[REPORTED] F10 Map Is Not Confined to GUI Coordinates in 1.5.4 OB

...although.... http://spitfiresite.com/2010/04/concise-guide-to-spitfire-wing-types.html/3 "The Type C and E wings were structurally identical, differing only in armament installation. This diagram shows the layout of cannon and .5″ M2 Browning installation in the latter." "An interesting curiosity is that several C-wing Spitfires LF Mk. IX of No. 485 (New Zealand) Squadron were converted to carry the Hispanos and .50 Brownings just before D-Day." <cough> Please Sir, may I transfer to 485 Squadron??

Yes, ok. See, that's what happens when you RTFM. It says to set the altimeter to 0 (QFE). Anyone got a shovel and a dumpster?

Yes, see my previous post: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2850897&postcount=19 You may prefer he last ( Viewports.Left ) option. -
Couple of minor ones: Cannot set Altimeter to 0ft at Nellis, min is 2810pa/420ft. Attitude Indicator mouse uncage seems sticky? Cannot Cage (red bar) the AI with mouse or with LAlt+LShift+C.

For a version covering just the basics (Startup, Taxi, Prep-takeoff, Takeoff, Prep-Landing and Landing) you could try the attached. Unzip to C:\[yourname]\Saved Games\DCS\Kneeboard\ Note, it will ADD to anything you have there already so you may want to temporarily rename your F-5E-3 folder to F-5E-3_bak while you try out the attached. Open the kneeboard and page forward, it all appears right there before those maps pages and once you 'know' the procedures you could remove it. I also recommend kneeboard-builder for repositioning/resizing the kneeboard but I don't know if it falls foul of Integrity Check. F-5E-3.zip

Good point. I was in the Instant Action Cold Start mission.

Well, I'd rather have a more effective projectile and better range. Having a higher firing rate and more ammo is no help if you can't hit the target and if you can hit it the 50s will do more damage. Behind those thin metal sheets are structures, equipment and a pilot and the 50s have a better chance of getting at and damaging them than the 303s. Too American? Yes, it's a shame.... 50 cals, Mustangs, Bostons, Liberators, Tanks. Lend lease. We really should have said no.

There is a community "Kneeboard builder" which allows you to reposition and resize the kneeboard as well as adding custom pages per aircraft:- www.dcskneeboardbuilder.com I don't know if Integrity Check will like it but I am using it. What I would really like to see is a search box or 'jump to page' feature because the standard Kneeboard contains 53 items which you get whether you like it or not unless you heavily edit the folder (integrity check again??) but then it all comes back with each patch. On top of that you get any custom pages you create in your Saved Games area. Another option would be to be able to turn off the standard folder and only use the custom folder but that all gets a bit tedious. OR a lua file generator in-game that lets you define what you want of the standard set in the kneeboard (drag and drop?) with the custom ones adding in as present.

That is Scripts/Aircrafts/_Common/Cockpit/Viewport Handling.lua sounds like a corrupted file. Remove any mods and do a Repair.

No pilot voice for 'request compressor air' (but it gets connected) No ground crew voice confirmation of connection No pilot voice for 'air supply engine rotate' (but it gets connected) No ground crew voice confirmation of action Same with both for disconnect/off. Idle speed reads 56% not 49% to 52% Idle Oil Pressure reads 22 not 5 to 20 Speed Brake IN is RIGHT Mouse not LEFT MOUSE Taxying power needs 61-63% not 57%
-
...and although it is a moot point (we aren't getting them) the 50 cal was a much better weapon than the .303. In mass/weight terms alone one 50 cal projectile is roughly the equivalent of four .303's. Add the projectile options and capacity (explosive head etc) along with the longer range and you have a much better weapon that might have helped redress the balance between the a/c we have/will get.

And 80% of the LW pilots would have to be novice dweebs. Oh.... wait........ :megalol:

[REPORTED] F10 Map Is Not Confined to GUI Coordinates in 1.5.4 OB
klem replied to Deezle's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
A solution I've tried several settings since latest patch. I am running surround on 3 off 1920x1080 = 5760x1080 for main view plus Bottom monitor 1920x1080 for instruments. Here are various GUI settings and results: *********** UIMainView = Viewports.Center Mission Loading screen switches to left screen at ~75% loaded. Map is on left screen with click points on center screen. *********** GUI = { x = 1920; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 1080; } UIMainView = GUI Same result as above ************ GUI = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 5760; height = 1080; } UIMainView = GUI Loading screen and map across all three screens with clickpoints in correct place but not ideal as it awkwardly crosses the center/right screens boundary on max zoom out and in the process 'slides' across the screens. ********** UIMainView = Viewports.Left All UI screens on left screen including map with correct click points. In other words, exactly what we would like to see on the center screen and at the moment is best option. Screen Res attached. lua under spoiler (refer to above for the various UIMainView options). -
That's wheat or grass, not white weeds. And it's in black and white, not the green or golden colour it really was.

