Looking good! The more planes the merrier. It'll make a great target for me to shoot down in my F/A-18C next year ;)
-
Just supported the kickstarter... first time I've ever done so. Don't let me down guys!
-
Don't know if this has already been posted but here's a nice video of an F-35B simulator. Contains HUD and glass cockpit symbology that includes targeting and dropping bombs. If Kinney interactive can make an F-35 as convincing as this I'll be a happy man. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbnWg4v6iHk&feature=youtube_gdata_player The roll rate on this thing looks pretty good...

I wasn't a fan at first but then I realised it's just a tool that opens up more possibilities for mission designers. I'd hate to fly against one but it would be great to fly a deep strike 4 ship. The point is, it's happening now so embrace it. Try to gather as much information as you can and help to make it as realistic as possible. There are avionics demo's and lots of first hand accounts of how it flies and many other variables can be closely calculated from the information we have available, such as weight, thrust, internal fuel load, Max G load, wing area etc. It won't be DCS A-10C realistic, but neither are FC3 aircraft. Just accept it for what it is.
-
Just out of interest, anyone know if the F-35A's electronic/hydraulic/fuel systems are declassified? Also, any plans to include EOTS?
-
Sorry to disappoint you but the new AFM's that were just announced aren't available yet so I don't know what upgrade button you're talking about or what you spend an hour downloading.
-
Wow... Ok, I'm convinced this may have potential now ;)
-
I hope that one day all the FC3 aircraft will have 3D cockpits and AFM. At the moment though I'm just excited about one thing... Vapour trails! :D Can't wait for these to make a comeback. Really adds to the feeling of speed and pulling G's in a turn.

Clickable pit and avionics upgrades won't be DCS FC3, they'll be full DCS modules. In other words, a separate product.

Low RPM audio warning switch reversed when using autostart
howie87 replied to howie87's topic in Bugs and Problems
I managed to recreate this bug using this method: Jump into a running Huey Shut down the engine with the fuel cut off switch Turn the RPM audio warning switch to OFF Perform autostart (left win + home) As the engine spools up again you will hear the low RPM warning even though the switch will still be in the OFF position. Turning the switch to the ON position turns OFF the audio warning. -
Really can't wait for the new AFM's. I think they'll bring a new level of enjoyment and realism to FC3 dogfights.

Low RPM audio warning switch reversed when using autostart
howie87 replied to howie87's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yeah, I'm aware of how the switch functions. I just set it to the off position BEFORE running the auto start and it reversed the function (warning tone when switch set to off, no tone when switch set to on). Pretty sure it's a bug. -
Strangely the su25 flight model still feels a bit more 'FC3' than 'DCS' to me... Can't quite put my finger on why. Compared to the A-10C and Mustang it just feels a bit more wooden.
-
Thanks, I'll give it a go. I find flying the Russian aircraft a bit like flying a UFO though. Strange symbols and dials everywhere that I don't understand!
-
Does the su25 already have an advanced flight model like the su25T?

Added advanced Flight Model (AFM) for the A-10A.

Haha, sure. My second copy of FC3 has already gone to a good home though sadly! Really pleased that ED made the right decision for DCS and for the community this time. I will be doing my best to promote them and reward their hard work and good deeds. -

Excellent news on the free AFM's for FC3. I think this was definitely the right decision. I'm now going to buy a second copy of FC3 for a friend to show my support ;) -
I think they should throw in the AFM's for free, for the sake of bettering DCS and lessening fragmentation between the same aircraft. They're planning on releasing a high fidelity DCS F-15 and SU27 anyway eventually, so they'll reap the real rewards there. The way I see it, they're trying to sell an unfinished product in stages right now. Each stage is slightly better than the last but you have to buy the whole thing all over again. If this is the way things are going, I'll wait for the finished version before I cough up again.

Is it though?... Really? Three times more work than designing a 6dof cockpit and high resolution external model complete with animations and FC3 avionics? Come on, I'm not saying it's easy but you're pushing it there. In my eyes, I already own 75% of these 'new' modules by owning FC3. Therefore I value the AFM alone to be worth $5 per aircraft. If ED want to offer it to FC3 owners for $15 per aircraft, that's fine but I won't buy it.
-
The problem that FC3 owners are facing is that we've already paid for parts 1, 2 and 4 of this: 1- Detailed 3D model (high polygon / high res textures) 2- 6 DOF cockpit 3- AFM 4- Lock On level cockpit systems Why should we pay $20 just for the AFM when we own 75% of each module already? The obvious solution would be to make the FC3 upgrade $20, for all the advanced flight models ($5 per aircraft).

Would you want/ allow flyable civilian aircraft in DCS
howie87 replied to Kroll's topic in DCS Wishlist
I guess the Huey is practically a civilian aircraft anyway... -
+1 Cluster bombs still ruin my frames though.
-
Not for most people. In fact right now you can buy 3 full DCS quality modules for less. I really hope this is a free update for FC3 owners like the testers are saying but I'd be happy to pay $20 for all the advanced flight models bundled together and for ED's hard work. Just not worth $20 each to me.

I stand by my previous statement. Also, most people who click on this link will have already have an interest in civilian aircraft. Look at the figures 60% yes 40% other than yes (split 3 ways) There should only be 2 options.
