebord Export for all DCS modules - I need your suggestions
jay43 replied to PeterP's topic in DCS Modding
That's great Peter looking forward to that just wish could help you not much of a programmer myself still learning. Does this mean we are going to lose that picture of you on there lol. -
I just ran this again and lost 2 of the 6 helo's in a crash during first insertion it was funny to watch I was bringing up the rear and could see them starting their descent then there was some tracer fire coming from somewhere and one of them decides to swing right to avoid it crashing straight into the one next to him. After that both carcases of the Huey's were burnt out and stuck in the air right in the middle of the landing path. Was funny though.
-
I was thinking of exporting over the gunners views to each one that way when the gunners AI is implemented with a quick glance left or right I can bank according to where they are directing their fire.
-
Just a heads up I love the concept of this mission and the fact theres a lot going on but everytime I run it myself and the AI Hueys are inserting troops but they just stand around and do nothing no shooting they group up and hug. Its quite funny watching the build up of troops as it gets bigger and bigger just wish they'd do something like provide covering fire for the inbound troops or atleast move from insertion so I can get some more in there. Death Valley by the way.

Help needed to connect DCS with a VB program (for input only)
jay43 replied to sapounas's topic in Home Cockpits
Indeed thanks for sharing that info I am about to embark on making a collective thank you to both of you the OP for asking and Joe for the code. -
Jdkirk904 Make sure the Hinds land first, then land on the nearest pad to them. You should get a cue from the butt hole flying with you to throttle down the bird. Do that before exiting. I flew it twice, and got 100% and advanced to next mission. I take it back you right sir there are hinds landing which weren't there previously. I ran the update today as well as the repair dcs and it all seems to work now flawlessly first 2 missions completed 100% success rate cool.
-
There are no hinds I am aware of in the first UN mission and if I was supposed to wait for them surely I would not get the mission success flash up. What we are saying is we are supposed to be able to click on next for the next mission but that does not work we just keep getting the same first mission Into The AO. I have gone through to mission 5 now but have to select them from mission and load them from there must be some sort of trigger missing for it to jump to next. This was supposed to have been fixed or rather its in the update as fixed not my end.
-
Same here its bugged I have done over and over again finishing 100% everytime and still it wont bump to the next mission its so annoying.
-
Yeah and that's supposed to mean what exactly if you referring to me dropping 44 in one go you did not read my post did you. I made 4 trips first boots on the ground 11 Next boots on the ground makes 22 3rd drop makes 33 and 4th drop makes 44 troops all having a bbq and playing volley ball on the beach wtf why are you all just standing there move shoot something i'm getting shot at while you guys just hang out.
-
I think we really need to wait until the door gunners AI is working as in a hot lz landing they would be laying down suppressive fire all the way in and out, peppering the lz should help but it tends to alert them of your position so try to sneak in and out. The first troops on the ground should punch a hole for you but they just seem to group hug each other and barely move from insertion. For example I have inserted troops on the mission Airmobile, first drop of 11 did open fire but after I had inserted 44 to the same position they just sat around the camp fire singing songs hugging each other and not advancing which I think is a limitation of the troop AI.
-
Also I have just found in the UN mission files all the ogg and wav files are there and can be viewed in WinRAR just click on any miz file in WinRAR then right click view file and hey hoe theres the list of files in all their glory including all the radio chatter and a lot of other stuff to.

As the title guys someone spread some light on this for as I am baffled. Are there some sort of secret Tuesday updates going on behind the scenes that no one at ED is sharing info on. The only reason I ask is because I have experienced on last Tuesday and this Tuesday rather lengthy game starts. By this I mean I follow the same start procedure everytime which is turn on pc obviously and monitors before any bright spark says anything and wait for it while I make a cupa. Then double click on the shortcut usually the cmd prompt flashes up then disappears and the game follows a few seconds after this. On the 2 days in question the cmd prompt has flashed up as usual then theres along pause almost like when there use to be updates and we had to click yes to update. Its like its hanging there waiting for something then it gets it then the cmd prompt flashes up again then its game on and its only Tuesdays this is happening. Not that I mind getting updates but I want to know whats being updated or is my flying getting better as it appears the Heuy is in my opinion to easy to fly now. Landing I can almost do blind folded no shakes anymore on the way up and down its like the Huey is attached to a crane which is lowering it ever so slowly till it lands.

just do a boogle search for Military radio chatter wav files or ogg I found loads the other day downloaded some all then started putting it in to missions works a treat you do need to compress them right down to the thickness of a cigarette paper but they work. I tried uploading them on here but it appears I need permission from ED, I just keep getting this message that says contact ED admin and none of files are big they are well below the posted max its just weird. I bought the Good Morning Vietnam sound track ripped it converted it to wav then compressed it down and converted it to ogg it plays just like a radio show with Adrian Cronauer aka Robin Williams passes the time on route and its quite funny to.

Sounds good looking forward to the finished model.

She's a bit unforgiving sometimes. Try this to come into a hoover say at around 500ft try to approach your intended set down spot at 60knts slow and steady and lower collective as she starts to descend pull back on pitch 10 degrees nose up you may need to drop the collective more she will climb a little but ignore that don't try to correct that. You are climbing because of forward momentum = lift, suddenly the nose will begin to lower on its own as you get close to hovering at 40 knts start to pull up on the collective gradual not sudden and steadily to stabilise your decent to between 0 - 500ft around the 250 mark is good if you can hit 0 first time than all is good hold it stabilise and then slowly lower the collective and maintain 250ft decent rate. Word of caution though this landing approach is ok for landing at an airfield or farp if you are not in hurry or not being shot at not the best approach or landing style for fast and quick deployment or collection of troops YOU ARE A SITTING DUCK IN A HOVER LANDING as I discovered my pilot got killed then my co-pilot and then I was there as the gunner for the ride into the ground what the heck throw open the door if i'm going in i'm take some with me well I tried.