Well Sith, Wags has mentioned airfields in Southern England: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2255640&postcount=10 and we shouldn't forget that the Normandy map started out in the DCS WWII 1944 kickstarter campaign which many of us paid into. Here's a reminder for those that weren't involved at the time: "Fight in famous battles like the D-Day Invasion and the Battle of the Falaise pocket. " It's hard to imagine taking part in a D-Day invasion with no airfields to fly from. I know it also said : "Landscape: Normandy. Area of the historical D-Day Invasion, as well as the extensive preparation and follow-up battles." but that Southern England question was referred to in Wags post. Kickstarter may have failed but with ED stepping up to complete the project, which was already started, my expectation is that the Normandy map will be playable in a D-Day sense. With CA it should be an interesting scenario.
-
Hopefully it will include he south of england as far north as the river thames (no need for hi-res London) because many many airfields were located in the southern region. A 450 x 450 km map with the top left anchored around Bristol would do nicely. :)
-
I know but I think it looks terrible and, as with CoD, I'll be turning it off. I don't think unrealistic waving grass serves any purpose in a flight sim except to eat frame rates. I don't recall mention of any airfields, even ALGs, being knee deep in grass.
-
Very promising. Now I don't want you to get the wrong idea, I like this very much and looking forward to it, however.... If it is an English countryside, then from foreground turf to the middle ground trees and those Downs in the background it is brilliant, that is where I live. The house detail is a bit flat (I don't really care about that) but most of all the tall grass/meadow weed/whatever really lets it down. Too white, needs to be greened up and slimmed down. This is what our long grass looks like: https://images.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rspb.org.uk%2Fcommunity%2Fcfs-file.ashx%2F__key%2Fcommunityserver-blogs-components-weblogfiles%2F00-00-00-25-81%2F0820.P1020462.JPG&f=1 and this https://images.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fs0.geograph.org.uk%2Fphotos%2F80%2F03%2F800375_e7072c64.jpg&f=1 if it is Normandy: http://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-willys-jeeps-amongst-wildflower-grasses-at-longues-sur-mer-in-normandy-76830718.html or Bocage, the wildflowers are much like the English http://www.panoramio.com/photo/50233288 More green please :)

DCS F-86 Kneeboard ATC Channel List
klem replied to uboats's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Ummm isn't this out of date now? I open the Ground Attack (Quickstart) mission and find that the F-86 frequencies has channel 2 for 261.00 = Senaki-Kohlki Is this an ED chart? -
and then there's the environment, turbulence...
-
Nice. One tiddly point, the a/c is at the correct range when it's wingspan fits neatly in the gap between the horizontal range bars of the gunsight, the gap being set by the Range and Wingspan adjusters. The circle size doesn't change (unlike the circle of diamonds in the Mustang sight). But when you are right up the backside of a 109 it probably won't matter :)

Communications with airfields during WWII
klem replied to Racoon's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Have a look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_radio_alphabet Both use X-Ray and I have heard it in many old films. For the 1921-1942 it shows Apple for A which is more likely instead of the really old WWI Ack - used for Ack-Ack or Anti Aircraft (Fire) - but it does still show the very old P - Pip as in Pip-Emma or afternoon (p.m.) .... and getting near to tiffin time old boy! :) -
Communications with airfields during WWII

I believe the phonetics were: RAF: Apple Beer Charlie Dog Edward Freddy George Harry In Jug/Johny King Love Mother Nuts Orange Peter Queen Roger/Robert Sugar Tommy Uncle Vic William X-Ray Yoke/Yorker Zebra. (and for the really confused: http://natureonline.com/37/56-ap4-glossary.html ) USAF? : Able, Baker, Charlie, Dog, Easy, Fox, George, How, Item, Jig, King, Love, Mike, Nan, Oboe, Peter, Queen, Roger, Sugar, Tare, Uncle, Victor, William, X-Ray, Zebra. LW: Anton, Berta, Caesar, Dora, Emil, Friedrich, Gustav, Heinrich, Ida, Julius, Konrad, Ludwig, Martha, Nordpol, Otto, Paula, Quelle, Richard, Siegfried, Theodor/Toni, Ulrich, Viktor, Wilhelm, Xanthippe, Ypsilon, Zeppelin. Modern: Alfa, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel, India, Juliet, Kilo, Lima, Mike, November, Oscar, Papa, Quebec, Romeo, Sierra, Tango, Uniform, Victor, Whiskey, Yankee, Zulu. And in the early days the RAF did not reply 'Roger', they said 'OK'. General comms procedures changed through the war and might range from carefully pre-planned mission procedures to minimal field procedures. btw if anyone remembers the saying ack-emma that was very old phonetics for morning: "a.m." giving at least two letter phonetics of the past, ack - a and emma - m
